Oops -was watching the football and twisted the pen wrong way

I should re-phrase the twisted it the wrong way - I used the wrong hand!
I get that you twisted it back from 60 to 55, but how did you manage to get it twisted all the way round to 60 in the first place? Was the football that nail-biting?

Glad you got through the night ok @mashedupmatt but sorry you're feeling rubbish.
Think most of us have accidentally given too much basal at one point or other!
Keep us updated.

Really relieved that you are through to morning reasonably OK but do be aware that according to the profile of activity, a larger dose of Levemir will last longer than your usual small dose, so don't assume it will be gone from your system in the same time frame. It will likely last 20+hours although yes you should me over the peak of activity.
Are you skipping your morning dose of Levemir?
That graph shows you were clearly skating on very thin ice all night!!

@Inka I must confess I too was wondering if I should have recommended a trip to hospital.

Thanks @rebrascora - I'm obviously keeping a very close eye on it - finger-pricking every half an hour and it is gradually creeping up (heady heights of 4.6 now!) and am feeling a bit better - think I've worked out what I actually did now too - instead of dialing up 5 units, I've done it with the other hand - clicked all the way round to 60 units which is the maximum on a Novopen and then clicked back 5 units to what I thought was the right dose - I feel so stupid!!

And have skipped my normal 5 I have in the morning!

Eek! Sorry to hear about your dose-saster @mashedupmatt 😱

Glad you were able to keep a close eye on things. Hopefully things will begin to settle back down over the next 24 hours.

You aren’t the first here to have made a major dose error, and you won’t be the last. Don’t give yourself too much of a hard time

That's highs & lows of football for you your mind is on nowt else.

Was it Champions League games or Championship game you were watching?

Grab bag of crisips done and steady ATM - f'm so annoyed I've let it come to this but I'm sure a lot of us have been there - I have lift tablets at the ready and have briefed the OH to administer as neccesary - thanks @rebrascora as ever 🙂
Several times I've accidentally given myself a mega-dose of NovaRapid at night instead of my long-acting Lantus!

Leeds v Millwall and we lost as well (I'm a Millwall fan)!

Had a feeling it was that match & that you might be Millwall fan.

It was a big ask beating Leeds last night as they are having a cracking season, how long they'll last in Prem next time around is anyone's guess.

I think the own goal in the 3rd minute was what made me make the mistake! Wasn't a bad game though

How are you getting on now, @mashedupmatt? 12+ hrs since your inadvertent o/d, is your BG now in a happier place (and you also)?

I used to live in Southend and always stayed at home when the Millwall fans came down, they were hardcore!

Feeling better thanks, just exhausted - physically and mentally - had a bacon roll with no bolus insulin this morning - predictably spiked but not too high and has come down gradually - now hovering around the 4 mark - over the worst of it now thank god!

Cannot comment on your type1 woes but glad it has resolved. However reading about the footie brought back great memories. I was living in Pompey in the eighties and was the duty solicitor a number of times on a Monday morning. Pompey had its own hooligans known as the 657 crew ( when they played Cardiff away a group dressed up as wedding guests but Pompey Police recognised them) i remember possibly in 82 i acted for 70 Millwall fans. One of them complained of being hit with a chair. The local sports reporter wrote about it and i witness summons him! There were very few Pompey fans arrested as they tended to stir up trouble then dissappear in the narrow streets.

So this was my graph for last night/today after my faux pas - didn't have my morning basal (think I'd had enough!) and had breakfast without any bolus - skipped lunch but had a few snacks throughout the day to keep myself on the straight and narrow whilst I still had a lot of insulin (10 x my normal amount) sloshing around - @rebrascora you were bang on in that it did last a lot longer than normal - ate normally again tonight (with a calculated bolus) and done my normal nighttime basal a moment ago (got it right this time!) - had another small snack afterwards which has sent me quite high again (as expected as I did not bolus for it (intentionally)) but is gradually coming down again - last night was a bit hairy at times as you can see but I've got through it and feel much better now and looking forward to a good night's sleep - thank you everyone for your support - you are all amazing
