Group 7-day waking average?

Morning all, 6.3 here. Diabetes review this morning, I had my foot tickling, BP, etc done last week with my bloods, the HCP does the lot. I’m supposed to discuss the results with the nurse, today. Can’t think what we’re going to talk about, the weather, maybe.

6.1 marks a return to Colin’s Cultural Corner.

This production of The Sleeping Beauty was everything that the Matthew Bourne one wasn’t.

It was beautiful from start to finish.

Staging was very open which gave the dance the space to be centre focus. Beautiful costumes. Breathtaking dancing. And the music was sublime.

Yes it’s a bit shmultzy but I didn’t care one iota. Yes the individual dances go on a bit and get in the way of the narrative but again I cared not one jot about that as they were marvellous.

I had thought the Matthew Bourne version was rushed or edited somehow and I’m right.

Both performances started at 7:30. Saddlers Wells had one 30 minute interval and finished at 9:45. Convent Garden has two intervals totalling about the same and finished at 10:30.

Of course with this being ballet there are elements of the plot that are bonkers. For example I’m wondering what wedding guest list would include a pair of cats, Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, Puss in Boots and Mrs Puss in Boots and a few random animals but this one did.

I’ve glanced at the reviews for this revival and the Evening Standard gives it just two stars and says that it’s too traditional and needs to be updated. Every other review I’ve seen gives it 4 or 5 stars and says that it’s pretty much the perfect example of classical ballet.

There was the added joy yesterday of a very well deserved standing ovation, the first I’ve experienced at Covent Garden.

This production is running through to mid summer I think so if you are curious or a die hard ballet fan there’s plenty of opportunity to get a ticket and get hit right in the emotional feels by it!

In case you can’t tell, I loved it and am even thinking of going again.

4.0 this morning, managed to do a 30 minute prebolus for breakfast so let’s see how that works out! Couldn’t do a prebolus yesterday and had a peak of 15! So hopefully today will be better!

Congratulations to @Gwynn on your HS, or should that be CS (Castle Special) looking at @ColinUK picture?

@eggyg - good luck today! You’ll have to be like a vampire and shun the bright lights! Congratulations on your unicorn days too!

@goodybags - sorry to hear of your bungalow purchase woes! You couldn’t make it up could you? So hope everything gets sorted soon for you!

Have a good day everyone!

6.2 and 96% in range, seriously my bg is behaving very suspiciously this week

Good moaning! After a good evening (BG wise as it was otherwise boring) an 'orrible 1.8! :(

I am at the clinic at the end of the week and will be banging on about CGM again as last year's promised follow up never came. Who's is the guy I need to swot up on - I am having a memory blank - is it Parwathy or something similar?

6 exactly for me today and about half that in inches of snow this morning. 🙂

If your BG was your teenage child I'd bet they are going to ask you for money 😉

Morning

7 today, not feeling great, hope I haven’t got the lurgy that everyone had bout Christmas time.

@Gwynn - congratulations on your HS

@goodybags - you have my sympathy, as my last house move was nt straight forward either.

@eggyg - hope today’s appointment goes well.

Good morning everyone! 9'9 after a short night sleep, 6'9 a couple hours later before breakfast with Levemir in my system.

After recent experiences I tried to bolus for dinner last night. I don't have any ratios yet, nor experience in guessing carbs (it was not a meal at home), so I went with a bit random dose of 2 units. In my Libre graph it looks like it didn't do much and I went to bed at 14, tho finger prick showed a slightly better 11'5. At least this time it decreased slowly during the night.

@ColinUK your Cultural Corner makes me want to go to a show! I will be in London for a few hours soon but unfortunately, not enough time to visit the theatre.

There are some very short things on at the Opera House. Some are free! Similarly the Royal Festival Hall has free performances on in the foyer space (which is actually a large sunken auditorium) often!

Or you could just stay longer!

Thanks for the info, as always! Wish I could stay more but I will do another trip soon if I can, and I will definitely fit some show there 😉

If you fancy joining me sometime for a little Culture whether it’s ballet or opera let me know.

I’ll even attend a matinee if that makes things easier!

(Same goes for everyone else as well of course)

Morning all, a happy 5.1 for me this frosty and sunny morning.

4.9 for me this morning and apart from a 1unit correction for an 8.8 with an upward sloping arrow as I climbed into bed last night, I didn't need any interventions during the night. I did 3 trips up the hill with haylage on my back and feed buckets in my hands late last night so quite disappointed I needed that correction, but at least I got undisturbed sleep even if it wasn't the most restful kind.

Wow! @eggyg Another unicorn all trotting along one after the other like that! You should be a circus performer! Very impressive indeed! Concerned that your digestive system is giving you grief though and restricting your food intake and enjoyment so much. Hope it is just a passing phase/flare up and it settles soon and retinal scanning gets the all clear.

@goodybags. Really sorry to hear about your new house situation. So frustrating when it was preventable. I hope the seller isn't going to expect you to split the bill. Bit of an odd situation when you have bought it at auction.

@Gwynn Congrats on yet another optimum waking reading. Personally, if I was dietary controlled Type 2 I would be happier with a reading in the 4s every morning as you often do of course.

@ColinUK So pleased you enjoyed the ballet last night and lovely to read about it in Colin's Cultural Corner.

@Elenka_HM Sounds like you need to push for some support with using bolus insulin and carb counting but well done guessing your way through it last night and definitely better to underestimate than jab too much. The diabetes specialist dietician is the person you need an appointment with for carb counting. Generally they start you off on a 1:10 ratio, so I unit for every 10g carbs but that can be a bit too much for some people, so do be careful and always underestimate the dose to be safe. Have you done the online BERTIE course as that should give you a good background understanding of how it works and you can do it a bit at a time when you can fit it in.

Good morning. BG 6.6. Weather foul but precipitation so far limited to a sort of wet hail - no increase in yesterday's sprinkled coverage. Whew.

Seem to be making a break through with the foal - 3 days of "smiley" ears forward instead of foul laid back "grumpy" ears followed by an attempt at biting. Like people all animals differ in temperament and speed of learning - penny seems to have dropped that it is I who hand out the nosh rather than it dropping from the sky. Oddly I have found that the gentler the mare the sharper (i.e. nastier) the foal - think it is a case of spare the hoof and spoil the child. Still they all learn their manners in the end.

Planning a day of feeding the woodburner, reading and pottering on with watch re-furb.

Wishing you all a good day.
