Morning all. 🙂 9.9 here...you’re kidding!

Email from DSN yesterday - I can try Humalog in the Omnipod 5. According to the consultant, Apidra (my fav insulin by far) has been “withdrawn” so I can’t have it. But, but, but...my back-up insulin pens and my fridge and my prescription all contain Apidra. Weird.

I was teaching in a nice cool classroom all day yesterday. No such luck today...I’m going to get the weekly admin done this morning then sit in the shade and relaaaaax (while all manner of big machines go up and down the street - they’re re-surfacing the roads on our little estate this week).

Morning 9.2 on waking today
think I need to re-introduce a small amount of evening insulin (maybe tonight I will)

Nothing to exciting planned for today but some more clearing out in garage, currently in the garage I’m looking for some parts needed to get my 25 yr old mountain bike back on the road,
maybe that should say “in use for off road”
as in not “on the road” there’s plenty off parks etc and trails nearby

Looks like slugs / snails or other similar pests have returned to our garden, because at the weekend we planted out 5 tomato plants (these had been started in the conservatory) then last night when my wife was watering the garden found one tomato plant half eaten / looking very sorry for itself, there were trails on the bricks that border that bed 🙄so probably slugs 😱
Ok haven’t actually seen them yet but they are obviously out there and waiting to strike, memories of that famous photo @Martin.A

including something a few days ago from the existing council, saying how well they are currently doing, having spent millions on the market & town centre / investment in maintaining the roads around here (Northampton) anybody else who might local around here, will understand that’s just exposing how deluded they actually are, going now before this post turns political…

Had my final meeting with my ISVA yesterday. Now that the cases are all done and compensation settled there’s nothing left for them to support me through. It’s been three years she’s been a part of my life and I’m going to miss her sage wisdom and laughing at my wise cracks and corny puns.

Another lovely, sunny Berkshire morning and it's shaping up to be a scorcher. 5.5 when I tested.

Completed all my planned jobs yesterday but still need to put a second coat of paint on our under stairs cupboard door. Apart from that we're just about done painting and we can get our plumber back to fit a new radiator in the hall and get his electrician mate in to change our light switches and power sockets to black.

My wife, Peanuts fan that she is, rather than put the key hooks back up has made a key box for the wall using Lego tiles for Snoopy:-



Thursday, so swim later but no trip to the Polling Station as it's not our year for council elections.

12 for me this morning. Jabbed 12 units of Fiasp and my Levemir and went back to sleep and woke the second time 1hr and 49mins later on 4.4 with a sloping downward arrow so ate a JB to slow the drop and got up and had breakfast straight away which was a treat. Graph shows I didn't hit the red so perfect timing!
Apologies for absence. I lost my old lady, Cora, a week yesterday and it really knocked me for six. Of course I knew she wouldn't last forever but it is so hard to part with them when you have been together 30 years and they are like family. She was still alive when I found her and struggling to get up but couldn't, so I had to make the very difficult decision to end her suffering. Absolutely heartbroken still, but it will get easier with time.

Oh Barbara, I’m so sorry! As you say, you know they’ve got to go sometime, when they’ve got to that age, but it doesn’t make the situation or the decision any easier. How are the others coping without their Mum?

Thanks Robin. They were pretty subdued for a few days. Rebel took over the role of supervising me making up their feeds. Cora used to step up the two steps into the feed room with her front end every day and watch me making their warm mashes and then step backwards down the steps, when I was ready to give them their feed. It was nice that Rebel filled the gap although he could not be tempted to step up and just stood quietly in the doorway until I was ready to dish up. He is a good boy and knows that he is not supposed to go in the feed room.... not like that Rascal who would be in and sampling everything and trashing the place if my back was turned or I didn't have 2 chains on it.

I moved them up to my top field last night and as the last part is a busy main road, I left all 3 with my sister on a safe grassy area at the side of a car park where they were very happy tucking into the grass whilst I went ahead and unlocked and opened the gate, so that we could get straight off the road and in. My sister said that MeMe got very upset and started shouting the moment I went out of sight and I wonder if she thought she was losing her other Mam too! Normally she is very happy as long as she has her brothers with her and especially when there is grass to eat and she knows my sister very well, so I was very surprised. Then when we let them into the field she galloped round and round and I do wonder if perhaps she thought her Mam was going to be there waiting for them and was looking for her, but she soon settled down to enjoy the grass and it was good to see her blowing a bit of steam and having a hooley!

Just post this before I dash off to the hospital review. Woke low today 11:29 BS 3.7 marshmallow in bed before going to the loo &, for once actually remembering to give them a sample as I’ve forgotten SO many times before, BS is on the rise & just waiting for libre to catch up. Just now…12:16 BS 4.9.

Well, JUST about managed 1 Nice biscuit & BS is still rising 12:30 BS 5.2 on my very queasy medical appointment stomach: half gagged the biscuit down me! Took my pills & not basal & it can wait a few hours until I see the doctor at my 14:45 appointment! I’m still sitting on the bed taking it easy feeling slightly lightheaded & see how it goes? If I have to I can take a taxi instead of the bus?

We’re on it too. Luckily the dry weather we’ve been having hasn’t been conducive to slugs and snails.
Hoping our brassicas and lettuce will be safe this year.
@goodybags watch out for pigeons, they’ll nibble your plants.
