Group 7-day waking average?

Sorry @Wendal (Happy Birthday!) the DF sent me this today, which may have been for you? Still, I’m not complaining with a lovely 5.2 HS!

Congratulations @goodybags on your HS too!

Not much planned today as my wife has an appointment with a chiropodist, but it’s a nice excuse to go with her and spend some time in a coffee house nearby. Still looking good for the weather for tomorrow when we plan to be off to the seaside - thinking about Barry Island in honour of the Christmas Gavin & Stacey

Have a good day everyone!
Thanks Eternal and sure the Diabetes Fairy just lent you my HS for the day but well done.
Work sent me an M&S Hamper which was nice and my wife is taking me out for a meal tonight so I need the Fairy’s help in getting me into single figures for tomorrow lol

Hi everyone! 6'9 and a 70% TIR this morning, it's going in the right direction 🙂

As others, we have a lovely sun out but is cold, maximum temperature for today is expected to be 6°C. I'd still enjoy a walk but I woke up with an ugly cough and sore throat and don't want to stay outside too long. I'm just sitting on a bench while I type this, on my way home, so I catch the sunshine for a few minutes!

Yesterday evening was a tough one, many customers were miserable and the staff too. I heard the most polite and positive people cursing more than usual. I was really moody myself, I guess it was the general ambience plus the tiredness from the day before. I'm just glad the day is over.

I planned to go to my usual cafe for a hot drink and a read, but since I'm feeling a bit unwell I'll do the same at home. I will be more comfy there and don't want to spread any bugs...

I see a lot of you are taking down the Christmas decorations. I don't do that until the 7th of January at least, although I took down a couple of bits. In all fairness I don't have a tree and the process will take me 10 minutes tops, so I'm not worried about when to do it.

Have a lovely rest of the day!

In the UK there's a superstition that it's unlucky to have the decorations up after 12th night, which is 5th of Jan.

Ooh, that's interesting! In Spain the tradition was to get presents on the 6th of January (by the Three Wise Kings, instead of Santa). So of course the tree had to be up until then!

3.9 this morning was 3.4 when I went to bed so had a glass of orange juice and a bisquit woke up in the night feeling dizzy blurry eyes etc so had mire orange juice and low on waking so think it's time to put my sensor back on congrats to hs people

I am old enough to remember when trees started being a thing, at least in the sleepy rural area where I grew up. When I were a wee lad, the decorations centered around a nativity scene, and I have the vague recollection about the scene being set un only a couple of days before Christmas Eve, sans baby, which was added on Christmas Eve. The scene would then be packed up on the 6th.

ETA, this was in rural Galicia in the late 70s, early 80s.

You can always go with the older tradition that decorations remain up until Candlemas (Feb 2nd).

"Whatever date you choose, it is worth noting that the 'rules' have changed over history. February 2, in fact, actually used to be the date when Christians took their decorations down, as noted in this poem by Robert Herrick (1591-1674):"

"Down with the rosemary, and so

"Down with the bays and mistletoe;

"Down with the holly, ivy, all,

"Wherewith ye dress'd the Christmas Hall"

- Ceremony upon Candlemas Eve

6.1 this morning after flat-line all night, once again. TIR 84% and rising.

Congratulations go to @goodybags and @Eternal422
and a happy birthday @Wendal

I would say, time to reduce medication rather than put a sensor on!

I've noticed that, in the US, quite a few people keep a 'Christmas' holly wreath on their front door all year long.

yes I was thinking I should reduce my insulin, I only have Basel in the morning so am a bit surprised to find my BS seams to be so low in the evening, considering the extra carbs ive had over the last week or so.
I don't need much insulin and so almost always nowadays I don't take any basal at all and just use Novarapid before meals, so that I can keep tight control over my blood sugar.

It sounds like whoever prescribed it needs to know what's going on fairly urgently.
the DN is useless I don't go anymore, Just see the GP when needed, he prescribed me Libre and told me to gradually increase my insulin over the first few months then it seamed stable, I will start to lower the dose and see what happens, my last blood test were fine and HB was 39 the only comment was it was a bit low because of my age.

Oh, I remember the tree being at home since I was little, but the nativity was always a must too. At some point we had the Playmobil version as well as a traditional one, I loved it :starstruck:

Good morning all. 6.2ish. I can’t quite remember as I’ve been up and down since 4.30 and kept forgetting to look!

Yesterday’s walk nearly didn’t happen as I fell, quite literally, at the first hurdle. Parked up in Silloth on Solway to catch the bus to Allonby to walk back. We were early so I decided I’d use the public loos incase the ones in Allonby were closed ( they were, until Easter). As I came out of the toilet block I was blinded by the sun and slipped on the only patch of ice on the entire path! Landed right on my posterior, left buttock to be precise.I don’t have much padding on my bum, so I did clatter down. It did hurt but I jumped up and pronounced I was fine. I wasn’t, but didn’t want to let on as I was looking forward to the walk. Caught the bus as planned and pain was subsiding as I’d only taken some painkillers for a headache just a few minutes before I fell. I was fine on the walk, a couple of twinges but managed it no problem. 7.5 miles. Arrived back to car at 4ish. We sat and watched the sunset and it’s aftermath, then got fish and chips at 5, ate them in the car and drove home. 40 minutes, home at 6. Got home and I couldn’t get out of the car! I’d seized up! Of course I needed the loo and getting up the stairs wasn’t much fun. Sitting on the loo wasn’t much fun either, I was in agony. I just couldn’t sit on my left buttock. All in all I can walk ok, come down the stairs ok but sitting down and going up the stairs or bending down is difficult. As for getting in and out of bed, OMG! Hence the early hour, up for loo and couldn’t face getting back into bed. I hope it’s just bruised and I haven’t cracked anything. Got childcare today and six for lunch, that’ll soon let me know the damage. What a numpty! Or as Mr Eggy puts it, a liability. If there’s a hole or a bog or a patch of ice I’ll find it and fall into/onto it! It’s my super power. 😱

Have a fab Friday folks. Now where’s that codeine?

Some photos of a beautiful but very, very chilly walk along the King Charles 111 England Coastal Path, well, a tiny tiny bit of it!
