Unsalted nuts are a great filler, I have them all the time and mix them in with some dishes, but I wonder if dry roasted nuts say cashews are ok as a treat?
No reason why not they may be a bit saltier than raw unsalted nuts.Unsalted nuts are a great filler, I have them all the time and mix them in with some dishes, but I wonder if dry roasted nuts say cashews are ok as a treat?
Dry roasted peanuts are one of my goto snacks. I usually have a 30g portion, but generally only 2 portions a day.Unsalted nuts are a great filler, I have them all the time and mix them in with some dishes, but I wonder if dry roasted nuts say cashews are ok as a treat?
yes sounds good to me Martin, we can't be saints all the time LoL I take notions for cornflakes so every once in a while I have a bowl instead of my main dinner, or sometimes crunchy nut cornflakes LoLDry roasted peanuts are one of my goto snacks. Yes Robin I can see the mistake which I could easily makeDon’t make the mistake I did when I was in a hurry yesterday, I bought a packet of cashew nuts in Grape Tree, and when I came to open them tonight, realised they said 'honey roasted' on them, and are unbelievably, cloyingly sweet, and 37 carbs per 100g!
there is only one nut I hate and that is almonds in any form. i would never even consider them. Bear in mind helli I am talking about a treat not something I do every day and thus I am well aware. Nuts have little bearing on my BG.Bear in mind all nuts are not equal. For example cashews are higher in carbs than almonds.
That doesn't mean cashews are off the menu. Just worth checking how they affect your BG and maybe eating smaller portions.
Or maybe trying something like smoked almonds?
omg don't even go there with jelly babies LoL who can only eat a few, if I buy them I would have to eat them all, same with wine gums so I figure it is best I don't buy them. In the car I do keep a wee tin with treats in case of emergency, otherwise they are not touched. Another weakness I have is toast just plain with lurpak, never found a brown or wholemeal bread I like, M & S do a bearable one, so for me it is always going to be a Warburtons white. Sometimes with grilled cheese, yummy.Lidl have started doing bags of roasted mixed nuts which are really nice instead of just roasted peanuts.... I buy both. I really must get into a habit of dividing them into 30g portions the same as my jelly babies because I am terrible for opening a big packet and just keep dipping into it until they are half gone! I don't buy just cashews because they are too high in carbs for me.
Smoked almonds are really nice.
My advice would be to save your money as these things are almost always of minimal or no help to Type 2 diabetics let alone Type 1 which is a very different situation. They are mostly just advertising hype to sell a product and make someone money. There has some advertisement lately on a nut milk product called Hevisure Gold which is able to stabilize glucose level. Have not tried it yet but can explore.
I agree I really wish i had never fell prey to these and allsorts of diet regimes that take your money. The best way is to be honest and truthful and help yourself. What is free advise usually is tested and tried and does not help a third party. My advice would be to save your money as these things are almost always of minimal or no help to Type 2 diabetics let alone Type 1 which is a very different situation. Just look at the carb value as that is the important thing rather than fat unless you need low fat for other medical reasons. Can I ask, when buying nuts or seeds, what carb or fat content should I be looking for.
I look for under 10% carb. I don’t worry about the fat! Though I do weigh what I eat to keep an eye on the calories. Can I ask, when buying nuts or seeds, what carb or fat content should I be looking for.
