Group 7-day waking average?

6.1 this morning for me, really must curtail my evening snacks :rofl:

Had a day yesterday - started with a call from Dad before we had got up, he had fallen in the bathroom. So, hastily showered and dressed then drove over to sort him out. Luckily no harm done, although I expect some bruising. Helped him get dressed then went straight on to Hatton Locks for our volunteering shift there. But it was cold, dull and absolutely no boats moving anywhere. After a coffee at the Top Lock cafe we decided to call it a day and left my midday.

Dad once again, as predicted, said that he thinks they should go into a home but don’t want to. I’m not even entertaining it this time but I do think he could do with some extra care now to help him get up in the mornings and maybe even getting into bed. The majority of the falls are around those activities where he loses his balance.

Day at home today, avoiding the crowds. We stopped off at a farm shop yesterday and it was packed, full car park and crowds of people everywhere.

Morning all. A very slightly better 9.9 (wrll, better than previous days). Yesterday i changed both bolus pen and basal cartridge and after a sudden drop with the first correction, stayed well in range all day. Looking at the graph i've strayed high overnight but dropped slowly to the 9.9. Tonight i'll increase the basal but it will take a few days to work.

Today we are getting the train into a city, having a wander around, something to eat then to the theatre to see Kinky Boots starring Johannes from Strictly. Really looking forward to that.

Yes, it is. I have never got it to work. It's a great disappointment when you look forward to it with much anticipation.

Yesterday I did the "onboarding" for the Ypsopump and I was stunned by the amount of thought that has clearly gone into CamAPS as opposed to the Omnipod 5 algorhythm.

Morning all - I'd say the weather is changeable. Some blue sky, some black cloud.

6.3 this morning. Could be worse. Had mashed potato for dinner and also had half a hot cross bun. I'll have the other half today.

Nothing exciting happening today. I'm going to do all the prep for tomorrow's 4 course lunch when we have friends coming. It's smoked salmon and prawns then the traditional Easter leg of lamb and roasties, followed by Hot Cross Bun B&B pud and a cheeseboard. Looking forward to seeing them as they spend a lot of time out of the country.

6.4 today.

Heading to York to see my in-laws for Easter. I'm looking forward to it. Unlike me, Mr B wasn’t working yesterday so he and eldest went yesterday. Me, middle and youngest are going today but none of us are morning people so I wouldn't exactly say we're being efficient about packing and leaving!

6.2 this morning no idea why, also for no reason after being in the 5s over night it shot up to 10.3 for no reason then shot down again were just off out again to look at another garden centre then back to more gardening weather permitting.

Was very tired, groggy, grumpy & snuffly yesterday with my asthma playing up a bit & coughing slightly! Thank goodness today I wake up feeling better & hopefully I’ve dodged the cold that I thought I was coming down with? :confused:🙂

Will take my pills, tresiba & 1st lot of ear drops now after posting; not long to midday now! I have finally got the knack of squeezing the teardrop shaped capsules: tear off the tab, turn it upside down for the liquid to gather in the little nozzle, stick it in my ear entrance & a gentle squeeze, it LOOKS like I emptied it but, turn it upside again & gather in the nozzle & there’s enough left to squeeze it in the other ear! I was holding it too flat that first day! 🙄o_O
 
6.2 and no sign on this virus abating. Another day where Morecambe has it's shirt on, fairly light winds though.

We have been planning to see the MiL today, but J. had a bad night and is under the weather today, so we three getting together is looking doubtful from here, even though we bought some food for us this afternoon.

My MH is sitting on very dodgy ground these past few days, I seemed to be very frightened most of the time when I have a break from being busy. Very disconcerting.

No reading this morning. Dashed out the door at 7.30am with a slice of toast and almond butter and went to nearby car boot sale. It was very busy although there was a brisk chill wind. Got our veg from the usual stall and picked up a few plants and useful bits and pieces.
Home now, took this morning's tablets as I also forgot them earlier. Must get into a better routine if we are going out early.
Ham and eggs for lunch then off to the club apiary this afternoon.

Had an Indian meal yesterday evening: horrific effect on my glucose levels. I realise that too much rice does me no good, but this meal seemed extra carbacious (is that a word? Ed) - or were they also using sugar in the sauce? Mind you, I did eat a Naan bread. Slapped wrist. Lots of extra insulin during the night brought me down to a more respectable 5.5 this morning.

One of the problems with "Indian" meals is that most of the currys you get served use something they call gravy as a base. Gravy is a boiled down stock of potatoes and onions with spices. Each restaurant/take away will have its own recipe. The upshot is that anything with a curry sauce is very likely to be carb heavy because of the use of the "gravy" as the base. Working out carb contents will be pure guesswork guided by experience.

I found the trick with Indian food is to go to the better places where you hopefully will find spicy dishes which are not based on the gravy. Something marinaded and cooked in a tandoor, perhaps with a vegetable bhaji, a couple of poppadoms and some minty yoghourt might give you the pleasure with less stress in trying to guess how much insulin would be needed to deal with it.

@NickE, you will know this better than me, I am a relative newcomer to Diabetes. But often part of the gravy base is started with ghee, usually lots of it and then of course the digestion of the carbs is slowed down. I invariably expect to need a split dose with an Indian meal and make pretty crude guesses about the carb count, but lean on my G7 to alert me later on.
 
I honestly cannot remember when we last had a takeaway, though we do occasionally go to an Indian restaurant. Normally if we fancy a curry I make it myself from scratch. Once you have a stock of essential spices it's amazingly easy. I started with a book by Camellia Panjabi "50 great curries of India" which starts by explaining all the spices. I now have a few books by Madhur Jaffrey who gives clear instructions. I buy the Naan in the supermarket, skip the rice and make 1 curry dish (chicken, lamb or beef) and a dhaal or Sag Aloo and serve with several chutneys (Mango, sour Lime etc). That way you know what's in it and it's easier to avoid things that spike you.
