Don't worry, it doesn't hurt and your eyesight will be vastly improved afterwards. I had both eyes done last summer. The only thing I did not like were the restrictions you have for a few weeks after - no dusting, no gardening etc etc and the worst of all - no bending down. It's very hard not to bend down!SIL is having a cataract operation today, everyone says it’s a simple procedure now so hoping it all works well for her. At my last optician appointment I was told I had the start of cataracts but they were happy to leave me for 2 years until my next check, so I’m just hoping it is slow progressing for me. Still feels scary though!
Other half had about 4 different pairs of glasses during the treatment for the 2 eyes, so though the treatment was free, cost of all the different glasses even using some old frames was not insignificant.Don't worry, it doesn't hurt and your eyesight will be vastly improved afterwards. I'd be quite content with the no dusting directiveDon't worry, it doesn't hurt and your eyesight will be vastly improved afterwards. I had both eyes done last summer. Yes, I had the same invite before Christmas and did not take it up. I admit to feeling guilty about that, but I am quite settled on my tablets that I take just now having had Metformin reduced to two tablets a day and just did not want to risk messing about just now.I had a invite in the post to take part in a drug trial by University of Oxford, the ASCEND PLUS. It is a trial for oral semaglutide in the context of protection of people who are Type 2 against the risks of other major diseases.
They appear to have identified me from medical records ????
I'm not sure I really want to be part of this given I currently take no medication and my HbA1C is in normal range below 42mmol/mol by following low carb.
I'm not sure it would be an appropriate medication if indeed I was not given the placebo.
Anybody else heard of this trial.
If you want to get rid of old glasses to go for reuse rather than just be crushed then the British Lions Club take them, either at some of their local charity shops or by post to the Birmingham depot.Hello everyone - very late. It's been a dry day but very cold here.
8.3 this morning, following a very flat line overnight. I went to bed @ 9:30pm, more or less on top of dinner, so maybe it was that. I was deathly tired as I hadn't slept well at all the night before. In contrast, last night I slept solidly apart from 1 bathroom visit, right through to 8:30 this morning. That's very unusual for me (and much appreciated!).
Have had a lovely afternoon meeting up with friends, we have laughed a lot and had fun. 1 lot of friends had some lovely news during that time as the people who were looking at their house which is on the market, were very favourably impressed and are looking at making a firm offer. We all have our fingers and toes crossed for them to be able to downsize at last!
@Leadinglights and @Eternal422 I didn't buy any new glasses during the process of getting my cataracts sorted. After the first one I found 9 pairs of glasses in various drawers in the house, tried em all on, settled on a pair "that would do" and that was it until the "all clear" on the 2nd operation. I can now see amazingly long distance, but still need specs for reading and have varifocals from ASDA that are brilliant and cost all of £139.
@dannybgoode great photos and so pleased your boy has cracked it and is having fun!
@Lisa65 sorry to hear your news. Does this mean you might get redundancy?
Hope everyone has had a nice day.
