Group 7-day waking average?

Yesterday I delivered the finished stained glass panel I had made for someone and thankfully she was delighted with it much to my relief. Whenever you make something there is always that nervous moment that they will not like it.
Thought I would share here.

Beautiful!

@Leadinglights - lovely stained glass window!

Now I understand your name on here! My son had a period working for a stained glass company and did the removal of old lead from existing windows, replacing with new lead as part of renovating windows.

That is good to hear, as many of what appear to be stained glass windows are just stuck on coloured plastic and stick on lead. It is a shame so much of the old windows just get replaced with double glazed.
I made some panels for the front door of my daughters house which is 1890 and had just just some horrible opaque glass in.

Stunning

Morning all 6.3 for me.

Been to the shops with Mrs khskel. Mission accomplished last minute present sorted.

Band meeting this afternoon at Wetherspoons but I shall not be drinking. We only go there because our guitarist is a tight wad and he likes a pint of Worthington's for less than £2.

Have a good day everyone.

5.1 this morning just had a spot of lunch and now were going shopping, hubby is joining daughter and boyfriend for a curry tonight as they don't finish work until 7 so need to get something for myself, I hate curry, see if I can get out of the shops without buying stuff we don't really need.

Afternoon all - a lovely day today with temps in double figures. Pity, yesterday it lashed down from midday and the carol singers came into the local soaked to the skins. Much to everyone's surprise the same person who won the luxury advent calendar (and she got a diamond pendant out of it today) also won the luxury hamper - oh well it was full of chocolate and we don't need it!

7.8 first thing, much to my disappointment. What's with the HCL that it hadn't corrected down to 6.1. Most of the night it had been 5.8.

We are entertaining 2 friends at 5:30 with cheese and wine, before going onto the local for the pub quiz. We were a team of 6 but two have got some sort of virus thing. We shan't win, we're hopeless really but it's fun!

I confess to being a bit offended this morning by the friend who is coming for Christmas day. She sent a WhatsApp saying that she'd done all her cards and wrapping. I commented that I had too. She never actually thinks before opening her mouth... and the next thing that came out of it was "well, that's all the work done, all you have to do now is have fun". I bit my tongue, who does she think is going to do all the shopping, preparation and cooking to put on canapes followed by a 4 course meal for her on Christmas day?? Ah well, it's Christmas and we must all be charitable.

@eggyg I am sorry to read of your MIL's current situation. Sending love and hugs.

@Leadinglights your stained glass is absolutely beautiful! The woman we bought our last house off had removed the stained glass from the inner porch door and put obscure glass in. When we went to the glazier's to see if we could get stained glass panels he told us that he'd been called to take out the beautiful full length landing window that was a real feature of the house and had refused (thank goodness).

@Lisa65 congratulations on your HS.

Have a good day all!

I was initially diagnosed some 22 years ago with T2, had 4 years on Metformin and then 1 year on Metformin with Glibenclamide. During this 5 year period my HbA1c climbed from 71 through to 144 at which point I came off the oral meds and went onto insulin which I have been on since then (about 17 years). My HbA1c dropped to 44 and has hovered around there up to 50 ever since.

But now the consultant, having done a C-Peptide test, says that I am more likely T2 than T1 and has suggested trailing oral meds, coming off insulin. Bit bizarre as oral meds didn’t help me at all so why should they now? Today my DSN said there is no pressure for me to come off insulin and she would discuss options with me with regard to possible benefits of oral meds. I’m still leaning towards staying on insulin as it works well for me and is flexible with regard to what and when I eat and so fits in with my lifestyle. I have an appointment with my DSN on Monday face to face so will be able to have a good discussion then. Let’s see what transpires.
That sounds like classic LADA - slow onset T1 in adults. FWIW the Joslin institute in the USA conducted a study on long term T1s (average 50 years) and discovered that those who did not have complications, or only minor ones, were still producing some of their own insulin.

Interesting. I had wondered if this was a possibility, but my consultant seems to be of the school of there is only T1 and T2, and of course I don’t fit T1 so therefore I must be T2, especially as I still produce some insulin all these years after original diagnosis. I’ll raise this with my DSN on Monday, she does email and get fast responses from the consultant so I’m sure anything relevant will be fed to her and back.

I could believe I am T2 with a tired pancreas, so some insulin but not loads therefore requiring some help from endogenous insulin, so perhaps the consultant is correct? Except for the fact that neither Metformin nor Glibenclamide did anything at all to improve things for me, even right after diagnosis.

Thanks for suggesting thoughts, it is so good to have this group for support, especially at times like this of uncertainty. It feels a bit like how I was at my original diagnosis, I’m going through all the usual denial, anger, depression, etc. :(

I have given you a link to the Joslin study in your other thread. See what the DSN says about it.

That would certainly have been a tragedy.

Morning all. 5.8.

Apparently it’s Friday, absolutely lost with the days this week, goodness knows what I’ll be like next week! Very busy and chaotic day yesterday. We were cream crackered after they all left. And then Mr Eggy had to go and visit his mother. Not good, still under the delirium team, still on antibiotics as UTI lingering, she’s not eating but they’re managing to get her to drink something, but not enough, sleeping all day and awake all night and very confused. And to top it all, they now have Covid as well as flu on the ward!

We may now be having two granddaughters sleeping over tonight as well as tomorrow. They’re 12 and almost 7 so it’s not quite as difficult as looking after babies and toddlers. It’s not until after school, so we’ve got a wee bit peace for a few hours! Got lots of prepping for tomorrow night’s Christmas party and for Sunday as all the hordes are coming to exchange presents, eldest daughter is working on Christmas Day and middle daughter’s husband is too! It’ll be strange not seeing them on Christmas Day but that’s life and it goes on regardless.

Have a fab Friday.

Morning and a 6.5 for me but happy enough with that.
Saga of leaky pipe drags on as I have a Home-care Agreement with British Gas to deal with Plumbing issues and have not claimed in about 4 years so I did get one of their engineers to come out from 40 miles away but he could not find the leak and thought it may be in a solid wall rather than behind the kitchen unit which we suspect.
Anyway said he needs to call out the leak detection specialist and after a discussion with their HO they are sending another guy out to confirm whether they need to send the leak detection specialist and if he is needed then he can’t come until after Xmas.
We said we can’t be expected to have no water until leak is sorted but they said he is busy.
So need to sort something out by calling in someone local and we will get there but likely need to take some of fitted kitchen units out but that is not as important as getting water back on.
Anyway have a Good Friday I am feeling a bit of a drip today 🙂

6.9 this morning. Very pleased with that, feel I'm getting a grip on it and not the other way round now.

I work in insurance so a lot of it clients and brokers are winding up for Christmas now so it'll be quiet on an enquiry point of view now at work but all that means is that we've got a couple of weeks to mop up all the little projects that get put to one side through the rest of the year.

Still, it's Friday and I'm looking forward to the weekend 🙂

Good morning 6.9 today

Have a fabulous Friday everyone 😎
