Just watched a documentary about the Hollies. I learned that the song "Carrie Anne" was about "Marianne Faithful" who they all fancied but they did not dare sing it! :rofl:

 
Recently saw the Spooky Men’s Chorale
Brilliant vocally and very entertaining.
 
Found Heaven, a new album from Conan Grey. I became aware of him due to my daughter putting some of his songs onto our family's communal playlist on Spotify. Quite a few of the songs are in the style of 1980s electro pop, the track Lonely Dancers really reminds me of Safety Dance by Men Without Hats. I think that he must have been exposed to some ballads by the Electric Light Orchestra, the tracks Alley Rose and Forever With Me really sound as if they must have been produced by Jeff Lynne although they weren't as far as I know.

On the other end of the scale from a 2024 album I've also been listening to the complete set of the Brandenburg Concertos by J.S. Bach. I was already familiar with some of the most famous bits but had never listened to them all the way through.

I seem to be quite unusual in that I constantly crave exposure to new (to me, not always actually new) music. Most people my age (66) seem to have musical tastes that fossilised several decades ago and now only ever listen to stuff that they already know. Are there any other oldies out there that are like me, or do you fall into the fossil camp?

59 here, I listen to most types of music, anything from Enya to a bit of Eminem. I can't say I actually go seeking new music, it's mostly a case of tripping over something new when I have the radio on.

Hello, I’m in my mid five decades. I treasure finding something new & can relate some of it to “back in the day.” Pick up on the Influences?

I think I must be the only dad in history with more subversive music tastes than my children. I'm 52 and still listening to all kinds of noisy metal. If anything I've become more extreme as I aged. When I was a teenager Kreator and Sepultura were rather extreme for my liking, nowadays they sound quite stayed compared to other stuff I listen to.
 
Kreator are a few years older than me, so mid to late 50s, but they still pack some punch.

Can't quite place the influences, but that's definitely fits in with my core music style (gonna blame it on being tired .. I'm super tired today)

All a know is someone like lizzy Hale has a fair set of lungs. & acknowledges her influences highlighted in this video? I see it with bands like Ghost, too? 80s, 90s & possibly a representation of today? A great anthem.
