Fantastic, Martin. Imagine if you hadn't taken any action waiting for your DESMOND course to advise you on dietary advice that would probably not have made much difference to your original HBA1c level.😛

Funny thing happened this morning.... I got a text from the surgery asking me to book an appointment for my annual Diabetic check up. I've only been diagnosed sincehm the beginning of May and I was there 5 weeks ago for a follow up HBA1c and I have another appointment booked for September 4th....

Just seen my post to you from the 20th July Martin;

‘Could be as low as 34 with a 6 average but as Brando says, depends on what’s happening outside of testing periods. Good going though! 😛

Delighted that the prediction was so close. 35 is a brilliant result, well done! Amigo
Was very close @Amigo , .. !

Told you not to worry. Well done, keep it up 🙂

Well done, great results.

Great!! You two = heroes.
I just followed the advice here, and did a bit of reading on here, and also books about Diabetes T2, no hero just listened and read, it's the people here who should be congratulated ..for taking the time to post advice & answers to newbies that they must have had to post so many times before...!

Well done to you @Ruby/London ...!

Not sure about that, Martin. I am really struggling this last week and just want to eat carbs all the time. I have been really disciplined since the beginning of May but feel like throwing in the towel on the low carb diet. My bg readings have shot up to the 9s and 10s after eating. I am not going to maintain my gains if I keep this up.

Yep, it's a pig to go low carb but think about the problems with high bg levels. That's good enough for me to get motivated and trust me, it's probably the only time I have been motivated this much in my life.
Play 'Eye Of The Tiger' that's how Rocky got inspiration 🙂
Kidding aside, it's tough. Good luck 🙂

Do it for YOU, Ruby - you are WORTH it - and I couldn't care less how selfish it sounded when I decided that for me - it was perfectly plain that no-one else would do it for me - so I had no choice in the matter. THEY would never suffer in the slightest if I didn't make the effort - no - but I ruddy well would.

Also helps to be stubborn and utterly immoveable in this instance too ! LOL

Learning from experts, honey🙂

I think I got knocked off course eating veggie food for three days at a Buddhist festival, which mainly consisted of really high carb stuff - rice, falafel, different breads It was either than or starve! Doing much better today.

Aren't chums great🙂

Pleased to hear you back on track and feeling a bit better, it's sometimes not easy being in the diabetes club..but we need our own diet , keep the faith..and take care Ruby xx

Thinking about the 5 stages of changing habits, I am quite good at steps 1-4 but struggle with stage 5.

1. Pre-contemplation - Do I want to change?
2. Contemplation - How will I change
3. Preparation - Preparing to change
4. Action - Making changes
5. Maintenance - keeping them going 😛
