Group 7-day waking average?

Morning all

An unexpected 5.2 for me today - especially since I have a sore throat / cold on the go, and a head full of cotton wool.

Congrats on yesterday’s HS @Pam123 and sorry to hear about your macular odema :care: - hopefully they can put an effective treatment plan in place now you have a clear diagnosis.

6.7 today... little bit high after a night of my blood sugar refusing to go above 4.2 and lots of drops under 3...!

I'm pleased to report that my library was left reasonably clean and tidy after last night's show, a great contrast to when I walked in yesterday! Hopefully the same can be said again after tonight's show!

The sun is shining here. I hope everyone has a great day!
 
5.9 on a bright, sunny but frosty Berkshire morning, and weekly BP check 115/78. Our garden thermometer has crept above zero now and cars are busy de-icing themselves in the sunshine. Everyone home today - wife and eldest WFH and youngest not having a shift at Tesco until Sunday.

Managed to get the final fence panel painted yesterday although there's a half-panel in the corner that I can't get at as it's covered in some sort of creeper. Might get the secateurs on it, or maybe not bother painting that one.

Friday is Big Shop Day, so Sainsbury's, Waitrose and the Garden Centre's shop this morning and this afternoon I'll accompany my wife, a Cinnamon Trust volunteer, when she does her Friday dog walk.

Yesterday’s care assessment for my parents was cancelled last minute and rearranged for next week. Bit annoying but at least my parents are now more open to getting some help. I think they need more than they are talking about, but this will at least be a first step.

Eye screening today so I fully expect the mist to clear and bright sunshine to arrive around 3pm today :rofl:

Just seen a bit about creon shortages on BBC breakfast news and aware there are some here on this forum that are affected. Just makes you think how reliant a lot of us are on the medicines we need and perhaps how fragile the supply chains are getting.

Hopefully they will get a positive assessment as to their real needs. People of a certain generation often want to do their best and underplay the difficulties they are having.
A friend's dad lost his disabled permit because he struggled hard to do what they asked in walking the distance and then they said he had managed when they assessed. He had a heart condition and no toes on one foot due to an accident.
 
Morning all - glorious day with clear blue skies and sunshine.

6.3 this morning, but apparently I'd been above 10 and reaching 12 most of the night after two low alarms in quick succession and somewhat aggressive corrections i.e. a total of 4 Dextro and a whole biscuit.

Off for a walk on the coast path and then perhaps the ironing we've not been doing at all this week! We got some little fat Italian sausages with fennel in Lidl yesterday so perhaps I'll do something with them and pasta this evening.

Last year I had problems getting Creon and even cancelled a holiday to Madeira because of it. But since the autumn I haven’t had any problems with my supply and now have a surplus. Today it’s re order day and I wasn’t going to ask for Creon as I have plenty and I feel guilty hoarding them when others are struggling. Now I don’t know what to do. :confused:
 
8.7 this morning. Looks like the increased gliclazide dose is starting to kick in. Collected a new bg monitor from the pharmacy yesterday afternoon so back to regular testing again.
Beautiful sunshine today. Will get stuck into the shredding pile when I get back from Tai Chi. Hubby is making vegetable soup from the ham stock left after simmering a nice piece of gammon yesterday.

Good morning, a happy 5.8 (TIR 91%) for me and it hasn't been in the 5s in a morning for some time. Couldn't get back to sleep after early basal, as my OH goes away today to celebrate her Christian Conference in sunny Blackpool. She'll be back Sunday to celebrate my 60th a day late.

Feeling so much better yesterday and today - I might even get to stretch my legs this afternoon.

Morning all and a 4.8 on the finger for me. Sensor died after just over a day flat red for a couple of hours over night then try again in 10 minutes. It sprang back into life with a lo glucose alarm and a 2.9. Finger prick test was 5.0. Read 2.9 constantly before I ripped it off.
It's been reported!

Been to the pharmacy and I should have some more creon in a few days. Novo Rapid cartridges seem to be coming in bigger boxes which are just too big to fit upright in the fridge door insulin shelf.

Any way it's rather foggy out.

7.9 for me this morning and true to form my levels have swung the other way and I was high all night and needed 2 quite hefty corrections through the night and still woke up higher than I would like. I jabbed my insulin and got out of bed and my high alarm started going off which I ignored because insulin was already in and then 15 mins later alarm went off again and I assumed it was still the high alarm again but no, it was low alarm at 4.4 with a vertical downward arrow! Normally I have to wait 45mins to an hour for levels to come down from 8 before I can eat breakfast and this morning after being high all night I suddenly dropped like a stone and ended up having jelly babies for breakfast!

Anyway, I have been along to see nurse for my annual diabetes review blood/urine samples/BP/weight and toe tickle etc. All good apart from BP way too high again at 150/100. I get so stressed about appointments, I was ill last night worrying about getting there on time today. Had GGs to feed and muck out and then home washed and changed and hot footed it along to the surgery in the next village. It was a serious power walk but got there with 10 mins to spare which I spent trying to meditate to bring BP down, but clearly failed. 🙄 They are going to want some home monitoring done and I suspect I may be heading towards medication for it, which I am really not keen on, but no good if it is that high all the time.
Just downloaded my Libre reader to LibreView and HbA1c prediction as of today is 44mmols/mol so will be interesting to see how the actual result compares. I expect about 46-48mmols. Results might be ready this afternoon with having an early appointment but most likely early next week.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I will be trying to chill now that appointment is over.

Having heard the non-committal response by the Health Sec on BBC Breakfast at c.0740 (available on i-player) I intend to maintain my modest stockpile and reorder next week my repeat Creon. The reality is there is an international shortage of the ingredients, thus uncertainty about manufacturing and supply. While the Health Sec alludes to this, he clearly didn't have any clear idea about how this would (could) be resolved. Hence his response was evasive.

I respect that he wasn't making a false promise of resolution, so managing cautious expectations. But not a hint of any improvement by the NHS or Government for supplies of Creon, PERT in general nor any of the other meds in short supply. In fact it bothers me that PERT shortages could be diluted amongst other shortages amidst the workload of the Health Department. So I shall
selfishly, but openly, revert to making sure I'm looked after; hence some stockpiling.

I noted the thread about insulin and the cool bags, very useful.
My question is regarding Enzymes eg Creons.
These are in short supply and prescriptions are limited, as users will know, so can they be procured in India or would one need to take a suitcase full to cover the trip?

The BBC Breakfast news did a further slot @ c.0815 on Creon and PERT with extra interview time with representatives from Pancreatic Cancer UK. All of this media attention triggered by public questions raised in BBC's "Your Voice".

I've no experience with using this "opportunity" to raise the profile of PERT, but I'll consider this avenue in any future query. Possibly better than asking my MP!
 
Good afternoon! 7'6 today, after a few mornings in the 4s.

Exhausting day yesterday, with over 13 hours of work. I woke up today tired, with a swollen eyelid and feet pain. My work shoes are desperately screaming for a replacement. And my period came with some mild discomfort to add to the party.

Is not all bad tho. The sun is shining (not a metaphor!), the part of the bed that I was missing was delivered yesterday and I'm looking forward to move house tomorrow. I got the whole day off, my new flatmate and one friend with a car are both coming in the morning to help me move my stuff. I'll finish packing this evening, most of it it's done, the bags have been on my way all week. Don't know how much you have until you have to move! :D After that I'm going for lunch with my friend and a common mate, that means I will start unpacking later but I didn't want to make him come all the way just to have him as a driver. Plus I could do with a bit of relaxing.

Well, must go back to work. An 8 hour shift today, and less than 3 to go. Can't wait!

Thanks for that Roland. I’ve just read it. I will do as I first thought then and not order any this time. I’ll evaluate my need over the next eight weeks and maybe get my GP to reduce my prescription as I don’t take as many now because of other gastric issues.

I've just recently had to start on the meds having managed to put the GP off for 2 years but my BP is stubbornly higher (though not too high, just more than they'd like). I suppose it comes to many of us eventually even though we put it off as long as we can. Fingers crossed for you.

Yep Roland I think they also mentioned that there is one main wholesaler and that they were having specific issues about obtaining supply.I too thought Wes Streeting was being evasive and good to see the publicity around Creon shortages.
I am similar to @eggyg in that I have been able to get a consistent supply over last 6-9 months since I moved to an on line pharmacy which gives me home delivery as well.I decided not to order on my current prescription as again I have a few spare and I find I can eke them out if needs be without it causing me too much distress.
I know that in your situation it is much more important to secure an ongoing supply and good luck with that.
