I am really sorry but won’t be there as hubby is working 5am to 1.30pm so not fair to ask him to drive up to taunton afterwards, really hope things go well with the concert and you enjoy the meet up too!

Sorry to hear this @Sarahp - but completely understandable, and the right decision!

Have a great meet up everyone. Its a lovely day for it.

Just arrived at Cosy Club. Just ask for the table booked for Diabetes Support Forum and you will find me.
Looking forward to seeing any that get here early and others at the concert

Lovely to see you all today, sorry I was a bit late and therefore didn't get to chat to some of you very much.

I hope the concert went well and everyone gets home safe and sound 🙂

Hello, glad I came along. Sorry to bus in like “that” unannounced. You are a lovely accepting bunch.
I hope your concert goes or has gone well @SB2015 , “break a leg.” (As the saying goes.) thank you for organising. . 🙂
@Robin , great to meet you & your “hanger on.” Great guy.

Great to see some pumps on the table. In the “wild” & the odd flash of discreet pen.

I'm in the middle of my train journey back home. Lovely to meet you all. It's cool to talk with other people who lives with diabetes and see the little things you deal with daily in others, e.g. scanning sensors, getting a couple Dextroses out... And like @Satan’s little helper said, seeing pumps in real life. Amazing technology.

Thanks @SB2015 for organising, the concert was fantastic and the first time I heard the word insulin in a song 😉

I mentioned to Patti it's interesting that all of us where type 1 (except the husbands!) while in the London Meet we had type 1, 2 and 3c in a group of only 4 people!

What a day yesterday.

It was lovely to have the chance to put faces to names yesterday. Always a pleasure to have those opportunities.

Sorry my time at the meet up was so brief but loved seeing so many of you at the concert.
We all enjoyed performing. It was good performing the songs I had written about Diabetes to so many and knowing that there were some people there who would definitely ‘get’ the references to testing, injecting and the alarms and alerts. We were amazed to find that we raised a grand total of £1686.86!!!!
Thank you.

Patti I will post the lyrics to the two songs separately.

'The Best That I Can' Lyrics:
It's hard at times to remember, that perfection's not part of the plan.
I know what to do, I need what I need, and I do the best that I can.

When busy, relaxed, I forget it at times, but something reminds me to pause.
Glucose too high or going too low. Time is needed to ponder the cause.

Test, correct, then wait. Test, adjust and review.
Count all the carbs and inject. Remember and don't forget.

It's hard at times to remember that perfection's not part of the plan.
I know what to do, I need what I need, and I do the best that I can.

Now this is our new normal, with no limits in any way.
Family and friends are patient, and accept it as part of shared days.

Test, correct, then wait.nTest, adjust and review.
Count all the carbs and inject. Remember and don't forget.

Hermione-Alert and Alarmed

The song is a conversation between Hermione (my pump) and those of us singing tenor, with pump alerts and alarms provided by Sopranos and altos

Listen to me - Okay - You‘re going too high for me -Oh no
Listen to me - Okay - You’re going too low for me - Oh no
Listen to me - Again!!! - More insulin please - Okay
Listen to me - Okay - New battery soon

Hermione is working
I can relax and ignore her for now
I will leave her alone
But what now

Just stop - Why? - Button is stuck again - Oh no
Just stop - Again!!!! - You’re dangerously low - Oh no
Stop now - Why? - Insulin blocked - Aghhhhhhh
I am broken

She is mended. I can leave her.
Do nothing for now. Leave her
There are no warnings heard here for now
Leave her alone

Both lovely songs Sue.

Interesting title for the first one. The opening song of Queensryche's Empire album is also called Best I Can. The song tells the story of a boy who ends in a wheelchair but strives to fulfil his dreams. I found that song helped me a lot at the time of my diagnosis back in the 90s. When I saw your song I started reading it to Queensryche's music in my head.

Having now been diabetic longer than I was non diabetic, all has sort of become second nature, but your song describes the daily "grind" beautifully.
