What are you reading?

I'm reading 'The Shipping Forecast' by Nic Compton, a nice gentle read. Double page spread a night along with 'Cheshire Christmas' and Margaret Forster's 'Lady's Maid' a chapter a night. I thought this was going to be a slow read but it turns out it's a gripper, have to make myself put it down. My main book was 'Smoke' again by Donald E Westlake but I finished it last night. Now I have a new book to choose tonight, the excitement might prove too much.

just started Miss Reads Village Affairs a book I have reed b4 but one i can read again

as if she were free collective biography of women and emancipation in the Americas
a great interesting read full of provoking tales

I'm reading Corkscrew by Donald E. Westlake. I'm gripped. The murder scene was brutal. I don't remember reading it last time. I must have blanked it as it's bad. :(

Found The Mist a bit confused but all made sense in the end.
Now reading Missing Angel by Roger Stelles.

I'm now reading The Ax by Donald E. Westlake. A tad depressing.

Presently "Table for Two" by Amor Towles. It's a set of short stories and a novella. Lovely writing and witty tales with a clever, sometimes sad, twist at the end.

After that "A Voyage Around the Queen" by Craig Brown.

Finished DEW The Ax, very grim. :( Not sure what to read now, spoilt for choice. 🙂

I found it was not a good idea to read more than a book at a time, so I am now focused on Interview with the vampire. It is a good book but intense, I need to be in the mood to read it. Making good progress now, I am hoping to finish by the end of the month. Oh, and I treated myself to a second hand Kindle, so those e-books I had pending will be more appealing now that I don´t have to read on the phone.

Finished The Stranger Dairies it took a while to get into. Now started The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves, it is a Vera of the TV series , so far seems similar to the TV.

@eggyg i thought The Nightingale sounded familiar. Its on my kindle wish list.

Currently reading The German Daughter by Marius Gabriel.

I did like that book but my fave is The Body Thief because it's LeStat who's the star of the whole show if you ask me. I always imagined him as Julian Sands for some reason and then I go and read last week that is who Anne Rice had in mind when she wrote him. 🙂

I'm reading Margaret Forsters 'Private Papers' which I don't think I've read. Might be a mistake though reading two of hers at once. Might have to rethink that.

I just finished "Holly" by Stephen King. It's a lovely bit of plotting and writing with good characters and free of King-isms that you sometimes get when he's being a bit lazy.

Have I read that? Can't remember, think so. I've given away all my Kings so can't check. 🙄

It came out in paperback fairly recently, Holly is a private eye and apart from the rather grizzly nature behind her investigations it doesn't feature anything ghoulish as in older SKs. She appeared as a minor character in earlier book(s) and he liked her so much he decided to giver her a whole book of her own. That should give you a clue. If you're a hard back or Kindle reader you might have read it.

Finished the DarkestvEvening, bit suprised by the ending.
Now starting Pancakes and Corpses (Peridale Cafe Cozy Mystery Book 1) by Agatha Frost, the series was a recommendation from a friend.

my old diarys from when i was 18 and full of hope, i seem to have gone out a lot and got drunk 😱 i have kept a diary for 45 years now
