Group 7-day waking average?

She even prescribed Abasaglar to replace my Levemir which is apparently being discontinued here in the UK in 2026 (I knew it had already been discontinued in the USA)
Did she say where this had come from? It’s been at the back of my mind, that where the US leads, we might follow, but I'd not heard of anything official. I swapped from Lantus (or its biosimilar, Abasalgar) because I really couldn’t get it to work for me, so if I’ve got to swap to something else in a couple of years, that’s a heartsink moment for me.(also, I use the Novopen Echo, which has the advantage of tracking the doses for me)

I'm sort of in the same boat. They moved me to Tresiba in 2020, but couldn't get it to work for me, and after about two months of trying I went back to Levemir. I would need to start thinking of alternatives if Levemir was withdrawn.

ETA

Diabetes UK has this article from the 19th of this month which confirms that Levemir will be withdrawn in 2026, but no further information is available at this moment.

She didn’t say, but just read this here on DUK dated December 19 2024 :

Levemir

We have been made aware that Novo Nordisk are planning to discontinue their Levemir insulin range, but not until 2026. At this stage, we do not have any further information because the Department of Health and Social care are working with leading health care professionals, insulin manufacturers and other relevant groups to plan for this discontinuation. In the new year, they will be producing and releasing a Medicines Supply Notification, providing national guidance for prescribers on what alternatives will be available and recommended. We will update this page when further information is available.
Healthcare professionals have been asked not to switch people from Levemir to an alternative insulin until the guidance on suitable alternatives has been issued. This is to make sure that the discontinuation in 2026 doesn’t affect the supply of other insulins now.

Good morning, 7.0 for me. I anticipate some high readings this morning because I'm going to be rushing around at work prepping for tomorrow, and I'm already stressing out!

Morning. 6.4

Went to see Devil Wears Prada yesterday. My review is that it’s fun. It’s not exceptional in any way but the music is fine, staging is decent, cast is good, lighting is good and it’s just fun. That’s not a bad thing at all and I’m not sure why the critics have been so harsh.

Sitting at the front of the dress circle and was delighted/amused to see that they still have opera glasses for hire between the seats for £1 in the slot!

Did some Waitrose shopping yesterday to buy my lunch for tomorrow (as it’s just me - no family Christmas this year) and it was a little busier than normal but not bonkers.

Seeing Titanique today.

Morning

5.2 today, couldn’t sleep so got up, I seem to either be so tired I sleep all day or not able to sleep at all. Plans today, finish the housework, I only need to vacuum downstairs, mop kitchen floor, hubby is off work so between us won’t take long, then prepping veg later, but as only 6 of us for dinner, not too much to do.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning a 6.2 after a couple of Dextrose when my alarm went off at 3.30 but soon got back to sleep.
Dogs walked and cup of tea at hand.Picked son up from work at 11pm last night and then taking him back in for 9am ( wish he wanted driving lessons as a Xmas present).Mind you he may be only one coming for Xmas Dinner as Son in Law got the lurgy.
Anyway Big day imminent so quiet day today with a trip to local Nursery to pay the balance for them to look after another Tree Fern we bought for them to over winter.
Xmas Eve getting exciting.

Morning all. 6.3 for me on waking. Up to 6.7 now, so clearly FOTF is kicking in to some extent. Breakfast will be an extended affair I think this morning - a case of nibbling on my yoghurt/granola while doing the Guardian Cryptic crossword and my usual suite of word puzzles.
Blood sugar was a little erratic late morning yesterday - a dear friend of mine was saying goodbye to a lovely pet she was having to get put down, due to lung cancer. Very sad at any time, but especially so near Christmas :(

Good morning 6.6 again today

a slightly challenging morning yesterday with a technology related (well for me challenging issue) work related problems can sometimes stress me, although in the end somebody from IT did help me & before the stress monster kicked in :party:I say a IT guy from the office, but in the real world he was probably as he often is working remotely from home, and not really a IT guy but a “CRM systems specialist”

Yesterday afternoon, had hospital appointment (eye department) as part of my pre-op, I needed I think they called it biometry assessment scans, as an eye related hospital visit I obviously rather than driving, bussed it (taxi to expensive & unreliable these days)
anyway due to not paying attention I ended up missing my stop 🙄
whilst I was busy creating my seasonal out of office, via the company phone, travelling on the Bus..
hmm
I only realised as the bus stopped outside the PostOffice (in town) where I then was

so a brisk walk / gentle run, good job i had normal footwear on as inclimate weather
anyway was soon back at the hospital and only a few minutes late
the appointment went well, the clinician said the team will be happy with the scans she obtained
the other part of my pre-op will be over the phone with the team down at Oxford on 27th (eye surgery due 30/12

rather than a bus ride home, I enjoyed a brisk walk back home yesterday - plenty of time to do some thinking about many things
aka as @eggyg would say “internal monologue-ing”
I’m trying to get my head in a good place ready for 2025 and whatever the new year throws at me / us

currently that internal monologue is telling me @goodybags you need to be able to have paid off the mortgage before 2030
and hopefully, now your in much better health
find a more rewarding career with more job satisfaction / possibly less working hours 🙄

I need to speak to my GP (to get one of my meds prescribed at a slightly different dose)
plus something else I haven’t spoken about with a GP for a few years about but kind of need to (non diabetes related) not sure if I will get hold of anyone today or after the Christmas holidays …

hmmm .. like many others this forum I’m thinking posting on here can help (yes I know internally monologging again)

Congrats to @Grannylorraine on todays HS :star:

I NEED coffee today (lack of sleep) and I’ve got some on-line training to complete this morning
hope you all have an a ever-so awesome day TC 😎

8.2 today. A shade high but I'll take it. I'm the office today. Just me and the boss so I'm hoping he takes pity and gives me an early dart.

Once home I need to finish clearing the dining room which is mainly my home office/ham shack/general dumping ground when we're sorting other rooms etc.

Then off to our favourite burger place tonight. Hoping to dose a bit better than last time we went.

My wife is working tomorrow (she's a nurse so is down for the morning shift) so a very early start so the boy can open his presents before she goes...

Good morning everyone

BG 5.5

Lots to prepare today but still no decorations. I know how scrooge felt!

a classic example of a post that warrants more than one emoji reaction @Grannylorraine but congratulations on the HS thought none of us want to celebrate a lack of s l e e p …

Morning all, 5.5 here. Need to pop down to the pharmacy again today, was so busy discussing a couple of issues on other items that the assistant forgot to get my insulin out of the fridge, and I forgot to check she’d got it out. Hopefully my ketone strips will have come in, they were expected later on yesterday, I hadn’t noticed my current ones had expired (I’m sure they’d still work) until my nurse asked me at my annual review.
Kids will be decorating the tree later (they are in their 30s, but they revert to childhood and start squabbling over where the strategic decorations should go) and I will put the cards up. We are traditional in our household, no putting the decs up early!

Happy Christmas Eve everyone. 5.6, I think, it was a while ago. Been awake since 4, as has Mr Eggy, both of us up at 6. No need to be, but minds whirring.🙄

I have one of my oldest friends, from school, coming to visit today. She’s comes every Christmas Eve, we exchange cards and I always make mince pies, I hate them she loves them. We’ll put the world to rights, catch up with the gossip and talk about our growing families. She’s a real Luddite and doesn’t own a mobile phone. I know! 😱 So we don’t text or message or interact on Facebook, we only see each other maybe a couple of times a year. When she’s gone we’re going to have a nana nap! No hospital visiting today as Mr E going tomorrow as his brothers can’t, or won’t more like, so he’s told them they can do today and Boxing Day. There’s only two of us for Christmas dinner and we don’t have it until 6ish, I’ll do the prepping of the veg etc whilst he’s visiting his mother. She’s free of infection, obs are fine but she’s still not eating or drinking enough and won’t engage with the Delirium Team at all, or anyone else for that matter. It’s a stressful situation for us all and it’s now getting to the stage that no one wants to visit. Mr Eggy thinks she’s putting it on, she’ll be lying there eyes closed, to all intents and purposes fast asleep, then she’ll quickly open one eye and have a peek to see if her visitors are still there then pretend to be asleep again. She’s very manipulative and has been all her life, according to her younger sister ( 84), the boys realised this after their dad died 18 years ago. Don’t know what the answer is. It’s a sad situation.

Anyhoo, enough of that. @Eternal422 I’m so pleased they’re “allowing” you to stay on insulin, doesn’t matter what flavour diabetes you have. I bet you are so relieved. You’ll sleep better now. What I’m not so pleased about is the future discontinuation of Levemir! 😡
@Grannylorraine many congratulations on your HS.

To everyone, have a fabulous Christmas, if you celebrate it, if not, have a lovely few days off work!

Morning all. 5.5 for me. I'm going to visit mum this morning and taking daughter and my brother. We were hoping she would be out of hospital yesterday but even though physio have said she's ok to go, the doctors are now concerned about something else. Mum was really upset yesterday. She's had enough now after almost 5 weeks.

Hubby has just gone to work but finishes at 2pm.

@Grannylorraine congrats on the HS. Hopefully your sleep pattern will improve soon. I know mine did the longer it got after handing my notice in.

@eggyg enjoy your time with your friend.

Have a lovely day everyone.

One more sleep till Santa comes
.5.3 for me
you all have a good safe day
love to all my online family

Haven't posted for a few days as I felt the need to take a break but would like to wish everyone a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. As usual, Xmas Day and Boxing Day is with my wife's family up in Bedford and we'll be heading off this evening once our youngest has finished his shift at Tesco, and once we've had dinner.

For the record, 5.6 this morning.

Have a wonderful Xmas.

Well done @Grannylorraine on your 5.2. 🙂
A round 6 for me today.
