    PreDiabetes?

Welcome to the forum @Anne2530 Sorry to hear about your being told you are at risk of diabetes. Empagliflozin is in a class of medications (SGLT2 inhibitors) which encourage the body to emit more glucose in urine, so I wonder if perhaps you might have been told you are at risk of diabetes...

    PreDiabetes?

Recently diagnosed with prediabetis 4 weeks ago. I take a medicine called empagliflozin for heart failure and have been taking it for over a year. I know that this is also a medication for diabetes. I am not understanding that whilst on this medication I developed prediabetis or would this have...

    Hello

For you level to be going up to 13 2 hours after lunch sounds as if your meal is too carb heavy but by doing some strategic testing you may get better information about what foods and meals you can tolerate. Test before you eat and after 2 hours and aim for no more than 2-3mmol/l increase and...

    Hello

Hi. Not sure what my hbac1 is at the moment. However I'm on empagliflozin now and a weekly injection of trulicity. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 25 years ago and for the first 10 to 12 years was diet managed then I took pioglitazone for about 10 years. I wasn't monitored at all through...

    HBA1C comparison

There are several formulae that seek to convert your bg readings and HbA1c and vice versa. Before 2010 we measured HbA1cs in %s, such that 6.5% (DCCT units), the diagnostic for T2, was 48 in new money (IFCC units) In 2010 the EMA of the European Union ruled that all member states should...

...until by next blood test in early September. They said I'm heading in the right direction but want to add to my medication . I'm on empagliflozin and normally they would increase that but due to having the one kidney will need to look at alternatives. Though my weight was not an issue since...

    Exercise, fear

I don't take insulin [metformin & empagliflozin], but have numerous other health conditions including a gyp knee and asperger's. Because of the latter's behavioural oddities like repetitive scheduling, this is very relevant. Anyway, what I did was to work gentle exercise into my schedule by...

    need support on low carb

You need to be aware of the condition Ketoacidosis. I’m mentioning this as I’m on Empagliflozin and too low a carb intake can be a cause if it. You’re not in meditation but still people should be aware as it can be harmful. You should go to your dr it diabetes nurse for a check.

    need support on low carb

Low carb is indeed warned against and should be in the leaflet not to do low carb whilst on empagliflozin because of the DKA risk

    Fatigue levels

This is exactly where I am. Had this problem for the last 10 years and have no explanations (or interest from GP). I suspect I may be a bit depressed as strength isn't the problem - its the "get up and go" that isn't there.

    Fatigue levels

Thanks for this. Yes I've been using freestyle 2 libre for last two weeks and sometimes it doesn't correlate (predicted hb1ac at 42 and keep sugars under 10). I think they're keeping me on tablets because ultimately they're keeping me "well" and avoids the inconvenience of multi day injections...

...small doses until their pancreatic insulin production conks out altogether, when you could be on small doses and learning how to manage it and taking the strain of your failing pancreas, rather than flogging it to death with Gliclazide and making your kidneys work harder with Empagliflozin as...

    Fatigue levels

I'm a diabetic (since 2005) - LADA and last cpeptide suggests am still producing insulin. Am on lantus, gliklazide, empagliflozin, metformin. Some days (and with no obvious pattern) my energy levels seem very low. I know plenty of diabetics who seem full of beans. Anyone else picked out...

    Kidneys

...my liver but I am a kidney missing! Either I was born with only one or its rotted away but I would have usually had symptoms. I'm on empagliflozin wich flushes the glucose out of my body via urine ( which of course requires the kidneys) I don't suppose it means much but my dad had t2 then...

...12 months later test showed 87. It was optician who suggested blood test as I'd gone back after 10 months with vision problems. Now on empagliflozin as I had a reaction to metformin. Changed and continuing to modify diet. So I teach 1-1 in a school for children who need additional support...

    high sugar levels

Might be a class of medicine called a 'Glucagon like peptide 1 receptor' like Semaglutide - these increase insulin production after a meal, I believe and delay how food is digested.
