What a blooming awful day weather-wise it has been. Bitingly cold winds and drenching rain. The sea has been very angry and the waves have been breaking over the promenade in Penzance with a real fury.

Was 8.7 this morning first thing, very disappointing. Dinner last night was late and was also lasagna, but I had thought I'd accurately carb counted - well, BG went into the 8s and just stayed there all night,

I had a number of things to do this morning and then went into town to meet my friend for lunch. We ate in the Exchange Gallery cafe. It was full of "arty types" with dogs and crawling children who were none too clean. I think it's run by volunteers which would explain the somewhat amateur and iffy service... but it's cheap. We had Broccoli and blue cheese quiche with salad and some peculiar hommous for £7.50. Plus £3 for a lemon and ginger tea. We then went on to the cinema to see the latest Bridget Jones film. A bit of very silly nonsense with, naturally, a happy ending. The whole audience consisted of ladies past retirement!!! Still it was better than traipsing round town looking in shops in the vile weather! Hubby picked us up in town and dropped my friend off, then we did a grocery shop. Can't wait for better weather and a more interesting existence!

Congratulations to @Pam123 @freesia and @khskel on your HSs. I didn't know what to give @khskel - a star or a laugh at the "Rock 'n' roll" comment! No offence!

Have a good evening all

It was 2.9 for me this morning according to Libre which was probably exaggerating a bit but definitely hypo. Got my insulin all wrong last night partly due to straying off-piste diet wise as a birthday treat (venison, redcurrant and port pie with veg followed by a shared single portion of banoffee pie with ice cream), but also a change of routine as I had to bring my horses down to the stables from the field up the hill. The people who rent the field above could not keep their ponies in and 3 times they removed them from my field and supposedly fixed the fencing and they were back through, so I now have my 4 in full time, to feed and muck out and groom and they are caked head to hoof in concrete like mud. I made a start on two of them this morning and I got home for breakfast at 10.30am looking like I had been working down the pit because all the dusty dirt from them stuck to the sweat on my face from the very exertive grooming needed to loosen some of that concrete from their fur and my nostrils were full of it. As a result of that mega grooming session, I have been in the red just about all day and jelly baby after jelly baby has not brought me up or rather I have just dropped again even though I have been sat down most of the day travelling over to visit my brother in hospital. I still have GGs to feed and muck out again tonight, but home now to get changed and restock my JB supply before I head back out. Dread to think what time I will get to eat myself tonight, but don't think I can be bothered to cook my rib-eye steak as I had intended. Will probably have half an apple and some cheese and crash.
Will be happy when I adjust to the new routine and get off the glucose rollercoaster. Hit 2.9 more than once last night and the heady heights of 17.3mmols and then got the correction wrong and crashed again. Hopefully tonight will be better.

Oh Barbara forgot it was your birthday yesterday. Soz. Happy belated birthday, and is it your diaversary today or is that tomorrow? Lots of “celebrations” going on for you this week. They’re like buses, none for ages and then they all come at once! 😉

Thanks for birthday wishes Elaine and yes, diaversary today. 6 years!! I actually had my venison pie last night at the same pub that my diabetes kicked off in and indeed it was a pie on that occasion too. I will never forget starting to feel thirsty as I was about to leave the pub and thinking it must have been a salty pie (it didn't taste salty but just trying to explain the sudden extreme thirst) and I would get a glass of water when I got home, not knowing that it would be the first glass of gallons that I drank over the next two weeks trying to quench that thirst before I contacted the GP and got my HbA1c tested. Seems like a lifetime ago now, but just 6 years. The pie was absolutely delicious.... on both occasions and not salty at all. They specialise in a large selection of home made pies and they are proper pies with a base and lid and homemade rough puff pastry I think. I splashed the insulin and ate it all, although I did ask for them not to serve it with chips or mash, just the veg this time. No plans for Valentines day tomorrow as I have been treated to my "annual" meal out by Ian. Of course I might surprise him and take him out. Our first Valentines day meal was a trip to Harry Ramsden's..... It was rather quiet as I think there was only one other person in the place that night! He is the last of the big spenders!! HaHa!
