Libre over exaggerates the highs so, unless you double checked it with a finger prick, that 16 might only have been about 14, but nevertheless, a significant rise.
What sort of exercise was it?

How long ago is it since he had his bolus insulin for his meal after the exercise and did you give him extra insulin because of the 16?
He is obviously going to need some carbs to top him up a bit. Maybe a mixture of some fast and some slower release carbs if you did give him a correction dose. The NovoRapid will be active for 4-5 hours, so if it is only 2 or 3 hours since he injected, he will likely continue to drop further. He will be more at risk of a hypo tonight too so perhaps have a bigger evening meal or push his levels up to between 8-10 at bedtime with a snack if he is below that.

He had taken his dinner, so, he is taking some biscuits to bring up his level

Hi. How did things go last night?. Hope the exercise yesterday didn't cause him to have any overnight hypos.

The exercise impact was good and today, he has good readings as well. Yesterday, he ate biscuits, his readings went up to a level that we wanted. Then with Toujeo, it brings down a little bit more but still above 4mmol. So, it turns out good...thanks a lot and for checking it. This morning, he also did not have DP as well. Lets see tomorrow morning. Everyday is a new adventure..thats what I told my friends...

Sounds like you are doing great and that little touch of humour about "every day being an adventure" suggests that you are feeling a tiny bit more relaxed about it although we all know here that sometimes you have to laugh or make fun of it or you would cry! It is a lot to cope with but I find that the more confident and casual I am about it, the better my results are. Not saying I don't still have scary moments occasionally, when I get it wrong or the unexpected happens and catches me out, but you learn that the human body is surprisingly resilient and it definitely gets easier with practice and experience.

Yes, Me and my son trying to learn to be less stressful and treat each day a new day..try to expect consistency and yet expect surprises. His picnic trip was a big help and spending it with friends instead of with mom and dad all the time relieve some stress and create some space.... I shared all the notes and conversation from this forum with him and it was also a relieve to hear about DP, glucose went up when doing strenous exercise, up and down in BG trying to figure out the food vs insulin amount, etc. We are not alone and we can do it !

Well done to all of you.

So much to take on board, and it takes time to get settled into the ‘new normal’ for all of you. So pleased that the picnic with his friends went well, and that he is try8g different forms of exercise.

You have both done incredibly well in a very short space of time and you have every right to be proud both of him and yourself. I think being the parent is probably the harder role, especially at moments like this were you have to walk away and let them get on with it themselves. I am sure he will ring you if he gets a bit stuck and doesn't know what to do and we are here to support you both if/when you need it.

Yesterday, my son came down with fever, his BG went up. He ate paracetamol and fever is gone by late evening yesterday. However, I see that the BG did not go down as fast as normal. Did the body keep releasing glucose ?

it takes normally a day or 2 after not felling so well that the ketones should go out from the system ( it happens because the kidneys do not filter the sugar properly when you have diabetes )
so that's the reason for higher BS
i hope he feels better by now

Yes, much better now. Thanks for checking in

Quick question : if the honeymoon phase is over, will we see a big hike in the insulin dosage, assuming we ate almost the same food ?

Like many things related to diabetes, the honeymoon period varies from person to person.
Some people find their insulin producing cells temporarily recover and insulin doses go down and then up again.
Some find their insulin producing cells die in one go.
Some find they die off gradually and insulin doses slowly rise.
Some find honeymoon period lasts a few months.
Some find it lasts for years
(It is typically shorter for children.)

But it is important to remember there are many things that can affect our BG. Insulin doses can increase due to stress, illness, weather, bad night's sleep and more
