Hope everyone had a nice one, whatever (if anything) you celebrate. I had a traditional celebration for the first time in a few years and really, really enjoyed it. Big family meals, lot of lovely food (and not really carby this year, except for dessert), admittedly more alcohol that I regularly drink... I got to open presents which was exciting, the past few years I was away in this dates so my family sent money and that's very practical and appreciated, but I missed the surprises!
In my family Christmas Eve is the big deal, when we all dress up in our finest and have special food. We started after 9 pm, waited just 15 minutes into Christmas Day to open the presents, stayed at my grandparents until almost 3 am. Loads of chat and laughs, and a funny situation with Secret Santa where two of my aunties received the same model of handbag, each of them was bought by one of my parents, they did NOT know they've chosen the same! My mum had shown me the bag she got for Auntie A, and when I saw Auntie B open her bag I thought there was some mistake.
I managed dinner very well until the sweet selection came around, BG stayed fine for a while, then at 2 am I literally told my Libre to go F itself because it said 16 and rising. I apologised later, I know that's just shooting the messenger. Yes, I realise the Libre is an inanimate object, all that was me being silly after a few glasses of wine 😛
Christmas lunch was a more relaxed affair, in comparison, and the relatives that came from other cities went back home after. My parents, brother and I ended up going to my other grandma's house for coffee and got to see some other family members. Then we had a light snacky dinner and watched "Love actually" at home (none of us had watched it yet, believe it or not!). All in all a very complete, festive day 🙂
