Look after yourself & get better quickly!

Oh no not again Alan? no need to tell you anything you know the score, wishing you a speedy
recovery take care my friend man {{{HUGS}}}.

@Northerner Have you checked the labelling on Capri Sun because we had some given ages ago and I was shocked at how little carbs there were in it at the time. It may be it was a no added sugar variety but considering I thought it was orange juice it was exceptionally low in carbs
Actually, you're right, not that high! 4.9g per 100g.

Thanks for the good wishes and advice everyone 🙂 I've spoken to the doctor and he has arranged for some anti-sickness pills to be sent to me 🙂 He was good, and knew his stuff 🙂 The good news is that I haven't been sick again since getting up, BG levels back to single figures (just!), and ketones down to 2.6 from 4.6 🙂 Hopefully, on the mend, unlike the 3 week horror show I had to endure last time! 😱 🙂

Drat! That sugar tax has drinks changing their sugar content! 🙄o_O Need to read labels very carefully! I can only reliably trust coke, unless they change too?

The one's we had were even less than that.... something like 1.8g/100mls I think. It was a pleasant surprise for me as I was able to drink them as a low carb treat .... as I rarely have anything orange flavoured but not ideal in your situation....

Glad you’re getting better & will have anti sickness pills! 🙂

Hopefully on the mend now then, you just take care of yourself though and don’t leave it too late like last time!

Phew thank heavens for that.
I hope you feel much better soon . I also hope your BG and ketone levels behave themselves from now on.

Yes, it’s really annoying 😡 Even Lucozade has been messed up - idiotic to have a glucose drink with s**-all glucose! I stick with Coke (ie the proper branded one) or Pepsi now. Both are excellent for hypos and illness.

I’m very glad things are improving @Northerner Here’s to a swift recovery.

I've been very ill since yesterday afternoon and through the night
1f641.png
Started throwing up about 3pm then about 20-30 times during the night

The only thing I can think is that it's something I ate, but it's bloody persistent
1f641.png
I've just made an appointment to speak to a doctor later this morning, so nobody needs to worry about me!

I've had something like this before, and the main problem is that it has pushed my blood sugar levels into double figures, so I need to inject small amounts of insulin to keep it under some sort of control. The problem with that is that if I inject too much and have a low blood sugar, I can't treat it because anything I eat or drink will promptly end up in in the large pyrex bowl I employ for such medical situations 😱 As such, I could continue to drop and fall into a coma :( Too little and the build up of acidic elements in my blood could lead to DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis), which is also a life-threatening condition :(
My ketone levels are currently High, at 4.6. This is largely due to the fact that I haven't eaten or drunk any carbohydrates for many hours (non-diabetic friends may know about the 'ketone diet'. These are normally fine, but you need insulin to clear them from your bloodstream otherwise they can turn your blood highly acidic and risk organ failure :( I had DKA when I was diagnosed and ended up in hospital , so don't want that again! But this time I have insulin. :( My throat is very sore from all the stomach acids I have thrown up :( I'm writing all this so I know not to leave out any details for the doctor, who 'deals' with diabetes, but may not be familiar with Type 1🙂
Watch this space! 🙂
Hope you feel better! please keep us in the loop with everything.

Your body's going to be desperate for fluids Alan - where's the Robinsons' Barley Water when you need it?

Well done mate can`t keep a good man down.

Glad you're on the mend. Sending good vibes!

Thinking of you Alan, sending hugs and hope today you feel much better.

Thanks everyone 🙂 Still feeling a bit rubbish, but much better than I was 🙂 Living on a diet of ginger nuts and sweetened L&G tea to try and keep ketones down. Main problem is lack of sleep as lying down makes things worse, so sleeping in chair ☹️
