Good morning all. Another 5.2.it must be this Hebridean sea air.
We had a long day yesterday, set off about 10am and got back after 8pm. The weather was dreich.Firstly popped into Tarbert to visit the shop, initially went for some steak but they didn’t have any bought beef mince ( not instead of the steak) and some white Stornaway pudding, Mr Eggy also bought himself a slice of fruit pudding. Like black pudding but white and has fruit in! 🙄 Then off to Stornaway for a mooch, some lunch, and a visit to Tesco, a butchers and a fishmongers. Had an amazing lunch in a lovely bistro, Mr Eggy had the biggest langoustines I’ve ever seen. I had fillet of salmon, pan fried, new potatoes, asparagus ( my favourite veg), white wine and dill creamy sauce with parsley oil. Didn’t have any insulin as I’d gone down to 3.7! I felt fine. Delicious. Got some scallops and cod in the fishmongers, steak, a very large chicken, eggs and black pudding in the butchers. Then to Tesco for some basics. Weather still dreich. Drove to Port of Ness and the Butt of Lewis, both at the end of the world. The weather was glorious. It was busy at the Butt, lots of bikers, motor not cycles we stayed for quite a while as I spotted what I thought were cormorants nesting in the cliffs. Four of them, but on looking at my photos this morning they were actually shags, the females had a crest and were more greenish than black. I’ve seen shags many, many times but never seen them nesting. It was getting onto 6pm by now and we still had the Callanish Stones to visit. We ended up sharing the quiche we’d bought for tea in the car! Saw the stones, took photos and home. Mr Eggy went down the the beach with his camera and didn’t get back until after 10. The colours were amazing, apparently, I watched Race Across the World on IPlayer.
Quiet day today, weather looking good, sun is shining anyways, no idea about the temperature as I’m still in my jimjams where I intend to stay for a while!
Have a fab day.
