Yes I will require a few carbs as it's mixed with a mealtime insulin. Idk which one for sure but I think it's called regular.
You are going to be careful you have enough carbs and food for the insulin you are going to be injecting.I'm likely going to have to halve my dinner meal and have it as the 1st injection meal.
I didn't know it could be done this way last time when I was on 40 60 the instructions just gave a dose on the label and when to take it and what number goal to reach. Such as x take number of units before breakfast and supper increase by x number until x number is reached before meals. I just had to measure before the 2 meals to see if I reached the goal and whatever amount of carbs I had eaten I would keep with when I reached the goal. Which was 6. I haven't got the insulin yet so I'm not sure if it will be like that or not this time. Can you get guidance about how many carbs you need per meal @Tuesday ? It might take a little while to get your doses right on the new insulin so don’t be disheartened.
The request was for a small meal - low sugar, no grain, no fruit - I had assumed that if carbs were required then a few biscuits or a flapjack, maybe a bit of cake could do the job as they are easy to count or chop into fractions, but didn't want to appear to give advice on insulin and carbs, just to answer the question. Not sure that suitable for Novolin mixed insulin due to the lack of carbs.

Is a flapjack a pancake or a fried breadDo biscuits and flapjack not count as grains though? That’s the issue - finding an appropriate meal without those but containing sufficient carbs.

ThanksYes, I believe it’s a regular human insulin. This will mean you’ll have to inject it a little more in advance of your meal, but it should last longer than the analogue bolus insulins and, frankly, I like regular insulin. Hopefully you’ll find it suits you 🙂

For word differences though, eg the flapjack example, you’ll get a quicker answer by just googling it yourself than by asking on the forum. If you put flapjack uk into google you’ll get pictures and explanations for example. You probably realise by now that there are many things that are called by a different name in different countries so when people suggest things they may not be quite the same as what you know them as in Canada.
We get the same in different regions of the UK where foods are not what you might think.
