What are you reading?

Just started and almost also nearly finished the new Jack Reacher, In too deep, I'm a huge Lee Childs/Jack Reacher fan, (probably the military connection of the character, and also I'd wished, I'd have joined the Military Police, when I eventually joined the military and had the chance). Although you do have to wonder how Reacher (as he prefers to be called, is actually still alive. Often taking on several assailants at the same time).

I was never a 'bookworm', although as I've gotten older I've found myself now reading a lot, and have my own little library at home now.

my old diarys from when i was 18 and full of hope, i seem to have gone out a lot and got drunk 😱 i have kept a diary for 45 years now
Me too, now I'm slowly destroying all the evidence for when I pop my clogs! 😱

Middlemarch. Great read, but as an aside realise I couldn't stand living in a small or smallish town where everyone knows everyones business. The gossip machine works overtime. Prefer the anonymity of London.

I love Middlemarch, I've read it three times, the precursor of the modern soap opera. The only problem is the type seems to get smaller each time.

I read it every year and each time I find something new. This year, I am fascinated by the emphasis on furniture. I also read Turn of the Screw annually.

Happy reading

Turn Of The Screw is horrid and the films. Nasty. Not to mention scary. :D

Not sure I woukd agree with horrid but it is certainly a very disturbing book to read.

Finished Lemonade and Liess, enjoyed. Now started See her Die by Melinda Leigh, a American police prudureal .

Heard a number of good things about....
"Ingrained: An uplifting and passionate memoir about woodworking and craftsmanship" by Callum Robinson which I shall be starting shortly.

Nonces are bad enough without them coming back from the dead. I saw the trailers back in the day at the flicks, don't think they should even have let the trail be shown to all and sundry. I've read his other ghost stories but I'm not keen on vintage stuff, they waffle on such a lot and feel the need to justify stuff and show how sensible they are. Give me a large print modern book any day of the week. 🙂

Just about to start Murder Before Evensong, by The Reverend Richard Coles, not sure how much I will read today, but I will let you all know what I think of it. I am a fan of the Thursday Murder Club, the Marlow Murders, so hoping I enjoy this.

Finished See Her Die, which I enjoyed.
Started Career of Evil, by Robert Galbraith, I know, I said I would not read any more of books, but I forgot I already had it on my Kindle.

I picked a hardback up for £2 last week in a charity shop that was only published this year. The Dream House by TM Logan. I’ve read a few of his and a couple have been televised ( not very well). It’s a type of psychological thriller and I am enjoying it. Just bought Peter May’s Black Loch on Apple Books for 99p, it’s the fourth part of his Lewis trilogy ( I know), which I loved, I love all Scottish noir. I’m saving it for my holidays next month which is the only time I read ebooks as I don’t have enough room to pack all the books I need!

I have just finished Middlemarch, oh such a great read and am now going to read Little Woman. I don't recall ever reading it but have seen film versions.

The closer it gets toward Xmas I start to think what, I will read during the holiday season.

The nations favorite 20 century poems ed griff rhys jones a book i can dip in and out of

I bunked off school back in the day so I could finish Little Women. 🙂 I then read them all, you're in for a treat. All true except the last book and I wish that one was true too. Sad that it wasn't.

I finished Donald E. Westlake's first Dortmunder last night, The Hot Rock. Laughed like a drain, genius writing imho. I'll start the second one tonight. It's ages since I read them all.

I only started to read ebooks this summer, and last month treated myself to an actual Kindle reader (I was using my phone, which is not so good). It will be very convenient for my upcoming holiday as well, although I'm going to a town packed full with bookshops so I'm likely to come back with physical books too!

And I must say, those Amazon 99p ebooks are a dangerous temptation :D

I couldn’t read on my phone, headache inducing. I have Apple Books on my iPad, fortunately when Kindle have offers Apple Books usually follow. Yes, the 99p ones are hard to resist. On occasions I get free ones, the Classics are often free.
