So Monday night / Tuesday morning I tested and it was raising to 14 so I Got up to get it under control, correction, waited for it to work, correction and waited. About 2.30am I went to bed
Last night I tested around midnight again and it was 8 woke up this morning and it’s 17.1!
I’m so fed up with not sleeping or sleeping but at these levels and being tired and feeling rotten all day!

So sorry its still not behaving. It can and obviously is making you feel uurrrghhh. I used to be on Lantus, then found it wasn't working for the full 24 hours, levels all over the place. Got switched to Tresiba and apart from an overnight blip a few weeks ago, have been much better. Could it be the Lantus not suiting you? Have you heard anything about your appointment?

I’ve no idea what it could be. When I increased it by 2 units I was then having loads of hypos and it will still doing this over night so nurse said go back down again.
I don’t know how much longer I can go this. Spent 20 minutes crying in the shower. I hate it

I'm sorry you're going through a rough time, I hope you and your diabetes team can find a solution soon.

Have you been able to discuss other alternatives, besides adjusting insulin doses? The Lantus does seem like an obvious culprit, if you're confident about injection sites, the food you're eating etc.

Thank you.
I haven’t got a team currently as I am normally fine with just my GP surgery,
The nurse at the surgery said she was making the referral last week: I’m not sure how long it is supposed to take. It’s a week now.
I’m not sure what to do to get help. Really feeling alone and lost.

It could be that the paperwork hasn't been sent over/processed yet, or they think you're just expecting a routine appointment. It would pay to give the diabetes team a call to stress how urgently you need help. A diabetic nurse should be able to give you a telephone consultation in the meantime before you're properly referred. I really hope you get the support you need soon!

Thank you.

Sorry this is still an issue. If you have the details of the team your are being referred to then you could get in touch with them directly, just to make sure they have a) received the referral and b) for an idea of timescales.

I contacted the referral team at my surgery, the request was made on 15th July. She is going to call the hospital team and chase it up.
I was nearly in tears on the phone and I said I really don't feel well and cannot cope, so she understands it is important and is calling me back within an hour.

*huge hugs* @PhoebeC It’s absolutely horrible when blood sugars do this. I had a spell a few years ago and I cried too, along with panicking and feeling quite desperate about it all.

Go through everything physical - your injection sites, your needles, your insulin. Try not to panic, just systematically rule things out and look for a cause (if one can be found and it’s not stupid random stuff).

There’ll be an answer and you’ll get it sorted. Focus on that. Personally, I’d also try phoning the diabetes clinic (even if you’re not officially under them yet) and ask to speak to a DSN.

This started on 29th June and I’ve had maybe 2 or 3 nights that’s it’s been okay.

I should get a call by Friday, if not I contact the referral team again.
She’s going to inform the surgery diabetes nurse again, which I don’t think is any use, she knows as much as I do. And we can’t fix it. She she arranged the referral for this reason.

The person I spoke to today suggested I see a GP but I don’t think that much use I need to see someone who can understand what’s happening. I know how to correct it myself but that overnight issue I cannot work it

I’ve already done all the obvious with it, changing pens, sites etc

Hopefully I can speak to them soon:

Thanks again everyone x

Keep your chin up. Its horrible and frustrating when you can't work out why its happening. Keep chasing and you'll get to speak to someone soon. In the meantime, have a rant on here, we all understand your frustration

So the Diabetes Nurse at the hospital phoned me. She has sent me the link to set up sharing my Libre results with her, and she will call me on Monday.
She said its normally 6 weeks for an appointment, so in the meantime we will see what we can do to sort the problem.

Something which she said that is concerning is that my surgery noted my issues as hypos, which is not the issue at all! That concerns me as the issue is Hypers. Still its some progress.

Hmmm! If your surgery’s ‘expert’ nurse is anything like mine that would be par for the course! Hypo, hyper, whatever!

The good news is you’ve got contact now with a proper DSN 🙂

I'm so glad she got back to you quickly. At least you can start and get things sorted now and there is someone who can help. Hypos/hypers?... i'm not sure most people without diabetes know the difference . Anyway keep us posted.

Glad you are getting some follow-up at last @PhoebeC

Hope the fresh pair of eyes is able to unpick the BG craziness you are struggling with

Oh @PhoebeC you certainly are going through the mill, do hope you get sorted now.
We are here for you too but you can`t beat a good DSN, results on Monday hmm
please keep us informed how you feel, daily please several of us will respond.
Stay safe take care. {{{HUGS}}}

So the night before it was 4.5 before bed, and because if what’s been happening at 1am I thought it would be fine, seems about 3am I went low and didn’t release until I woke up at 7am. Very scary!

Then last night it was fine, went to bed 8ish, it did rise to about 12 at 1am again but then dropped back down to 6 at 7am.

this leaves me unsure what to do, okay so it’s it’s near 4-5 I should treat it with something to be sure it doesnt drop.
But it is rising ever other night at 1am by a lot.
I think I need to make sure it’s about 6-8 before bed then it’s got room either way

I don’t know what was different other than my period finally stopped, it started on 5th July, and I’ve been on since yesterday. Husband thinks it could be my period but my issues started 29th June, so who knows?!

I don’t normally have this issue with my periods it’s normally hypos but not this.

The mystery continues.

Thank you all for the support, I haven’t felt this way or had problems like this since I was pregnant 10 years ago.
I just cried most of Wednesday and worried I was cracking up mentally.
I felt very upset actually and alone, I know I’m not alone with you lot.

Its horrible when it makes you feel like that. A few weeks ago, i had in range readings at bedtime then, like you, it shot up around 1am, stayed high for a while then dropped back to in range before getting up. My DSN said not to worry as it was back in range by morning but i didn't think that was right so i upped/monitored insulin. Don't know whether it was that or the fact that whatever was causing just stopped but its been ok again the last few weeks. I'm the sort of person who likes to know the exact consequence of something i do and managing diabetes isn't like that so it is frustrating when you try to do all the right things and it doesn't work out the way you want it. You only have the weekend to wait now and hopefully you'll get some answers Monday. Keep us posted on how you get on and try and stay positive. We are all here to support each other.

Period/hormone issues can definitely affect blood sugar, as can hormonal contraception - and the effect can be far more than you’d imagine.

With your question about whether to eat at bedtime @PhoebeC , I think I’d set an alarm to test around 1am (or 2ish) - whatever works for you - and then eat if necessary, or correct if necessary.

Hormones, absorption problems or insulin would be my guess. By insulin I mean the insulin not ‘releasing’ the same each night. That last thing was the reason I got a pump.

You are definitely not on your own Phoebe.
((((((Hug))))))

I suspect that that the DSN will be used to a GP being in a ‘bit of a muddle’ around T1.
With the Libre data and if you keep a log of what is going on to look at alongside it, that will be a good starting point for discussion.
Keep us posted.
