Let's be boring and talk bicycles!

An hour of mindless turbo is sometimes just the thing to do!
There’s definitely a mental barrier to going into a cold garage to fire up the turbo trainer but Zwift can be quite addictive. If I feel like a wander through the countryside, I follow Indoor Cycling Videos on YouTube and go for a virtual wander through the Dolomites!

I quite fancy the look of the Cotswolds one (as I've never ridden up there, plus chilled out sounds nice), but I was planning to ride to London and around the middle (it's RideLondon that weekend) while it's closed to traffic that weekend.

I could probably be persuaded by peer pressure to ride to (or at the very least around) the Cotswolds instead tho.

Equally if people fancy the Mendips I'd be game.

I live near Frome in Somerset, I think my profile says Bath (where I work), I should probably update that!
I’d be up for a meet-up. I’m near Hull but travel not a problem. Humber Bridge sportive is taking place on 23 June if that’s of interest…

That would would be the weekend after the end of diabetes week, so would sort of follow @SimonP's suggestion. I could try and make it that way, the route looks interesting.

Can we do the Dolomites?

Assuming Diabetes UK aren't in fact willing to sponsor us for travel to Italy for a promo-video on cycling with T1 diabetes, I'm also happy to travel to something in the UK (though grudgingly as Italy does sound nice).

My legs struggle with the Malverns, so not sure how they'd cope with the dolomites!

Why don't you all do something like London to Brighton? 75 year old friend still does it every year after over two decades!

We're like a grand tour peloton, we don't hang about.
I was just hoping for the cost of the flight, but if Diabetes UK branding on the side of a bus works better for them then that works for me too 🙂 😉

How far can this go? First cars? Mine was a 1965 Ford Cortina with very nice red plastic seats bought in July 1975. I actually sold it for more than I paid for it. The only car I have ever done that with!

Mine was a Ford Prefect. Great car. Amazingly uncomfortable. I could never tell my speed from the continuously moving spedometer 'pointer'.

Vacuum fed windscreen wipers. Always died when the acceletaor pedal was pressed. Brakes, hmmm, maybe. 3 gears, slow, slightly faster, excitingly fast (or hair raising - not from the speed but from the glitchy control and Mcphearson strut suspension). I think it was 6 horse power tops. Hmm, probably ponies. 0 to 60 never. Maybe 50mph tops after a good few minutes.

I called it percy for its 'perseverence'

Great car

(Not mine above but similar)

Mine was a Renault 5.

I quite like the look of the new electric one (as long as it goes fast - so the the Alpine version), though tbh still not overly keen on electric despite working in automotive.

I learnt to drive in a Renault 4 (bought by my dad in 88, my brother still keeps it going) but my first car was also a 5, a diesel model.

Mine was mark 1 ford escort, 1100cc so wasn't quickest. Went from that to mark II 2.0L capri, it went like sh#t off a stick compared to escort.
