My mother has been suffering from diabetic conditions from the last 15 years. She has been on medications mainly Glimepiride and her sugar levels were round about 200 mg/dl most of the times. But since the last few months, her sugar levels have been on the very high side (sometimes exceeding 400 mg/dl with most of the readings in 300-400 range). Endocrinologist put her on insuline (Novomix 30 Flexpin) dosage with initial recommended dose of 20 units in the morning and 14 in the night. After start of administration of Novomix, with her fasting and random sugar levels both still being high, I increased the night dose to 18 and and morning dose to 22. Her morning readings showed below 160 mg/dl but random (after lunch) reading was as st in excess of 300. Since then I have been gradually increasing the morning dose (which now stands at 28) but still her random blood glucose levels are fluctuating between 270 and 360. i wanted to ask if the said dose is enough? Wha if I split the morning dose into two doses of morning and noon (will three pre meal doses of Novomix 30 control the levels) ? Reply will be highly appreciated.
