Group 7-day waking average?

Good morning 6.3

How glad I am to be staying near my well loved garage. Car returned at 7.30 last night with new MOT, a replacement window mechanism, and towing a large trailer, on loan for the workshop move. At 8.00 the ancient 4x4 (0 MOT, rust to die for, good engine) departed as payment.

I've packed the kitchen books (food and veterinary) and ornaments, and the hall books P to R. 25 boxes. Another 50 on order from Amazon. Had a coup in CK's our local supermarket - lovely youth, well thin and pimply but with a good heart, donated a pile of plastic foldable and stackable trays to the cause - just the thing for oils/chisels/little bits of this and that in the workshop. More promised for Tuesday evening when he is back on duty. All I need now is a muscular chap or two to load up concrete mixer, ride-on, log splitter, saw bench etc. Dear God, why do I have so much stuff?

Looks as if Christmas is sorted - the family are coming here but staying in a nearby Airbnb Helen's health permitting. Minimal furniture, zero decorations but loud carols, roast rib of beef, and need to find a recipe for Apple strudel on line as all recipes packed. Son-in-law can empty the loft...

Today's task - empty the 6ft high cupboard which holds everything from the electric mincer to the to the baking trays and yoghurt maker and make a start on the "good" china and glass, keeping just enough for Christmas lunch. Mince pies and nibbles will be fine on pot.

As for my cakes, I’m more enthusiastic than talented. That Dundee cake looks lovely but is dry. The three ingredient christmas cake has almost no rise but tastes lovely. And yesterday I made low carb stollen somehow is both over and underbaked at the same time. I might be feeding the ducks a lot this weekend

Morning all and a very strange 10.1 for me. A nice flatfish until about half an hour before I woke up then whoosh. We're back on the straight and narrow now.

Just gone totally deaf in one ear. Drops needed I think.

Went to the co op this morning for paper and cat food. Asked for some second class stamps but none left. Nobody's wanting to shell out for 1st class.

Sorry to hear this! Hopefully everything will be ok. It’s certainly a worry, luckily both my parents have been ok this week and had no falls, we seem to go through spells where they each fall once or twice then nothing for several weeks.

Fingers crossed that everything is ok for you both today!
 
Good morning! 7'9.

I had a good day in Exeter. Found a cool gift in the market for my brother, and it goes really well with the other gift I've ordered online. I just need to pack it all nicely. Also enjoyed a tasty meal at Wagamama.

I was talking with my friend later about how it can be difficult to adjust insulin doses, especially when you are eating out, and how I can't get it always right, but I'm trying to improve. He said "you can do it, you are strong". I flexed my (not very strong) arms as a joke response to that, he went "no, you are strong here" and pointed to his head. It was nice to hear 🙂
 
Morning all - just dull and grey.

6.3 first thing.

Meeting friends in town this afternoon. Don't know what's for dinner tonight, but think it'll probably be salmon with a stew of Aubergine, red pepper and Beluga lentils. Something I can throw together quickly anyway. Yesterday when I met my friend for lunch I ordered a chicken, bacon and lemon mayo baguette. TBH the cafe we met in has a limited menu and hasn't changed it for years, but is conveniently close to the cinema. The baguette was delicious but I only ate half, so got a doggie bag and will finish it off this lunchtime.

Not sure I can recommend "Conclave" the setting was a bit dreary and the plotting rather dense in places. I fell asleep for about 10 minutes or so at the start (sound familiar @freesia?), so that may not have helped. The ending was a surprise but not enough to elevate the whole film (for me anyway)

@Gwynn have you seen anyone about that hip? Sounds to me that resting it isn't going to cure it and you may need some intervention, but whatever, you need a diagnosis.

@eggyg sorry to hear about MIL being in hospital again - a strain for everyone in the family. Sounds like she might benefit from a care home where she'd have company around her and be looked after. My Mum blossomed when she went into a residential home.

@Pam123 condolences on the loss of your pet.

@Grannylorraine, glad hubby dealt with your so-called friend. Hope you can relax a bit now.

That’s the aim Patti but as she isn’t able to self fund it’s waiting for a council funded place to come up. As of two weeks ago when we last spoke to Adult Social Services they said there was other steps to try first. Block carer visits for example plus as she hasn’t any medical needs, she’s bottom of the list. Hoping these “falls” might move her nearer the top. It’s very stressful and wearing for the family. She only has sons and stepsons, (5), the brutal truth is they love her but they don’t really like her. It’s complicated. :(

I can sympathise, I think J ended up with a love/dislike relationship with MIL. I ended up quite disliking her but feeling rather sorry for her. Families hey? Sorry to hear it's dependent on the council, but hopefully these falls and hospital visits might get her futrther up the list.

Mr Eggy home. They’re keeping her in until they make sure it’s safe for her to go home. Don’t really know what that entails. Bloods and ECG all fine, no bruises, cuts or pain, doc suspects she maybe just slumps onto the floor not exactly falls. Meeting with Adult social services and memory team organised for next Wednesday at her home, if she’s home. She has some savings that might get her three months in a care home, but do we chance that and give her bungalow up incase they still can’t get her a funded place? Lots to discuss, it’s a minefield.

Could it be to do with her blood pressure? Mum has issues with hers and they think thats what causes her falls.

Morning,

A straight 5 today, went to sleep well last night, but now been awake since 4.30 ish, woke with a headache shaking and ravenous, checked blood sugar levels and all good, not too high, not too low, well it was 5 than and is still 5 now. Struggled to get off to sleep, then hubby started snoring really loudly so came downstairs, I might managed to go back to sleep on the sofa.

@eggyg - sorry to hear about MIL again, I was going to suggest that she might be better in a retirement complex like my mum, but do realise it is a huge upheaval at her age as mum and dad were 84 and 85 respectively when they moved, but as you pointed out it is the funding issue, mum and dad were able to buy their flat, and it costs over £5,000 per annum in Management fees, but they have both a lift and a stairlift, complex manager (although that is not 24 hrs, for office hours, outside of that they still have to call careline, but pull cords everywhere in her flat) it is like being in a hotel when you walk in rather than a block of flats, which is why I suppose they call them apartments and I am comparing it to the block of council flats my daughter lives in. My mum doesn’t even go to everything they have on in their complex as she says she wouldn’t have enough time to knit and do her puzzle books if she did. Honestly, she will need a rest on Christmas Day after all the a Christmas activities going on, she has already has a Christmas Meal that the local cafe, 3 doors along from the complex put on for them, a carols and mince pies curtesy of a local infant school, and another 2 parties to come, one next week and one the following week. But I still get the emergency calls about something, but are more concerned with things like her shopping hasn’t arrived so she needs me to call Tesco, or she has had a suspicious text etc.
 
Morning a 7 from heaven as Len would say and a flatfish after some correction to counter the delayed Pizza effect.
After forgetting my basal I decided to leave it for the 24 hours and just resume my routine and back to normal.
Having a change of branding at end of Year so spent yesterday sorting out any old branded material which needs to be recycled so helps to reduce my “ office mess”.
Fortunately they have been quite sensible about certain items as we do get some very nice things from work so can keep using them.
Xmas market and lunch out today and bit of shopping so quiet day planned and after the new blinds being fitted in spare bedroom it is now finished so Happy wife happy life.

Err... 13.2 this morning but I completely blew it last night and I think I had my wife's full fat Pepsi and she had my diet.

I thought my tasted pretty good and she hates diet drinks and didn't think hers tasted like full fat and neither of us said anything!

Ah well - be reyt. I'll get it back under control today...
