Group 7-day waking average?

Morning everyone. A happy 5.1 for me earlier this wet and grey day.

Have a good day everyone and stay well.

It’s a symbolic ritual where a couple’s hands are tied together with ribbon or cord to represent their commitment to each other. Their hands are wrapped together in an expression of their love with words, poetry or music accompanying the ritual. It’s an ancient Celtic tradition.
How romantic. <3
Oh how lovely, very romantic. It definitely calls for a new frock, shoes....
Just make sure they remember to untie you both before the afternoon tea 😉

Morning

4.8 on waking, going to see mum later, will be doing some crotchet while I am there.

@eggyg - congratulations on winning the competition, hugs to you all regarding situation with MIL

@ColinUK- pleased to hear your meeting was good.
@Grannylorraine did you finish crocheting the Nutcracker? I'd love to see a photo. My attempts at crochet are blankets and scarves although i have done some nice ones. I've never done anything smaller though....yet.

Yes I did finish, I’ll take a photo later and pop it on here. I am terrible at remembering to take photos of the things I make.

One piece of advice, take the batteries out of the in home monitor thing and put it away in a drawer or the back of a cupboard somewhere. It’ll drive you crazy looking at it and it’s not as if you’re going to suddenly find that you’re leaking electricity from somewhere or find yourself deciding you can turn off the fridge or something!
Not for us ours is a plug in one.

5.9 for me but only because I jabbed a 1.5u correction a couple of hours earlier when my high alarm went off at 8.2. No evening Levemir last night as I had a particularly active day yesterday and got through 9 jelly babies trying to keep out of the red which is a record for me!

@eggyg So sorry that the torment is continuing for all of you. Really hoping it is over today. Lovely to hear about your competition win though. Very fitting for you and look forward to seeing the celebratory photos.

So close with a 5.3 today!

New sensor just before breakfast, at least the last one was good and lasted the full 14 days, unlike its previous two buddies who both failed at 11 days. Still working my way through the remaining Libre 2s so it will be some time before using the 2+ ones.

Had a great day yesterday helping to operate the special event station at the radio club who are celebrating their 60th anniversary. Loads of contacts made and a good chance to get some operating practice in. Spoke with people all over the UK along with a couple of people from Belgium. Also had my course tutorial last night so it was a day full of radio for me. Luckily my wife is really understanding and ok with me doing it all!

@ColinUK - glad your meeting went well yesterday. It is so frustrating how long the justice system takes.

@Robin - hope you’re enjoying the smart meter! If you really want you can buy meters to insert in sockets to see how much power individual appliances are using! I expect to see a spreadsheet of your results later

@eggyg - you must all be exhausted, nice to have the competition win as a bit of a bright light in the gloom. Thinking of you all and hoping you all get peace soon.

Take care everyone!

another 5.2 for me this morning alarm went of at 3am sorted out with orange juice, I wish Spa Medica would phone
and arrange my first appointment if its marked as urgent its taking a while to process whatever that means, I'm not impatient just really worried.

I just missed the time to say good morning so...good day everyone! It was a 5'9 with a lovely flat line, much the same as yesterday (when I don't think I posted).

I had a great time at book club yesterday. There is an idea to do a weekend away together, which I am excited about, but also very aware that we haven't hang out outside the club before and a few hours a week is not the same as 24 hours together for 3 days! So I've suggested we start with a lunch somewhere outside our regular cafe, or a day out somewhere closer... Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the "girls trip"! I just think it would be good to start with smaller plans. People seemed on board.

After I had lunch at Costa with a friend I don't see often and it was nice as well.

The room search continues. I have 2 more places to visit, both same price and good locations. One of them is unfurnished, which would be normally a no from me but I like the rest of the flat (only my bedroom would be unfurnished, the rest is all ready) and I'm getting good vibes from the flatmate, so I'm going to at least see it in person. I'm not gonna lie, I'm fantasizing about having my IKEA moment  Telling myself "well, you could make the room to your taste..." Probably would get a bit overwhelmed when I had to actually choose and pay for everything, but hey, there's a first time for everything.

I'm also in job hunt mode, although being pretty selective with my applications as luckily I am not in a rush to quit my current position. I came across something in the local hospital, a lab role, I started the application but I am not very sure I will send it. I am honestly not sure I am brave enough or have the stomach for this one:

Have a lovely day, folks. I'm not sure what I will do until my evening shift. Woke up to rain and thunder and thinking it would be ideal to stay home reading, but now the sun is out and I'm conflicted!

If it is a job you really like the look of you would find there are so many H & S procedures in place in terns of handing the hazard materials that there would be minimal risk if you observed them, as for the smells, tell me about it, there are just some smells that stay with you for life. I worked in a microbiology lab and there were just some things that smelt really bad.

I can imagine. I am not a person with an very sensitive nose, but I'm not immune to unpleasant smells. I'm concerned about the sight too, although I've seen some gross food waste. I am guessing it would put me off my lunch until I get used to it :D

Thanks for the reassurance regarding health and safety. I might give it a go. There's no guarantee they will even get back to me...

Also, a mini rant: what's with this "if you haven't heard back from us in 4 weeks please assume you haven't been successful in this occasion..."? In 4 weeks, do they seriously not have time to send you a generic email saying you were not selected?

I think that’s really rude, but it seems to be the way things are these days. My son was told not to expect a reply when he was job hunting, for quite specialist engineering posts, so you wouldn’t think they’d have been inundated with applicants.

Hi everyone - bit late on. Put a new sensor on last night and I think it must be reading really low as my low alarm went off twice in the night and I wasn't lying on it and it's been quite low all day - don't get me wrong, I like a low reading but I don't actually believe it. I did a couple of finger pricks and they were about 1 point higher so not loads. Been out and about with the puppy in the car today - she's not a good traveller, in that she's really calm but suddenly vomits. She did once and then was good as gold for the rest of the journey so maybe we're making progress. I drove off to pick up a plant that had been delivered miles away during the snow to a remote house over near Ullswater - can't think why it went there. Anyway, the people somehow managed to find me on our village Facebook page so that was nice of them. In the meantime I've actually been sent a replacement but I don't mind having 2! The I went to Rheged to do a bit of puppy training standing outside and enticing Elsa to walk with me - she's quite timid but actually did really well and the great thing was that quite a few people just walked straight past her without making a fuss. She's such a gorgeous big fluff ball that that is no mean feat, but we don't want her thinking that everyone will stroke her because then she's like to go asking for it and potentially jump up and she'll be HUGE. @eggyg thought of you when I was there and our mammoth 5 hour chat sessions  I'm off to yoga at 5.30pm - so tempted to light the fire and snuggle up with the dogs instead but I WILL go. Son, wife and dog coming up to stay tonight - he's meant to be going to an event in Glasgow which undoubtedly he won't be able to get to with the storm coming through, but think they just want some home time. Have a good evening everyone and @eggyg thinking of you every day xxx

About 30 years ago I applied for a job with the Health and Safety Executive and was surprisingly invited for interview. I casually aske how many people they were interviewing and they said 50 for 4 posts. I asked how many applicants they had had and was gobsmacked when they said 5000. I felt quite pleased with myself for even getting an interview.
You never seem to be able to predict how many people apply for a job sometimes it would be very few, like less than 10, other times it could be over a hundred. We would shortlist about 8 as we found that at least 2 people just wouldn't turn up.

In my last few years in the NHS, we'd sometimes get hundreds of people applying for a job via the central NHS Jobs website who didn't come close to meeting the Person Specification for the job: they'd simply send their existing application form off in response to almost any job that came up.

It used to sadden me that people applied for jobs that they were grossly over qualified for, people with a PhD applying for a job that was essentially lab washing up. We had very strict criteria for who we short listed.

Evening all - a very mixed day we've had with rain, wind and sunny mild periods.

Woke with 6.7 which I was OK with. Hubby had a 12 noon Chiro appointment and we were going to the cinema with a friend to see "Maria" which started at 1:45. I made up cheese and chutney sandwiches as we had no sandwich meats in the fridge. That's the last time I shall be doing that as BGs just rose and rose this afternoon and of course I was sitting still all afternoon. I also realised that my PDM is calculating my doses to get me to 6.1 not 5.5 as I had set in my previous PDM. Unfortunately that's the lowest it will go. The line was frightening though and I weighed everything so carb count should have been right! It's totally ruined the 100% TIR I had over the period I had reverted to manual.

Anyway we enjoyed Maria, we all thought Angelina Jolie did an excellent job playing Maria (Callas) even though the tale was a bit disjointed at times. There were some surprises in Callas' history to be sure! But OMG that voice!!!! The bits where Callas was singing were amazing. Jolie did a workmanlike bit of opera singing.

Hopefully the BGs will continue to fall as we are having fish and chips for dinner - the "giant" battered cod fish fingers and some skin-on chips. Perhaps even some mushy peas, though I'll not have them if this BG doesn't come down a lot more.

@eggyg thinking of you and Brian and hoping things will take place soon and take the stress away. How brill that you have the hand-fasting prize to look forward to!

Congratulations to @Pam123 on your hat trick.

Have a good evening all..
