Group 7-day waking average?

Very nice day yesterday spent bit of time in garden but my BG level drops so quickly after just a small amount of “ graft” that I have to have something to eat if I want to continue.Whilst nice in some ways I just wish I could stay out longer as I much prefer working fast than slow.
@Wendal, rapid BG falls in the garden are my "norm", worse when it's sunny. I take easy to unwrap and eat "treats" with me, even with muddy hands. Between c 12-18 gms CHO, fairly high GI. My current favourite is chocolate covered plum flavoured marzipan jelly (16 CHO); but the treats vary with the holiday seasons.

Another good rapid response source are "get buzzing Nut Free banana or date" bars. Typically 60% carbs each bar c. 36 CHO per bar and I carry one broken in half within it's packaging with an end slightly torn open; then I can eat a half (or a bit less) as needed, with minimum disruption. Or Graze packs (13-14 CHO) or Naked (18 CHO) bars, each with a part opened end. From this quite high response I can continue mowing, digging etc or take a reduced response by biting a chunk off, if it's more sedentary kneeling while weeding.

Nowadays I don't bother to check the CGM alert with an fp, knowing the alert will be about right and the continued gardening will negate any slight excess of glucose. I used to pour a mini-pack of Haribos in (c. 12 CHO), but I've come to realise they work well but too quickly and the slightly slower high GI snacks provide better endurance.

Phew! Caught up on all the posts I’d missed. Just sitting in the sunshine on the patio watching over baby Eden. She’s fast asleep in her buggy. We’ve been bowling, I was terrible but didn’t come last. Everyone from our lodge has gone swimming. I volunteered to babysit. So had a walk with her and come back home. It’s a gorgeous day, still need a fleece on but the sun is just creeping up to the back door. Going to read my book and listen to the birds.
Congratulations to the HSers yesterday and today. Special congratulations to @rebrascora Hot Cross Buns hit me like a ton of bricks. I had one for breakfast yesterday and injected 9 units of basal almost an hour before inhaling it. Still went to over 13. Maybe I should have had a G &T too!

Hi lovelies! A disappointing but deserved 10'4 this morning.

Yesterday I had a looooong day at work following a short night of sleep and I spent a good chunk of it feeling exhausted and miserable. Just got a bit happier when the wedding we were working at entered the music and dancing stage, it helped that my finish time was coming closer by then! My Libre reader also decided before lunch it was the ideal time to go numb. It would not switch on at all, I pressed the button and the screen stayed black. When I got home around 11pm I plugged it in, it seems to work then but as soon as I remove the charger is back to black screen. And it said my sensor had ended, when it was applied just 3 days ago and it looks very firmly attached. I assume there's no point in calling Abbot until Easter is over, tho. So back to old fashioned finger pricks. And therefore, being conservative with my bolus doses.

Today I was supposed to have a similar shift but my boss surprised me with the evening off. Great news as my flatmate had invited me to a roast dinner she is making for her friends at home and I was gutted to say no. Now I can join them 🙂

Enjoy all your roasts and chocolates. I have a Thorntons bunny from the hotel, with my name on it which is a nice touch. I just had a little piece from the ears, tried to put them back again. The result made my laugh, looks like the chocolate bunny had a lobotomy :rofl: Okay, I'm going to have a nap before my flatmate's friend arrive so I behave normal-ish for a first impression!

Ive been quite busy today and only just realised I hadn’t posted this morning

Yesterday mornings exercise session was really good, quite different to usual as I was actually the only one who attended (usually there’s two or three of us there)
but yesterday was just me, so like a personal coaching from the well-being & sports participation coach who runs the program,
we just talked about quite a few different things as we did the usual balance / passing & ball control, I’m still slightly surprised how few people ever attend, although initially when I first saw this program advertised the words Mental Health I myself hesitated, obviously those words carry a label that can put some off, especially when it’s Football related.

It looks like you’re having a superb birthday weekend with the family @eggyg hope the hoard’s aren’t wearing you out
@Martin.A, that description of your gammon made me salivate, thinking of aroma from a gammon joint and the smell of it cooking for a special occasion is a great memory of my late father who used to cook them but only on special occasions, also thinking back 40/50 years ago
the mention of Sherfiield-on-Loddon also brings back memories of the area around there like Wellington Country park, as am originally from Newbury

My experience of gardening is bitter sweet.Nice in the sense that I know that any high BG levels I can reduce to 4-5 literally with 5-10 minutes of reasonably intense activity like. This means that I can enjoy my wife’s scones and other things or can miss out on my lunchtime insulin and still stay within range.
But frustrating in that I can’t spend say 20-30 minutes digging or using a saw or axe without dropping really low some need to have a break.
Apart from the gardening I don’t do intense stuff and although I do walk briskly at times my BG management is much more controlled.
When I get absorbed in a job I like to complete it and have to stop when my low alarm goes off and also if I have a lot of carbs to provide me with lots of “ fuel” then sometimes I want to delay my activity due to rain etc so yes a minor issue in grand scheme of things but I love a good work out.
Just need to work out a proper regime in terms of prep
 
Happy Easter to those who celebrate it, a 5.8 this morning for me.

We had a lovely shift at Hatton Locks in sunshine, chatting with lots of boaters and walkers which made for a very pleasant time. We helped a lovely couple in their 80s down the flight who appear on the new season of Narrow Escapes. We had helped them up the flight last week on their way into Birmingham for a launch party for the programme so it was good to see them again.

Good news with regards to a care home for my parents. After two falls this weekend (Dad one day then Mum yesterday) they have decided they really need to go into a home. Dad has told the neighbours so hopefully he won’t change his mind now. I think he realises how dangerous it is and this last fall shook him up and also upset Mum. After Easter we’ll start things moving and aim to get them in before our trip to Ireland a week Wednesday.

Congratulations @Gwynn on yet another HS! How do you do it?

No numbers for me today. No CGM at the moment and I forgot to pack my testing kit! But, not too worried, my lovely in laws (including my brother and sister in law) are very understanding of me eating differently for my diabetes.

It was pizza for tea last night but they'd cooked salmon for me instead. And, first Easter since diagnosis, I've found it surprisingly easy to do without the chocolate and the hot cross buns - it would be different, I think, if I was at home with free access to my own fridge (and the giant chocolate hamper husband won in his work raffle)!

Church this morning and a lovely chicken dinner for 13 this afternoon. Brother-in-law is playing in a jazz club tonight so we're going to go and see him perform tonight.
 
Evening folks.Just managed a sit down and checked the posts Congratulations to @ Gwynn on your Hs today.Was an 11 2 for me this morning.Going great guns till 4 am then alarm went off .Took correction dose, Only for it to go off another twice in three hours. . Hope everyone has enjoyed their day .
