Group 7-day waking average?

5 .6

Yes I thought the initial idea was you ate a big (tasty but cheap) thing first to fill you up, so that you’d not feel the need to eat so much of the main (expensive/meat) part of the meal?
In one of the James Herriot novels he describes this, as well as his surprise at one family's alternative starter of a vat of rice pudding!

Edit: D'oh, forgot reading yet again - 10.1
Seems to confirm that a sensible portion of ice cream does not screw up my BG.

5.5 on another bright and sunny Berkshire morning and the forecast says we're in for a week of dry, sunny and hot weather with temperatures hitting the mid-80s. It's already mid-70s after a sticky night. Shorts and a T-shirt today, I think.

My wife and her sister have arrived safely at their cousin's place just outside Harrisburg, PA. They'd booked Business Class rail tickets (Business Class on a train?) as it's a 7-hour journey from Boston, via Philadelphia. Comfy seats and loads of leg room she said. I expect we'll link up via WhatsApp later. Our eldest and his girlfriend are flying back from Rhodes today but they have a late flight so he's staying at her place in London tonight and getting an early train in the morning as he's back at work tomorrow.

Brilliant final in the World Cup of Darts last night, with Northern Ireland winning 10-9, but gutted that Wales lost out. More pre-Wimbledon tennis to watch this week. The grass court season is my favourite part of the tennis calendar.

Breakfast this morning will include fresh raspberries from the garden, and it looks like we'll get a bumper crop of blackberries this year too. We've never been able to manage to grow strawberries, though.

Congrats on todays HS @Lisa65

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.
Blueberries are pretty easy though they prefer acid soil but you can either grow in pots or put plenty of an ericaceous compost in your planting hole, then feed with ericaceous fertiliser. There are varieties which will ripen at different times to spread the crop but they freeze well. I have about 12 plants in a long bed at the allotment and they produce enough to keep me going for breakfast nearly all year. Ours no where near ripe yet but strawberries are good and Tayberries just starting to show colour but redcurrants are ripening well. No raspberries yet and rhubarb still good. Our first picking of peas yesterday.

02:42 BS 8.4 & couldn’t get back to sleep after loo trip so, vertical at 04:57 BS 10.1. Quick ding of a ready meal 05:05 BS 11.3 of beef stew with dumplings & the last of the cold latte: now available in the more economic 750ml cartons, enough for 3 cups, over the less budget friendly 250ml cups before!

A Very Good Morning to you all & have a Wonderful Day! 😉

Arh! So many basal changes recently & yesterday was another one! After basal went in at 12:00 on the 3rd day of reduction from 50 to 48 it became apparent a few hours after I ate lunch at 1pm that basal was too little: after the usual peak around 90 minutes after mark BS continues to drop; it did a u-turn from the 2 hours after mark & rose higher & higher. I dithered & gave it considerable thought, thinking I’ll put basal back up for an average of 49 by alternating 50 & 48 on consecutive days, but, as my BS rose to higher than my meal peak at the 1 hour scan almost at the 4 hours after mark I decided to act & I put in +4, I only wanted to put in 2 but, there is no 2 units mark on the pen: there is an air-shot mark but, noticed sometime ago that it’s not 2 units like I first assumed & that’s why when reaching the end of the pen it reads for eg. 32 left, do the air-shot & there is still 32 left in the pen; took me a while as it kept happening to twig that the air-shot mark is NOT 2 units & is literally just enough to show the needle is clear! So, I put in the minimum measured dose of 4 units. It took another few hours before I saw the effects starting to come through & BS stopped rising so, I ate a late dinner. AGAIN I dithered about the dose: balancing the higher BS 14.9, it was in the 17’s higher than my 15’s peak when I acted, & not wanted to put in too much overnight while I slept; I went with a conservative 48NR & it seems I wasn’t too far off the mark? o_O:confused: & A Lot Of Head Scratching emoji!

Yesterday was my left thigh & that’s the side that I keep putting the higher basal dose in, to keep it straight in my head, & I did think, earlier in the day, to use that left thigh again today for 50 but, I’ve added in an extra 4 to that same side later yesterday for a total of 52 units.

I’ve been thinking over breakfast what & where to inject at midday today? :confused:o_O I haven’t made up my mind yet & see what BS is like? Shall I go 50 on the left again & tomorrow 48 on the right or 48 on the right & tomorrow 50 on the left? I’m telling you, I’m doing some serious head scratching! o_O:confused::rofl:

6.5

Gym was good. Therapy was good. Summer Exhibition fun (we’ll go back and see more as we only touched the surface). And Frogs was excellent.

Morning and a 5.9 and a gentle de line overnight but within range.
Nice trip to Shrewsbury yesterday and off to Oxford today so will have a hopefully nice drive down and punting on the Thames tonight.
Dropped off dogs yesterday so they were happy and a good nights sleep and wife only has her favourite to lol after and he is pleased as has full attention and run of the house.
Have a lovely day

Morning all, 5.3 after a restless night. I got up at 5.30 and took the dog out, lovely and cool at that time. It'll be too warm for her later.
DSN is supposed to be calling me today, hopefully I will get the Trurapi at long last!
Have a good day everyone 🙂

Morning all. 5.6.

Damp morning after yesterday’s lovely day. Not that I saw much of it after ironing all afternoon.

Not much on today. I’m making a steak pie for tomorrow’s tea as I’m out tomorrow. I might do my own ironing. Oh and I’ll be washing dishes! :( Dishwasher ordered, none in stock unfortunately so arriving Friday or next Tuesday!

Have a smashing day.

Morning all. 4.4 this morning with a unicorn day yesterday. Levels stayed level overnight, rising to no more than 7. That makes a change. Its hard to believe that some days are like yesterday and some i'm having spikes or can't get levels down. The unpredictability of diabetes!

Another hot day today so this morning i'm mowing the lawn while its cooler. Other than that nothing is planned. Its a very quiet week this week.

Have a good day everyone and stay cool.

Good morning 6.9 today

Lovely sunny day yesterday, and it looks like more of the same today so definitely shorts weather again (& sunscreen) apart from football shorts I only have one pair that actually fit properly, the ones in the bottom of my wardrobe are several sizes to big.

Today for breakfast strawberries & blueberries from our back garden (apple & blueberries from supermarket) although we have both slowly growing just not ready yet.
The garden is coming on well, my wife is the green fingered one here, but I do enjoy being out here on mornings like today, plus when I get back home in the evenings, I do even occasionally like to sit in the garden after dark de stressing before bed.

Have a Terrific Tuesday

Edit
Oops… just looked what I posted earlier
I meant Strawberries and Raspberries were freshly picked from our garden
Blueberries and apple was from Lidl, although we are growing Blueberries and all sorts of currants

Very pleased with this new sensor - a 5.2 today!

IMG_1016.png

That makes up for the previous sensor playing up yesterday and insisting I was 17 to 20 all day. Foolishly I took insulin to correct and ended up hypo - causing me to test with a finger prick and discovered the truth!

Not much planned today other than laundry, possibly a spot of gardening then visiting my parents later on this afternoon.

Have a good day everyone!

5.1 - oh so close. It's a lovely, sunny morning here and the forecast is for all-to-wall blue sky all day.

Our eldest is home after his and his girlfriend's week in Rhodes. Picked him up from the station just before 9. First thing he did when he got home was head straight to his home office and log on to his work laptop.

Tuesday, so usual swim later, but before that I need a run out to the garden centre to restock on fruit and veg and stop-off at Morrisons to pick up whatever we need for tea.

Congrats @Eternal422 on your HS this morning. I almost joined you.

Enjoy your day.
