Group 7-day waking average?

5.9 this morning for me.

After taking my parent’s hamper (complete with homemade rum truffles🙂) we will be off to my hospital appointment for 1:30pm. Feeling a bit unsettled, but hopefully the discussion will be just that and my feelings and opinions will be listened to. I think they will be as the DSNs have been marvellous and very helpful up to now. I’ll do an update on here later today.

Had a great family Christmas meal yesterday to start off the season, but I won’t really feel Christmasy until after today’s appointment, which hopefully won’t spoil the mood!

Take care everyone!

TWO MORE SLEEPS TILL SANTA COMES

Hope the appointment answers your questions so you can spend Christmas without that worry.

Morning everyone. The sun is shining the wind has stopped and it’s another in the 4s again today with a 4.7 on waking.

Have a great day everyone and stay well.

Morning all and 6.3 for me. 98% in range over the last week so I must be doing something right.

Been herding sheep this morning. Got back from the Coop to see sheep going into our garden. Got them safely down the lane to the farm without panicking them.

More tidying, sorting and last minute shopping to do.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning

5.4 today, not bad as I did not take any meds yesterday due to feeling unwell, went back to bed about 20 mins after getting up and spent the whole day in bed mostly sleeping, had that a few times recently, so not sure if I a, coming down with something or if it is the depression low mood etc. anyway despite still feeling tired I feel a bit better today, plus my daughter and granddaughters are coming round later on so that has cheered me up.

Forgot to say congratulations @eggyg on your HS yesterday.

@ColinUK - maybe we can meet up for a coffee in the new year as I am not working at the moment.
That would be lovely 🙂

Central London is v v quiet today. Gym is empty. IMG_2342.jpeg

4.8 this morning, very odd thing happened this morning the door bell went hubby was handed a bottle e of leather car cleaner with an invoice from BMW price zero, the guy who delivered it was from the local BMW dealer. just off out to get some odd bits and post a couple of parcels have a good day everyone

Afternoon all - and a wet, horrible one it is. Though this morning was nice.

7.5 this morning. 85% TIR both today and yesterday. Since I am not running the show I do not feel responsible, but I wish the damn HCR would be more accurate. This morning at 9:30 I had half a bread roll with sardine paste on it 16g carb (I weighed it). With the suggested bolus of 3.3 I have actually put in a total of 5.25u and current BG is 13.6!! I need lunch but daren't have any.

Been fighting our way round Sainsbury's. What a bun fight. Took us long enough to find a parking space in their enormous car park. Couldn't get everything we needed so went to Morrisons which was no-where near as bad.

At 5pm we are going to the local where there's a sax quartet playing Christmassy music and they are giving out free christmas pudding roulade. The mind boggles! We should have fun though. Home for a Jerusalem artichoke and sausage casserole.

Sorry to hear some of you are feeling down and sincerely hope that when the days get lighter you will too!

@ColinUK please stop posting pictures of torture chambers - very inappropriate at Christmas!

Meantime wishing you all a happy day!

Afternoon all this morning was by me on like the rest of you a 9.6 i guess it was the pizza last night
(main thing there is what to blame🙄)
bot as of now its a 5.4 so its okay
for the rest of the day you should all have a good one

As promised here’s the update following my hospital DSN appointment. . .

The DSN said that oral therapies would mean my HbA1c would worsen and that regardless of type classification I need insulin. We did discuss the various drug options but her opinion was definitely to stay just on insulin. Phew! I feel so relieved and back in my comfort zone. She even prescribed Abasaglar to replace my Levemir which is apparently being discontinued here in the UK in 2026 (I knew it had already been discontinued in the USA). She said even though it is more than likely I am T2, I definitely need insulin and there is no issue at all in keeping the Libre. She even changed my prescription for that to the new Libre 2+. So some good Christmas presents and I feel so much better mentally. I’m breathing a great big sigh of relief!

Did she say where this had come from? It’s been at the back of my mind, that where the US leads, we might follow, but I'd not heard of anything official. I swapped from Lantus (or its biosimilar, Abasalgar) because I really couldn’t get it to work for me, so if I’ve got to swap to something else in a couple of years, that’s a heartsink moment for me.(also, I use the Novopen Echo, which has the advantage of tracking the doses for me)

I'm sort of in the same boat. They moved me to Tresiba in 2020, but couldn't get it to work for me, and after about two months of trying I went back to Levemir. I would need to start thinking of alternatives if Levemir was withdrawn.

ETA

Diabetes UK has this article from the 19th of this month which confirms that Levemir will be withdrawn in 2026, but no further information is available at this moment.

She didn’t say, but just read this here on DUK dated December 19 2024 :

Levemir

We have been made aware that Novo Nordisk are planning to discontinue their Levemir insulin range, but not until 2026. At this stage, we do not have any further information because the Department of Health and Social care are working with leading health care professionals, insulin manufacturers and other relevant groups to plan for this discontinuation. In the new year, they will be producing and releasing a Medicines Supply Notification, providing national guidance for prescribers on what alternatives will be available and recommended. We will update this page when further information is available.
Healthcare professionals have been asked not to switch people from Levemir to an alternative insulin until the guidance on suitable alternatives has been issued. This is to make sure that the discontinuation in 2026 doesn’t affect the supply of other insulins now.
