Looks lovely and suits your table perfectly! Mine was more like the picture, but silver plated. I also had a little thingie you put on the middle one and you could arrange flowers in it. I thought I was terribly posh, but actually it was a nuisance as it stopped people being able to see guests who were sat opposite. I used to have to take it off the table when people sat down!

Mr Eggy also concerned we won’t be able to see anyone but I would probably move it to the sideboard if we had a full house. It’s just for show really. Mr Eggy was desperate to light the candles yesterday, no chance said I, I’ve just paid 20 quid for them!

Morning good folks. First up. 5.4 on a new sensor. My 6 day old one fell off last night! Already ordered another one. At just before 5 am it woke me buzzing, 2.9. I ignored it of course, never in a million years was I 2.9. Ten minutes later 6.5. Tossed and turned until 5.30 and got up.

Busy day today, double trouble childcare, arriving 8.30, hospital appointment for Mr Eggy 10.30, opticians for me 2pm. These appointments were made before daughter went back to work after her mat leave. My opticians needs booking 8/10 weeks in advance, she’s that busy. One woman independent.

The good news is I found my Christmas cards. I forgot I had a new bed, the ottoman type that lifts up, I’d stored them under the bed! The better news is I got them all written last night before Masterchef even started. The even better news is I walked down to the postbox at 9pm. All done and dusted. <smug emoji>

Nice day at Kew Gardens yesterday although it was cold.

Baked a lower carb Dundee cake last night to take to a coffee drop in thing this afternoon. First time baking one and apart from this oven taking way longer than the recipe suggested, it looks and smells delicious.

Morning a 6.3 for me after a couple of Dextrose an hour ago as alarm went off.Decent overnight line and TIR got back to 97% so happy enough.
Colin used to love going to Kew when I lived in the SW area being my favourite part of London.
Like Eggy changed my sensor last night and dogs on holiday so no early walks.
Have to drive down to my Xmas Meeting in Berkshire and back Thursday so quite a relaxed journey.Love going by car as it means I can pack more and don't need to worry about planning my trip which is bit I don’t like.
The January Meeting is in Edinburgh so have booked my Train tickets.Normally I get the hard tickets but decided to get the e version for a change.

Morning all, 6.1 here.
I remember when Kew was 10p in a turnstile to get in! @ColinUK . And there had been an outcry some years before when we went Decimal and the price went up from a couple of old pennies.(2d to 2 shillings, equivalent, that was inflation for you!) I lived in Chiswick for 6 months when I was at Law College, and the bus route was extended all the way to Kew on Sundays, and was covered on my bus pass that I had for getting to college, so I used to take my books, have a walk round, then find a patch of grass to sit on and work. The weather must have been better then, too (ah, nostalgia is always sunny).

Last day of teaching for me today - a few emails to send tomorrow and training Friday morning, but a break from up at 7 and bed at 11 for a few weeks...nice.

I feel completely back to normal this morning and was pleased to see my waking BG had dropped back to more familiar(ish) territory - 6.0 when I tested. Unfortunately my wife seems to have picked up whatever I had and she's going to WFH today rather than going in to the office.

Our eldest arrived safely in Rome yesterday and on time, despite his flight being over an hour late departing Heathrow. He linked up with his (French) boss, who had flown in from Paris and had booked a hire car, so everything went to plan. He flies back tomorrow, not into Heathrow but into Gatwick. That works quite well because we're on the GWR line between Reading & Gatwick and he'll just get on a train.

Skipped my usual swim yesterday as I didn't feel up to it so will go today instead. Other than that Wednesday's a washday and I also need to run out to the greengrocer at our local garden centre to restock the fruit bowl.

Morning All - puppies/dogs/birds & red squirrels all fed & watered. Hubby away last night down in London - he was able to hand deliver the advent calendar to my daughter that I'd sent by Royal Mail special delivery last week where they did not attempt to deliver the next day and when they did they turned up before the office opened and didn't bother trying again just returned it to sender so my Postie here delivered it back to me on Friday (he was so apologetic as if he'd been the one down in London who'd messed it up). Very disappointing for something so important and I'd spent £8.35 to get it there and to her office so it could be signed for! Anyway - I received a super-speedy cheque for that amount to compensate me ...

I had the second session of my diabetes Injectable Toolkit course yesterday. I only stayed for the morning due to dogs but it was great. We projected our Libre View results on the wall and the whole group discussed it which was very useful. I was pleased as had got up to 91% TIR for the last 7 days. It made sense of the Daily Patterns screen and a few other bits that I hadn't been sure of. Also we've decided to move me from Novorapid to Fiasp so I don't have to keep putting my supper in the warming drawer because I realise I haven't taken my insulin. On the way home I dropped into @eggyg for the official "Grasmere Gingerbread handover" - think County Lines but tastier.

Today I MUST get out into the garden as there are jobs to do that are time sensitive and I keep putting them off - it's hard with the puppies around but maybe I can time it with a sleep. Choir this afternoon where we will debrief on the fun performance we did on Saturday. Our next one is singing at the Glenridding Carol Service on Sunday 22nd - they don't have their own choir so have asked us to come along which will be lovely.

Dry but grey outside, a few small blue patches.

More packing today. I am taking it gently as carting logs in for the wood-burner has annoyed my back. So I am sticking to small boxes: books and ornaments. Signed the contract yesterday - 37 days to completion, provided exchange takes place. I'm always fearful of the last minute slip up. Need to book van hire, septic tank emptying and a cleaner. Think @ColinUK has a rather better social diary...

Daughter very down yesterday evening, just had chemo, feeling very sick and lonely. Spent an hour cheering her up with tales from the wild west of Wales. Fortunately my most boring neighbour, a pompous ass, has been out photographing the tree which has blocked the road and planted its upper branches on his garage. Apparently he intends to sue his neighbour who owns the tree. Well good luck with that! Another, who was upwind of the trees, is having a nervous breakdown because a tree might have fallen on them - only a) wind direction b) trees not tall enough etc. My response, perhaps less than sympathetic, of "For God's sake, we aren't in Gaza or Hurricane Valley, now, do you need some logs?" met with a stiffening of the mental sinews from her and a glare but earned a chortle from the daughter. "You lit the fire and some candles" she enquired "What else?" "Oh, I read a book or two". "Typical - I'll go and take my anti-nausea stuff before you give me a verbal kick up the bum. Oh and Rowan wants money - he is saving up for something..." So that was a relief - shopping for 8 year olds isn't my forte.

Morning

4.7 plans today are making my Christmas pudding, very late I know but sure it will still taste great, wrapping up some Christmas presents, more crotcheting of my Nutcracker to get back on track with the crotchet along, not that it is a competition, just a bit of fun. Still not sleeping very well with the whirring mind, then when I do go to sleep I have vivid uncomfortable dreams, not nightmares but bad dreams, the end up sleeping in late. Oh well I am sure it will get better.

Morning all. 3.5 this morning and had been for a while! Obviously the earlier JBs didn't work.

Busy day today. I've already been to do the weekly shop, off to the hairdressers in a minute for a cut and colour. Then my friend is coming for a cuppa followed by a very quick tea and off to the local theatre to see a small theatre group do a christmassy show.

I bought this while we were away last week. Happy Christmas birds.

5.6 this morning, not bad as we’ve been eating out and then having different things whilst staying at my wife’s aunt’s house.

Went to Donegal town yesterday for a run out stopping at Biddy o’Barnes roadhouse on the way back. Lovely roaring log fire and great food along with a warm Irish welcome. Just had enough signal on one of the phones to put some euros on the Revolut card to pay for it!

Got a wake today and funeral tomorrow (one of my wife’s cousins died the day we arrived), so this has changed our plans a bit.

Morning all a 5.9 today I'm really trying to keep it down bot the cold is currently winning after a night with 45% above 6 mostly a 8.6 and then a random drop to 2 i guess that the pomp was over working or so so lets see what the day is going to bring till now it as pretty good with a BS at 9 of 5.2 and the at 10 with a 5.5 and just now a 5.4 soo lets see
