It is such a shame that things have become so conveyor belt, reminds why I came out of nursing :( Why can’t they stop for a minute and consider the person with feelings, anxieties, apprehension 😡 it costs nothing to be nice, to smile. We work so hard to change our whole lifestyles so we can keep things under control, it’s not easy and sometimes it’s bloody scary 😱 @Martin9 I’m sorry that nurse was so rude, she clearly left her compassion at home 😡

Sadly, seems par for the course, Martin. When I was diagnosed I was told that I would be referred to the DESMOND course that was pretty bad in terms of dietary advice. Everything that helped me in my first month I learned from here; and I have to give full credit to the site and Forum members for helping me get on track and stay on track. ... Don't wait for help and support that may not be forthcoming, people here are very generous with their support. I link in with my GP surgery for blood tests but come here if I have a query ...

Me too Ruby, best thing I did was find this forum! Had I followed the advice I was given on DESMOND I’d still be struggling with high numbers o_O

Same here. No help, just came here....sorted.

And I'm still waiting to be invited to a DESMOND course there's no point to it unless you get it relatively soon after diagnosis it seems to me..

Well, after all the worry, just had a phone call from GP surgery my recent HbA1c was 35 m.mol/mol. GP very pleased and saying I have excellent diabetic control and should consider reducing Metformin. So I'm quite chuffed with that.
Can I just thank all on here without you lot it would have been impossible ...🙄🙄🙄 !!

Terrific results Martin! 🙂 We can make the suggestions and answer your questions, but it's been down to you to put it all into practice 🙂

Thanks @Northerner, if I didn't have your suggestions & advice I would have had no idea how to make this diabetes thing better, I cannot thank you guys enough ..!

Fantastic, Martin. Imagine if you hadn't taken any action waiting for your DESMOND course to advise you on dietary advice that would probably not have made much difference to your original HBA1c level.😛

Funny thing happened this morning.... I got a text from the surgery asking me to book an appointment for my annual Diabetic check up. I've only been diagnosed since the beginning of May and I was there 5 weeks ago for a follow up HBA1c and I have another appointment booked for September 4th....

Hi Ruby, what was you HBA1c last time ..?

Great result @Martin9 - brilliant that you found the information and support from the forum so helpful, but remember it was your hard work that turned that information into a great result.

You have done brilliantly!

Well done, @Martin9! That’s brilliant.😛:D😛

Just seen my post to you from the 20th July Martin;

‘Could be as low as 34 with a 6 average but as Brando says, depends on what’s happening outside of testing periods. Good going though! 😛

Delighted that the prediction was so close. 35 is a brilliant result, well done! Amigo

Fantastic! Congrats, Martin.
