Don't understand all this decorating early in December
I think it started during the second lockdown in 2020 as a means of bringing some cheer to what had been a truly awful year, with no end in sight, and people seemed to have carried on with it. The houses in our close, bar one, are fully lit up already.

Good day folks, 7.8 this morning, I know why but I'm not telling, just say I was a bad girl 😉 But the good news is 2 hours after breakfast it was 7.

I did some manual work in cutting down some excessive growth on shrubs with the loppers, got so hungry doing that now I have just enjoyed a nice lunch and will vegetate this afternoon in front of tv.

Have a great day everyone.

Weighed myself this afternoon for a post holiday check in. Whilst away I was going to have what I wanted. So I had some pizza, a little ice cream and I would often have two beers of an evening. Dropped 100g in weight and 2% body fat!

Evening all - been a dry day but with a cold wind.

Can't recall what FBG was, but I know it was a bit too high for my liking. Anyway been out for the day with my friend. We went over to Mousehole as they were advertising their Christmas Craft Fair. There was some truly lovely stuff there and I am guilty of buying yet another bauble for the Christmas tree. I'ts a pale blue circle of glass etched with a picture of St Michael's Mount, so quite local.

We had lunch in the Ship Inn with it's roaring fires. Both had salt and pepper Squid and shared a portion of chips, which was a good thing, since the portion of squid needed a magnifying glass! Afterwards went to the Deli further down the harbour for a coffee.

@Grannylorraine your wrath is truly wonderful, I want one please!

@ColinUK well done on not gaining on holiday!

@TinaD our tree is artificial and at least 40 years old. Sorry to hear about your daughter, but yes, she needs her mum.

Hope all of you in pain feel better soon.

Dinner... now, just Merguez sausages and chips with maybe some buttery leeks.

Enjoy what's left of the evening folks...

Nice bauble @PattiEvans

Good morning - 4.3

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all.6.8 on the meter after going for a wee and walking all the way from the bedroom to the kitchen to get my meter. All of 5 meters maybe. Sensor fell off through the night! I caught it last night on the corner of a cushion, I pressed hard on it and thought I’d saved it, unfortunately I didn’t, and it fell off as I turned over in bed about 2am. Was finishing tomorrow so no great loss, except I’m sure I was a 5.2 before my wander about! 😉

Had a lovely first day of our holiday. Cold but dry and bright (ish), at times, we did the Coffin Route from Grasmere to Ambleside. This is, as the name suggests, where the deceased Ambleside residents were carried to the burial ground in Grasmere as it was the nearest. It’s rough with stones and tree routes and five miles long! Can you imagine what it was like carrying a coffin all that way? I struggled with an egg sarnie, packet of cheese and onion and an orange Club in my rucksack! But like a trooper I made it all the way and we duly purchased our fillet of beef at the local butcher ( Mr Eggy carried that back, not on the Coffin Route, although TBF it was a deceased Ambleside resident). Went into The Olde Friars a very well established chocolate shop, there’s one in Keswick too, or did it close? Anyhoo, we purchased some chocolatey gifts for the children and grandchildren, and I may have bought some for myself! Hence the 6.8! Handmade chocolates are to die for, luckily I didn’t, and therefore Mr Eggy didn’t need to walk back along the Coffin Route with me and the dead Angus! o_O 7 miles walked and 440 feet of elevation, just a nice flattish walk to start us off.

Today is mist almost all day, we’re going to have a wander to Rydal Caves as Mr E wants to take some ethereal shots! Then maybe a linear walk to Grasmere and perhaps a visit to the garden centre and cafe for a scone.

Here’s my pick of the pics from yesterday.

Mostly of Rydal water. Bit of snow on the tops. The stepping stones are right outside our accommodation, they’re quite famous, lots of photos have been taken, they’re not safe to walk over at the moment as the river is quite high. Us on the Coffin Route overlooking Rydal Water, we’d just had our egg sarnies. Oh and we popped into The Unicorn for a beverage, Ambleside’s oldest pub apparently.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Morning

4.5 today, couldn’t sleep, worrying about work again after a bad day yesterday, I honestly don’t know why I worry so much, I obviously do an ok enough job otherwise they would have let me go.

@eggyg - lovely photos, I don’t think I would be able to resist handmade chocolates either.

@ColinUK - well done on losing weight on holiday.

@TinaD - just hugs, I hope your house sale gets sorted so you don’t have that to worry about while at your daughter’s house, sending my love to you and your family.

@PattiEvans - love the bauble.

as for Christmas decorations going up earlier and earlier I agree with @Martin.A, I think a lot more of us put our decorations up early in 2020 and now that has become normal, we always used to do ours around the middle of December, but now we do ours the 1st weekend in Dec. Although we have an artificial tree now whereas before we always had a real one so again putting up too soon would have meant a brown stick in the living room by Christmas Day, but when we moved as we no longer had a separate dining room the artificial tree that went in there is now our one and only tree.

Good morning everyone

BG 5.4

Nothing much done yesterday. Nothing planned for today. Good job as I am feeling a bit rough this morning.

Have a great day today whatever you are foing

Very acceptable 7.1 for me this morning on waking and no worse for wear after my weekly music session with some good friends. Plenty of good tunes and songs, along with a few pints of Guinness. I find I am getting better as time goes on in figuring out how much insulin to take to count the carbs in the Guinness. My addition of an IOB (insulin on board) calculator to my web app makes the task a lot easier and prevents me from over-dosing myself.
I did need to have a light snack when I got home to prevent my BG from dropping after my walk home. My Dexcom sensor threw a 'signal lost' error at about 2:30am, which woke me up. Just killing the G7 app on my iPhone and restarting it sorted things out. But, since I saw that my BG was flat at 8.8, which I thought was a little on the high side, I took 1 unit of NovoRapid to bring it down a little. All together a very pleasant time last night.

5.1 for me
i feel good think my MH crisis is over todays going to be a good day

Morning all, 7.6 here, Dawn has decided to pay me a visit, I was pottering along quite happily in the 5s for most of the night.
Had my annual blood tests, and have holes in both arms and a bruise on one, to show for it. Never happened to me before, but the nurse fumbled the second test tube as she was swapping over, and there was a loud hiss and the tube condensated up with just a small drop of blood in the bottom. I didn’t realise, the tubes are sealed with a vacuum inside, which means they draw the blood up better, I assume. Only she dislodged the needle in my arm a bit and let air in to the tube, so it blew! Having dislodged the needle, she had to start again on the other arm, and I’ve got a large bruise on the original.
Nurse was mortified, and so apologetic, she said that hasn’t happened to her for a long time. She’s certainly been doing my blood tests for at least ten years without previous mishap!

I don't put any decorations up.
Me neither - we go to my mum’s for Xmas and there’s no room in our lounge for a tree (especially with a puppy!). My BFF has got a flat Xmas tree that she hangs on the wall - I’m tempted, cos I do like a shiny bauble or three and some tinsel this time of year.

Morning all. 4.9 here.

Had my GP surgery diabetic review on Monday. Apparently, my A1c of 66 is “very good”. I said “No, it isn’t” - I wasn’t in the mood, as you can tell! I felt bad afterwards for not being polite, but...honestly...where do they get these people from?!!

Enjoy your Xmas decorations, ev1.

Ah, yes. The vacutainer system. I can always tell when my trust have 'rationalised' on equipment and changed to a cheaper supplier. I'm pretty good at taking blood normally but the new kit we have means holding the bottle at an awkward angle so as not to lose the vacuum - you can hear and feel when you do. My argument is that it's not an economy if you need twice the equipment!!

5.9 for me today. And a day covering a colleagues clinc. Well, me and a student. So, fingers crossed we don't run too far behind as it's busy!!

Morning all. A nice 5.7 to start my birthday.

@eggyg lovely photos. Have a good time.
@Grannylorraine i hope you have a better day at work today. Take care.
@Bloden i've never seen/heard of a flat christmas tree! I'll check them out as older daughter has never had a tree since she moved out. The cats would have a great time with it.

Have a good day everyone.
