Oops -was watching the football and twisted the pen wrong way

You've got an interesting 24hrs ahead, I think. No particular advice to offer, but you probably won't need any bolus tomorrow! Actually I think I'd set out to keep a good handle on what carbs I take on board for the next 24 hrs, rather than just eating because it feels the right thing to do. Good luck.

NB set your low Alarm at its maximum, volume up high and put your phone in something metal to amplify that volume.

Can you even do that without breaking it or did you dial it up to full dose of 60 units on a NovoPen and then dial it back 5.
I don't envy you the next 24 hours either. At least you know with bolus insulin that it will be dealt with in 5 hours and there is a certain amount of predictability in how much you would need to eat, but with basal it is going to be much harder to judge it I think.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Definitely going to in for a midnight feast I think. I wonder if plenty of pizza might be the thing to see you through the night?
Don't forget that if you hypo, glucose absorbs through the cells in the mouth quicker than a few quick chews and swallowing it, particularly if you already have a stomach full of food slowly digesting. Just concerned in case you have a major BG crash. Do you have Glucagon injections available just in case? I find Levemir much more powerful than Fiasp for instance, so for me such a big overdose of Levemir would be more daunting, than the time I injected 22 units of Fiasp instead of 22 units of Levemir. Do you have someone there with you?

I am not sure I have heard (read) of anyone else doing this so you might be breaking new ground on the forum! 🙄 Will be really interested to hear how it goes. Relieved you are not alone. Be very cautious about any activity tomorrow..... or even tonight for that matter! 😉

I hope you’re ok @mashedupmatt Personally, I’d have said this needed a visit to A&E. That’s a massive overdose of Levemir. Obviously better than doing it with a bolus insulin, but still very worrying. Take care.

Update - got a bit of sleep and have just finger-pricked (again (Need to order more strips)!) and am at 4.2 - went down to 2.8 at one stage - feel awful but hopefully it should wear off soon - gonna have some brekkie with no Bolus - I still can't understand how I managed to do it without realising - and we lost the football too!

Hi @mashedupmatt I have just caught up on this thread. Really hoping you are going to be OK today.
Maybe this could be fed back to the manufacturers. A modification could be done so the pen can't be twisted the wrong way.
I'm sure you are not the first person to do this.

I dialled it up using my left hand rather than my right as I usually do (I think!) and got it dreadfully wrong! Was not concentrating and had a couple of beers too watching the football so that didn't help - it should wear off in a couple of hours so over the worst of it hopefully - this has been by graph all night!
