I only took empagliflozin for a week but didn’t have this side effect. Have you been drinking plenty as dehydration could make you feel a bit rubbish, or have your blood sugars changed as that could make you feel different too. If it doesn’t settle though, go back and speak about it.

    Diabetes and ileostomy

Sorry to hear you aren’t feeling positive @Juliamax Hope the new meds suit you better. Have you considered calling the Diabetes UK Helpline for their advice?

    Diabetes and ileostomy

Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I think it’s gonna be a long struggle, have now changed T2 meds to Empagliflozin to see if any difference, not feeling too positive just now, medically nobody seems to be bothered let alone want to help. Seems to be general pattern these days.

    Hypos not below 4mmol

...all your replies. Sorry not replied sooner but had a lot going on. I’m on metformin & sitaglyptin. Was on gliclazide then changed to Empagliflozin but getting side effects with that which aren’t improving so getting put back on gliclazide whilst wait to be seen by diabetes clinic. Will make...

    Hi from Glasgow

Has your cPeptide ever been checked, to see how much of your own insulin you are still able to produce? I wonder if the autoimmune checks you might have had were for Addisons or something else, rather than to check GAD antibodies which might have been for LADA (slow onset T1 in adults)

    Hi from Glasgow

...whats happening. I’ve never smoked, not overweight, run 5k 3 times a week, take metformin 500 twice a day plus gliclizide and empagliflozin. I’ve been tested for an auto immune deficiency but nothing checks out. I’ve worked through the whole pandemic so, have been lucky not to have been holed...

    CGM

At that sort of cost I would be using my cheap glucose monitor and a pot of strips. But having the system has obviously been successful for you so good work.

    CGM

...of myself my HbA1c was 75. The next one was 47, and today was 43. I've been taking: 4 x 500mg Metformin 2 x 40mg Gliclazide 1 x 10mg Empagliflozin The nurse has suggested I stop taking 1 of the Gliclazides for a while and see how I get on. I'm also gonna see how I go without the CGM for...

    New medication

I was advised by my gp to take my gliclazide in the morning before breakfast (along with metformin, linagliptin and empagliflozin). He said that as gliclizide can cause hypos its better to take it in the morning than at night so as not to drop too low during the night.

Blood Glucose is 11.8 after eating yikes :(

It does rather depend on when you tested and if you ate all those things together, but yes the sugar free cookies will have quite a few carbs, it should say on the packet and even a small 125g box of blueberries will have nearly 20g carb. The carbs should be on the pack of raiders so the only...

Blood Glucose is 11.8 after eating yikes :(

It depends on what you mean when you say remission. I am very uncomfortable with the definition appearing on this website which basically means being able to control blood glucose levels without medication. The reason I am uncomfortable with that is that it may give false hope to people who...

Blood Glucose is 11.8 after eating yikes :(

...with starch) and certainly not the fish (I've tested regularly for this in the past). Should I take my other meds now (linagliptin and empagliflozin) or should I just wait and test in a few hours? We've discussed this often on here but I think the culprit must be the cookies. Does this mean...

Any advice gratefully received - Getting use to an SGLT2 medication

Hi thank you for the reply. It was listed as a side effect on the medicine leaflet But I hadn’t realised peeing a lot more for me would be about every hour. Which has been really hard. My BG has been in the high and dangerous which is why I was put on this medication as I could only get it to...

Any advice gratefully received - Getting use to an SGLT2 medication

Hi and welcome to the forum. I take empagliflozin (amongst others) I didn't really notice an increase in peeing, only if my sugars are running a bit to high (but that can be normal for high blood sugars though). As it makes you pee out excess glucose. I was advised to drink plenty of fluids to...

Any advice gratefully received - Getting use to an SGLT2 medication

...away the excess glucose by making you wee more too. SGLT2s are often prescribed under the names canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, and empagliflozin, or under brand names like forxiga. We have a few members on these meds including @Stitch147 I think. You might get some hints from these threads...
