Group 7-day waking average?

4.2 this morning for me. Seems now we’re home and the weather is cooler my BG has settled down to my normal levels.

My order of bits for an antenna for my amateur radio is due this morning so I can get started on sorting all that out. I’m enlisting help from a local TV aerial guy to put up a small mast on the gable end, amazingly he has previously helped other local amateurs and more than happy to take on the job.

Booked in for our cruise which is now fast approaching. This time we are having a few days in Daytona Beach then going on the week long cruise which goes to the Bahamas, a couple of places in Mexico and Roatan island, Honduras. Looking forward to it all as well as seeing my wife’s niece (Cruise Director) and her fiancé (Shore Excursions Manager) who are our hosts and enabling us to go on the cruise as their guests. Feel really lucky to be able to do this.

Just got back from Santander, still no progress. The old cheque has been cancelled, but the issuing-cheques department has said they don't have the authority to reissue it!
The girl I spoke to is going to make some enquiries and get back to me later, but I don't hold out much hope. I'll have to make an appointment to see the branch manager next (she wasn't in today)
 
6.1 on Home Alone Wednesday 🙂 with the sun playing peek-a-boo and a cool breeze keeping the temperature down. Started the day with a long-overdue haircut and now plan to tackle the laundry, which I can hopefully get dry on the line.

Good news yesterday for our eldest and his girlfriend - they have both got their NZ work visas approved. Our eldest has been invited to join a NZ Futsal team and will be heading there after Xmas. He was playing with a couple of Kiwis last season, who have now gone home, hence the invite. He and his girlfriend plan to make it a working holiday, staying for maybe a year. With our youngest starting Uni in September my wife and I are going to be empty nesters for most of 2026.

@Pam123 - pleased to hear your husband’s appointment was positive and that your inheritance is finally through.

Despite being a Welshman I was happy to see the Lionesses win last night, even if they left it late, and am looking forward to the final on Sunday.

what a day its been, I am shattered but wanted to post an update on hubbies appointment with the oncologist this morning, long story but its positive, when he was diagnosed 4 yours ago the lung cancer had spread into his plural cavity and there was no cure except the immunotherapy which could extend his life up to 2 years, that was 4 years ago and he had the treatment for the first 2 years, now the treatment has stopped working in that the primary node in his lung has grown a little bit, but everything else and the spread has gone, so now rather than wait they are going to use target the tumour with oral tablets and if they don't work then they will do another biopsy in case it has changed to a different cancer which can happen then target that, he said he was fit and well with no symptoms and if he wanted to have the biopsy first they were happy to chance it but we decided to not wait for up to 6 weeks and opted for the treatment, knowing if it doesn't work if just means the cancer has changed to another mutation. yesterday the probate money from my dads will was paid into our bank, so this afternoon we went out and bought new sofas, and had a meal out, I want to book a holiday but we've decided to wait and see how the tablets effect him first which apparently will be delivered some time next week.

That sounds very positive and hopefully the targeted therapy will be effective.
That type of approach worked for a friend who had had multiple treatments for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which had not been too successful but had some targeted therapy which has successfully put him in remission. So fingers crossed for your husband.
Probably best to hold off on the holiday for now, travel insurance may be an issue if undergoing treatment.
 
We decided the time had come to replace our car and OH was favouring a petrol plug in hybrid and had sussed out a couple of potentials so we went to look. First one a MG was too long to fit on the drive, the other a Mazda was so complicated with so many features that were controlled by your phone. The rep was saying 'you just do this or that ' which to me didn't sound all that simple, I felt the car would be controlling me.
If this is what a new car is like give me an old banger any day.
Any recommendations folks?

Although only a hire car, we had a Volvo xc40, hubby found it easy to get to grips with the systems on it, lovely drive, spacious without being to big. Once he gets his late fathers money through the xc40 or bigger version xc60 are the top cars on his wish list, we also hired a Ford Kuga last year and up until we had the xc40 the Kuga had been the car he wanted to buy. However you need to try a few cars still to find what suits and of course your budget. We were lucky in because we needed to hire some cars hubby got to drive 2 different models for a week at a time, using both motorways, small twist country roads etc.

Have a look at the Hyundai range. I had one until a couple of years ago when I gave up owning a car. It was excellent.

surprised to get a 5.2 this morning and more or less a straight line all night, I drank almost a bottle of red wine last night
but helped me sleep, but had a banging headache this morning which I just about going off now, still feel shell shocked after all that's happened, hubby just takes it all in his stride as if nothing is wrong anyway we are going forward now with a different options and he is 100% better than he was 4 years ago. sorry if ive missed all the HS people over the last week.

We are hoping to go to Jersey which won't involve insurance, He just wants to make sure the tablet which he needs to take every day will not make him feel ill, He had no side effects with the immunotherapy which the doctor said yesterday he should be ok with this treatment so we will have time to see how it pans out.
 
Last Friday/Saturday i decided to buy a steamer to take on holiday. I ordered one from a well known online store and it was due to be delivered before 1pm Sunday. Come Sunday morning i got a notification that it was 3 stops away. By 1pm the delivery time had changed to 11pm. Then next day changed to today (4 days later) and saying if its not received today to go back to them for a refund. Then this afternoon, still no steamer delivered, i had this.....

Are they having a laugh?!!! Really!! Sorry, rant over and i'm now requesting the refund.

We have a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which we are happy with. It's getting a bit old now so I expect the newer version has more all singing all dancing electronics.

It's not surprising you feel shell shocked. It will take you.both time to process everything you have found out in the last few days. I hope you both get to visit Jersey soon.

I would investigate that a bit more - Jersey doesn't come under the NHS, no travel insurance might be very risky.
But good to hear your news.
