Hello

Day seven on the meds today and don't feel great, don't mean mentally I mean physically. Headache, the back of my neck feels hot, and my joints are aching more than normal, quite a bit more, today first time I felt tired in seven days, the constant weeing has stopped thank good and the weight lose seems to have peaked as the nurse said.

Is this normal?

Had my biggest keeping active day yesterday, now you know I've got mobility issues so this was really a tough day for me.

Got a train from Kent to London and had to stand in one spot for the half hour journey all the way. From being dropped off at the station I had been walking or standing for three hours, watched the football then a big walk from the stadium to the train station again the half hour home standing all the way again

Really did take a lot out of me but felt great when I sat down last night 🙂

I love eggs and was told if you are using the gym eggs are really good for you because of the protein value. Today I read that people with diabetes should limit the egg intake but it doesn't say why, they are very low in carbs so what am I missing?

Where did you read this Ian? I can't think of any reason to limit eggs. Many people on this forum eat them on a regular basis.
Maybe it's that hoary old myth that the cholesterol in egg yolks increases your cholesterol. We are recommended to keep an eye on our cholesterol levels

I googled it as I was wondering how many per week was acceptable and it was in one of the answers, never heard of it before

I could do 10 - 12 a week easy, I hard boil 6 at the start of the week and love scrambled and omelettes
We have our own chickens and get about 20 to 24 eggs a week. I use them in omelette, poached eggs, frittatas and waffles on a regular basis plus hard boiled and egg mayonnaise for summer salads.

Tried swimming but where I've got right sided weakness, I can't swim in a straight line
Sorry I’m a bit behind on this thread but I’ve never seen a rule at my pool saying you have to swim in a straight line. My swim is a bit wonky because of nerve damage in right arm but you soon work around it.

Don’t trust everything you read online. Don’t even trust everything you read on this site, it’s just random peoples opinions

I turned 60 two months ago and decided it was time to loose some weight this was before the diabetic nurse gave me the bad news, I've just lost a stone so the low carb diet is certainly working

Is anyone here on Dapagliflozin or has been on it ? Got a question for you

Got a bit of an issue with it, it burns down below the nurse said I should drink water with it as it will make peeing stronger, do you have this problem? It's not a uti it stings the outside, not going into too much detail

As the medication is encouraging your kidneys to work harder to excrete excess glucose via urine people are subject to various infections 'down below' particularly yeast /thrush but males can get a condition called balanitis which could be a possibility. It would be worth speaking to your nurse or the pharmacist.

I think it's misleading to say that SGLT2 inhibitors make the kidneys 'work harder'. They change how the kidneys filter glucose (And sodium) but they are not making them work harder or putting any stress on them. If anything, there is a protective side effect on the kidneys due to the reduction of pressure in the kidneys and they can also help lower blood pressure.

The extra glucose in the urine can cause skin irritation and fungal infections. This might be the burning. Best off talking to your GP.

Well done on the weight loss!
