OMG Black Sail youth hostel looks just the same as 60 years ago when I stayed there as a teenager. Fantastic to see it still exists.Yet another early good morning. 5.3. So close.
Been awake since 4.30, up at 5. Already had breakfast, still loving the Fiasp now I’ve got the hang of it. Early doors appointment again, dentist at 9am. Just annual check up. We used to go every six months but after not being able to go for three years because of Covid and then not being able to get an appointment, I realised that’s excessive, and expensive. I’ve got very good teeth and after being charged £374 last year for the two of us for a check up, visit to hygienists and a deposit towards this appointment, I’m skipping the hygienist, Mr Eggy still having his appointment, he drinks red wine and black tea! I’m tempted to just go every two years, if they’ve put the prices up again this year, that’s what I’m going to do. They’ve got us over a barrel as they know we won’t be able to get an NHS dentist anytime soon. Rant over! 😡
Had a brilliant hike yesterday, the rain stayed away and it was a nice temperature to walk in. We walked part of the Coast to Coast path, (St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay), we did Bowness Knott carpark to Black Sail YHA. We met two ladies who were doing it for their 70th birthdays, one is 70 next week and the other in August. Inspirational. I walked with them for a while whilst Mr Eggy dallied taking photos. We had lunch together in the Black Sail YHA, what a fabulous place that is, if we were 40 years younger we would be tempted to stay, but not sure I could share a room with strangers, in a bunk bed! We’ve missed our slot! 😉
Anyhoo, we walked 13.5 miles. Did our stretches before getting in the car so I’m fine today, Mr Eggy walking like an old man and oohing and ahhing every time he has to get off the sofa!
Have a grand day, wet and miserable here all day. Urghh!
Here’s a few photos of the Ennerdale area, and the famous Black Sail YHA. There’s no easy way up there, it’s six miles from the car park, but I don’t suppose anyone staying is bringing the kitchen sink like we do when we go on holiday!
Selfie before we became disheveled and sweaty!
Low hanging cloud over Pillar Rock.
A young roe deer.
Black Sail YHA.
More cloud over the assent to Honister. We didn’t do that, we crossed back over the river, over a ford where I got my feet very wet, through the nature reserve and back down to the carpark.
Safe journey.Morning all and 5.1 for me.

It is amazing. It has an honesty cafe, tea/coffee, biscuits, crisps and fruit. The toilets were sparkling and well equipped, plenty of loo roll and soap. And of course the views.OMG Black Sail youth hostel looks just the same as 60 years ago when I stayed there as a teenager. Fantastic to see it still exists.
It helps living in Cumbria.Love the photos @eggyg you always find such interesting places to walk
There are a few Android apps that use your phone's camera as a magnifier. I'm not sure about iPhones.I have been messing around with the accessibility settings on my phone so I can see stuff a bit clearer. Really struggling with my eyesight at the moment. I have ordered very strong magnifying lenses on a headband which I hope will help. Had to use a handheld one this morning to read a couple of recipes in a book this morning.
I was thinking about speaking to a solicitor if it comes to it, my brother seams to think that once she has taken the probate grant and dads will they should pay out straight away, and there is only a small amount to pay the care home which I believe has to be done first, its how long she intends messing about taking the paperwork in.Missed posting yesterday. Dunno why!
Anyway… 6.0 this AM.
Gym, volunteering and then Sadler’s East tonight.
@Pam123 Heads up that your estranged sister, as executor, has a legal obligation to ensure that the estate is settled in full, in accordance with the will and in a timely fashion. If you think she’s unnecessarily delaying things or not being open and honest with you and your brother then consider consulting a solicitor. Especially as we’re talking about life changing sums. Hopefully it won’t be necessary though.
that's terrible having all the stress for such a long time, the only reason I know approx how much he left us was because I refused to agree to let her go to probate unless she told me, I just wanted to have the same information as my other siblings. its. when my mum passed away 15 years ago she left me and my 2 sisters a valuable ring each, she told us all years before, anyway when she died dad didn't want to part with anything, and I was fine with that. when he passed last year I asked her about the ring and she said she had given the ring in question so my other sisters daughter claiming dad told her to.Morning
4.3 today, didn’t eat much in the evening after a very sweaty run in 29 degrees, all I wanted to do was drink. Today I am taking mum to hospital regarding laser treatment on her right eye, she had the left eye done earlier this year. This evening is the 2 hr yoga class which is lovely.
@eggyg - lovely photos
@Pam123 - totally agree with @ColinUK advice regarding your late father’s will. 4 1/2 years and my later FIL is not settled, FIL house is now sold subject to contract, but it took from Dec 2020 to Feb 2025 due to someone else’s actions.
Many solicitors offer a free 30min consultation or the Citizens Advise Bureau.I was thinking about speaking to a solicitor if it comes to it, my brother seams to think that once she has taken the probate grant and dads will they should pay out straight away, and there is only a small amount to pay the care home which I believe has to be done first, its how long she intends messing about taking the paperwork in.
yes we do have legal protection on our house insurance if I don't hear from my brother over the next few days that she has taken the papers to the bank I will seek advice. Many solicitors offer a free 30min consultation or the Citizens Advise Bureau.
Do you have Legal Protection on your house insurance policy as that may cover what you need.
The sooner you act the better before something is done that cannot be rectified.
