Group 7-day waking average?

Lovely to hear from you @PattiEvans and glad you are back home. Sorry to hear Julian is not well and you are chasing up prescriptions. Take care and try to get some rest. Sending hugs to you both xx

I’m in a frugal group on FB and I’m certain I saw something about a free National Trust day pass. I’ll try and find it for you. My grand children love baking with me when the weather is rotten. Even if it’s just something simple like chocolate crispie cake, they don’t like cleaning up though. In my (vast) experience, three children and seven grandchildren, they’re usually just happy not to be at school! When my girls were little we loved a lazy morning in our PJs. I think too much is made of constant entertainment in the long summer school holidays. As you say it’ll just be nice to be together.

Completely agree! I think all these summer schools, football camps, etc. are mainly a money spinners for those organising them. It also puts pressure on parents already financially stretched. One person says they are fed up with their son'6, primary school and they keep having,"celebration days" where they seem.to expect children to dress up - e.g. Roland Dahl, Guy Fawkes, etc. They don't have to buy when most of their friends, do...

I’m going to show that to a prospective customer I’m currently trying to strike a deal with as he operates a boat repair business out of a boatyard on the side of the canal near me

I was about to send out a search party as nothing heard from you. Knew you'd both be utterly cream crackered, despite all the training you've both had to travel thousands of miles and not let your body or face show it!

Apparently, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Never been fully convinced about that though, myself. I do think all four of us will take some killing off in the finish!

evening folks BS was quite high most of the day yesterday & woke this morning was 9.2
that quickly rose to 11.6
decided to take some insulin this morning so took 4 units, my TIR has dropped to 75% from 95% when I stopped taking insulin approx 6 weeks ago

Have been extremely busy at work and there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to do everything I want need to, but I am really enjoying work in my new position so that’s good

looks like there’s several pages of posts for me to catch up with on here
Can’t believe it’s almost the weekend again already

Sorry for my absence, you lovely lot, but, I’ve been watching golf & I’ll post this now as it’s in my mind & before the REAL action starts next weekend for The Open at Portrush! 😳

My BS has been a bit erratic & was having to use more NR so, HAD to put up my basal from 49 to 50 which has steadied the ship! It’s been cooler & greyer as per usual it seems for summers for us in NI: we seem to get our best weather around Easter; the rest of the summer is damp! Some days I’m sneezing in the mornings when it’s colder & I’ve been considering getting the duvet back out that I put away earlier just before Easter: some early mornings are too chilly for the lighter throw on my bed in the summer!

Quite a bit going on getting used to using the new reusable NovoPen*6 pens & cartridges & learning a few things: they’re metal pens that transfer heat quickly so, CANNOT forget about them in my dress pocket as the insulin gets hot fast from my body heat; I’m used to carrying my phone, needles & pen from bedroom or lounge to the kitchen & back in my dress pocket & sometimes I forget to take the pen back out again right away! The plastic disposable pens didn’t heat up as much or as fast: metal transfers very fast & I had to dump 2 cartridges part way used when I forgot & the insulin cartridge felt hot, body temp about 35 ish degrees hot; I’m learning NOT TO STICK THE PEN IN MY POCKET AT ALL & carry the rest in my pocket with the pen in my hand!

Also, just realised that the NovoPens can be linked to the libre & just did so now after using them for about a week after I finished off my disposable pens! So, all my past week’s entries are more than doubled for the insulin doses as I put them in manually. Had a think about it & now decided to scan as usual before eating & don’t put in the dose as those will be put in automatically when I next scan the pens which I CAN do straight away or could leave it for a bit or if I forget: it’ll all get added in eventually; I changed all my logs with insulin doses to “Cooking” from today as I CAN remember today & left the previous days! And all the obvious little 1 or whatever little doses from the pen entries are the air shots & getting new cartridges from the fridge started & flowing, NR only takes 1 & Tresiba for some reason takes about 5-8!

All little changes that I’m getting used to now!

I’ll TRY to remember to post but, if I don’t I’m ok & watching golf!

Wishing you lovely lot A Very Good Morning, coming up, & have a Wonderful Day! 😉

@Lanny, I am not sure you need to discard cartridges just because they have been warmed by body heat. Pump users have their insulin next to their body, particularly patch pumps which are attached and unless your dress is extremely close fitting, the pens in your pocket are unlikely to go much above 30 I would think. Also I believe you use reasonably large doses, so I imagine a cartridge only lasts you a few days anyway, so hardly enough time for it to go off even if it was at 37 degrees.

Hope you enjoy watching the golf coverage.

6.5

Went to Sadler’s Wells yesterday and saw Quadrophenia (yes it’s now a ballet). Popped this in my diary:

Saw the matinee at Sadler’s Wells today. Immediate thoughts are that it’s very much an uneven production. The dancers are all talented. The scene design is good, especially the projections. Music is dull in this symphonic version. Also the narrative is not clear. Choreography was lacking. Complexity and musicality were absent for me other than in part of the scene with Jimmy and Mod Girl.
I kept wondering what Matthew Ball would have choreographed if it’d been his baby.
Fight scene was the low point as it begged comparison with West Side Story. Quadrophenia didn't win that fight.

I assume that having Pete T involved creatively might have resulted in the piece being hidebound somewhat by a reverence and devotion to the music and to the film. It would have been improved perhaps if those were used to inspire the ballet rather than as a template.

Applause was more than polite with a partial SO but people left at the interval and didn’t return so it’s clearly not delivering on every front, not even the Brighton seafront.

Morning all. 7.3! That’ll be the Crunchie I had last night. I wasn’t hypo, I wasn’t hungry, I wasn’t upset, I just wanted it! I went to the treat drawer for my one bar of Moser Roth dark, and it was just looking at me saying “eat me”. So I did! I can’t always be a paragon of virtue! 😛

BBQ was rubbish as I expected, I’ve said were not having any more, it’s just not enjoyable for me. I’d rather cook in my kitchen and sit inside my house at the table without having to swat insects away and let my wine get hot. Mr Eggy thinks I’m a party pooper!

Going to be hot today. So chores this morning before the heat. Mr Eggy is taking our eldest granddaughter to a hospital appointment in Newcastle re her spinal cyst. She wasn’t confident enough to drive herself, she only passed her test a few months ago. Appointment isn’t until 4pm, wonder how late they will be running by then? Hopefully they can give her a decent prognosis. She is doing ok at the moment, but at only 18 she wants to be able to live a “normal” life.

@Robin what a great thing to see. Lucky you.
@ColinUK if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! How on Earth can you make a ballet about mods and rockers? Where did they put the scooters? o_O

Have a fab Friday.

I can just see the scene playing out:- the Crunchie bar is calling out to you @eggyg “Oh eggyg, oh eggyg! Come & eat me, eggyg!” Very similar to the classic scene from the 80’s “Mannequin” movie where Hollywood is explaining to, I can’t remember the lead character’s name at this moment in time, why he’s having trouble keeping to his diet:- food keeps calling out to him “Oh Hollywood, oh Hollywood! Come & eat me, Hollywood!”

@eggyg They had a Vespa. One. In one scene.

And you could always chuck an ice cube into your wine glass!

Congratulations on your HS today
How is your mum coping in the hot weather?
Thank you for asking, she is coping quite well as her flat doesn’t get any sun until early evening, which is good when it is a heatwave, she does say she still needs to drink more water, but does always have her water bottle with her.

Morning all. A high 12! Yesterday it took all day to bring down high levels and i have no ide why its a 12 this morning unless insulin has been compromised. I've injected and now waiting for breakfast but if it doesn't come down a new pen is coming out.

@ColinUK it can't be Quadrophenia if it hasn't got the scooters!

@eggyg i totally agree. Ice in a nicr glass of Sauvignon?!! Absolutely not!!

3.7 today, no real plans other than light housework, was goi g to go for a run this morning before it got too hot, but want to get my BG up first, then it will be too hot, never mind I can go for a walk later.

@eggyg - I am also not a great fan of doing a BBQ, I love going to other people’s where they have the stress,

@PattiEvans - pleased to here you are now home, but sorry to read Julian is unwell and you are having prescription issues.
