Yes it's interesting too.You probably realise by now that there are many things that are called by a different name in different countries so when people suggest things they may not be quite the same as what you know them as in Canada.
We get the same in different regions of the UK where foods are not what you might think.
I don’t think there’s much point bothering with post meal tests on a mixed insulin. If you had control over diet then you could use the post meal tests to refine how many carbs you eat per meal but it sounds like you don’t and diet is whatever’s affordable, so post meal tests won’t really drive decisions around diet. The thing missing in all this is that it only requires a test before breakfast and supper so where do the post meal tests come in?
Still 1 to 2 hours later I guess?
Apart from the soup none of those foods have many if any carbs. The cottage cheese we get here is about 3g carbs per 100g.Still waiting for it to come. So just mentally planning meals. I wanted cottage cheese tonight but I'm not sure if it has enuf carbs in it yet. I believe the cartons I buy are 20 grams for the whole 2 cup size carton. Which fits in my 2 cup goal. I guess I can always measure and see what happens.

I'm lucky that on my insurance that if a person uses insulin they are covered for 2000 strips a year. So that's like 7 or 8 tests a day? I never use that many!!
I have cottage cheese, cheese slices, shredded cheese, ricotta cheese, (do I like cheese) and soups and pb and 2 cans of canned meat and 2 cans of tuna, and a few ensures. I found all those on sale at various times.
Until end of month. So just trying to spread that out. It's not much carbs as I was preparing for a carnivore diet.
I want to post some results but not on this thread. Where would I post some results about the new insulin use?
It could be this. I've had the runs for many years and cut out the dairy only to discover that it's on some foods ingredients list. Which did 'get' me.Apart from the soup none of those foods have many if any carbs. The cottage cheese we get here is about 3g carbs per 100g.
Just a thought but do you have any idea of what is causing the diarrhoea as if you are eating a lot of cheese and dairy products you could be lactose intolerant.
They don't have to - I used to work for Allied Lyons and my store room was where I kept all the things I was asked to test - I had quinoa back in the 1970s, and psyllium, also just about every edible starch - and some inedible ones too as I recall, so I do tend to think out of the box when it comes to carbs - my sister found it useful when her daughter required gluten free foods.Do biscuits and flapjack not count as grains though? That’s the issue - finding an appropriate meal without those but containing sufficient carbs.
