Group 7-day waking average?

Morning all. 6.4. Off back to the hospital to see mum again today. I really hope she's out soon.

@eggyg i'm jealous of your sunshine yesterday. Here it was very foggy all day and today looks to be the same. All very grey and gloomy.

@Grannylorraine i hope you feel better for your weekend.

@rebrascora nice to "see" you on the thread. We've missed you.

Have a good day everyone.

Had a good Christmas generally and diabetes-wise.
A 6.5 this morning.
The challenge now, having had family round, is how to deal with the leftovers that normally would not reside in our fridge!
And I don't mean turkey!!

5.9 on waking this foggy morning.

Lovely evening yesterday at my daughter’s, picking up my son and his girlfriend on the way. We had a lovely time and the grandchildren were both in a great mood and even went to bed when first asked without any fuss. We all ended up chatting for ages and we got back home after 11pm, which felt late for us .

We were thinking about a walk today but may end up staying in as it looks very damp and foggy still. At some point we need to pop along to the local hospital pharmacy to collect my prescription for Abasaglar so I can start it. Will be interesting to see how it differs from the Levemir, I’m hoping for better coverage in the evenings, towards the end of its action duration. I never managed to do a basal test for that period but always found myself doing bolus corrections of Novorapid as BG gradually rose late evening until bedtime.

Take care everyone!

6.9 for me this morning, but it was a second night of battling the effects of Xmas Pud. Has anyone found a successful formula/ratio/insulin for this. Normal rules clearly don't apply and Fiasp can't cope with the extended release. I threw in a walk late last night as well as 5 correction units before we set off, when I hit 12.6 with a vertical upwards arrow. My sister and I stargazed and constellation spotted as we walked which made it a rather slow meander as you really can't yomp whilst craning your neck skyward. That brought me down to 8mmols after 50 mins but by the time I drove home an hour later I was rising again, so hit it with another 2u and an increase in Levemir before bed, then another unit 40 mins later as levels continued to climb, which thankfully dropped me into the 6s by 2am but woke at 6.30am on 11.6 as that richness just kept giving, so jabbed another 4units and went back to sleep, to get my eventual waking reading of 6.9 at a shocking 9.45am when I got up.
No chocolate passed my lips the whole 3 days but I did enjoy the Christmas pud, just impossible to bolus for and no opportunity to practice.

Like others I am back to low carb today and looking forward to an easier ride with my diabetes! Thank heaven my consultant appointment was Christmas Eve!

Hope those of you who are suffering the lurgy are better soon and hats off to those who achieved an HS over the past 2 days.

Morning all 8.9 for me this morning.Still shaking this flu off .Well off to mark's and sparks to get food shopping in for next week.Hopefully won't be as bad as last Friday .As long. As I can get my greek feta salads and the rest of my exiting diet . Wasn't always like this .Must have gotten a bit wiser as I got older . Enjoy today folks

Morning / afternoon.

Nice catching up on everyone’s last few days.

I had a nice flatline all night. Shame it was and still is at 14.2. Checked finger prick. I think the naughty elf switched insulin for water. I wouldn’t mind but I haven’t eaten anything “bad” apart from a bit of triffle and a few crisps.

Or it might be to do with the flare up from the dexcom I trialled in mid October and the bit of filament that broke off that’s still in my arm and nicely infected. Have an ultra sound scan on Monday (emergency one …..from November) to locate bit before the clean it out. I feel pretty yuck (and sorry for myself) at them moment.

Have a good day one and all

I’m lucky in that I don’t like mince pies, Christmas cake or Christmas pudding so I’ve never had to he concerned about it. But…the sticky toffee puddings I made I quite easily could have scoffed one but I didn’t know where to start so I was a martyr and didn’t bother, to be honest I was full after my Christmas dinner so it wasn’t too much of a martyrdom!
The remaining five are now in the freezer out of temptation’s way, for both of us!

Morning all - a lovely one it is not....

7.0 first thing. I really haven't been that naughty. Just a couple of Lidl gingerbreads (Lebkutchen) with icing and a small portion of Xmas pud. The gingerbreads are in a bowl on the coffee table taunting me still! Yesterday we had leftovers - that beef was spectacular, you could cut it with a fork. Expensive but worth it!

Today need to nip to Sainsbury's for some party food thingies... Last night in a fit of generosity I invited 4 people round for "a few nibbles and some wine" and a game of Carcassonne tomorrow afternoon. We still have an over-abundance of cheeses too! So they can snack on a cheeseboard as well. We have the remaining half of a cooked chicken for tonight.

Get well all those who are suffering.... and congrats to anyone who has achieved an HS.

Yes, it's lovely to see Barbara posting again. We missed you!

Have a lovely day all!

Carcassonne is a (very) complicated board game. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcassonne_(board_game) We have all the extensions, when finished it covers the entire dining table. Lots of rules and they change depending on which extension games you are playing with. We've been playing it for many years and we really want some other people to learn and challenge us. Unfortunately we've never found anyone else who can play, so are hoping to teach our friends.

5.7 this morning its so foggy today didn't want to go out but had to get fresh bread and everyone wanted Pizza tonight
except me as I don't like it, I will be having a salad with cheeses and ham and maybe one tiny French crusty roll enjoy the rest of your day everyone

I've never heard of that game. Years ago our friends were Gibson's games and we used to get invited round to try new games that people had brought to the company and they had them made up as a prototype to try out to see if they worked. It was quite fun to be guinea pigs. It is good to see the company is still going even though the friends are sadly no longer with us. They are big in jigsaw puzzles as well.

Morning all. 6.5 here.

So glad to hear you had a fab Xmas @Elenka_HM - it’s those family get-togethers that I used to miss the most when I lived abroad.
I do miss them. Others assume I'd miss the weather or the food, but it really is the people.

A friend is in Spain to visit family for Christmas/New Year. They got an invite to a wealthy friend/neighbour for Christmas lunch/dinner. It was a seafood spread that included caviar, brown crab meat, lobster, etc. followed by sickly sounding desserts washed down with plenty of fine wine. Me jealous - No as I am allergic to seafood but some Bodegas Rioja I was treated to a few years ago, with my roast beef. For dessert I would go with vanilla ice cream with espresso and Frangelico poured over it - I used to use a family run Italian after work on Fridays when I commuted

Morning all, 6.0. A lot better than yesterday thank goodness. I'm working all weekend to cover the other chef who is in hospital with a nasty infection in his leg.
Hope you all have a great day 😎

Good morning 5.5 today

Yesterday I had my Pre-op (the eye surgery is on Monday) whilst the assessor who called me answered a few questions including expected recovery time, (they will sign me off initially for a minimum off 2 weeks off work)
I was surprised on the phone call to be told depending what time I’m seen / how the procedure goes, I may need to be overnighted.

DPD finally yesterday delivered (on behalf of Amazon) a computer monitor, they should’ve delivered that on the 23rd, I had actually received notification from Amazon only yesterday confirming it got lost in the system andthe replacement Amazon were sending yesterday is actually now due to be delivered today 🙄

Im going get up in a minute make cuppa & come back to bed and take a squint through the last few days posts

Have a Superb Saturday folks 😎
