Group 7-day waking average?

5,8 this morning busy over the last few days, daughter and her boyfriend are home all week its turned everything upside down, meals at different times projects they have been helping with in the garden and the usual not agreeing with most things we do, daughters boyfriend has been with us for coming up to 4 years and he knows what's best or he thinks he does, so I sit on my hands and try and keep calm and its not going very well until hubby steps in.

Not sure if I should up my Basel as I am creeping up during the day but not change my diet or carb intake, oddly enough last night I had 3 crackers with cheese for my supper at 10pm, and I shot up to 14.7 at one pm, never happened before.

Happy belated birthday @PattiEvans and @Barrowman and all with HS over the last few days

Well I got here at 10am and went straight in. I’ve just come out from there after maybe 25 minutes perusing things in the main shop.
Wear comfy shoes! And wear your reading glasses!

There’s lots of very pretty things and some that are frankly obscene when you think for a second about the socio-political environment that they firmly represent. Some are painfully sad, others are just plain gorgeous.

There’s things from the Russian imperial family, courts of every royal family, tonnes of items that relatively poor country’s politicians wives could somehow afford…

What I really liked was seeing the history of ownership. There’s loads that were owned by Cole Porter’s wife for example. I liked that sense of historical place and time.

Key case donated by his sister in memory of Freddie Mercury

It’s the notation of the size of the stones that this necklace for a man that blew me away even more so than the actual piece itself.

There’s a whole section on how they make the panthers. By hand. Under a microscope.

Owned by Barbara Hutton

Massive sapphires that I can’t recall who owned

Hope diamonds

Lots of stuff from film stars including Grace Kelly, Liz Taylor, Gloria Swanson etc

This is an articulated necklace. The whole thing moves. Made to commission by a Mexican film star.

Oh and a whole bunch of stuff from the Duchess of Windsor’s collection as well as loads of things lent from HM The King, the Aga Khan, Rihanna, and lots from Queen Victoria’s children and grandchildren. Plus quite a few that belonged to the Bonaparte family.
Thanks for the preview. I'm looking forward to seeing the exhibition although there is no way i will ever be able to afford anything like them. I agree the value is obscene considering. I am a bit of a magpie though, always drawn to sparkly things even though i never wear them.

We're booked in for 10.45am so plan to do that then get the tube back to where we are staying ready for the drive home. With the theatre and the exhibition i shall be feeling very cultured.

Great example of a symbiotic relationship. Plant provides roost for birds and birds provide fertilizer for plant! Plus householder doesn't need curtains or blinds!
And it got watered every time we did a water change on our 400 litre tropical fish tank. Pretty sure the roots went under our patio too. Fabulous scent through the bedroom windows in the summer

Finished off the lamb and roasted veggies with a tablespoon of dauphinoise potatoes. Low carb chocolate mousse for dessert. Hubby finished off the rhubarb crumble.
Ditto, except I had a spoonful of the Hot Cross bun B&B pud for dessert. What was left of the veg and the lamb gravy made a very nice soup for lunch today.

Very late hello from me!
5.4 this morning. First day back to school, it was ok. Kids back in tomorrow and I'll have the year 11s camping out in the library for the duration of their GCSEs. Hopefully all will be well.

I watched the new Bridget Jones film last night. It was so sad! Not sure I enjoyed it as much as the others.

Evening all - I've been trying to get to post since 9:30 this morning and every time I get near the computer I am required to pay attention elsewhere. Meantime the day has fled - as has the sun and it's now raining, freezing wind and quite nasty!

10.1 this morning.... when I think about it there were a number of chocolate mini-egg truffles that I forgot about yesterday, some Galaxy and Some Cadbury's Dairy Milk which might have accounted for my elevated BGs yesterday afternoon. Ah well, it's only Easter once a year.

We haven't gone out for lunch as planned because the restaurant J wants to go to doesn't open at lunchtime until Thursday, so we have booked a table for lunch on Saturday. It's his birthday, so it's his choice. Instead we've pottered doing odd little tasks that haven't amounted to much, but needed doing. I've made a chicken, butternut squash, lentil and kale stew for dinner. At least it's a Good Food recipe and they always give the carbs.

@ColinUK those jewels are stunning, but are they actually in good taste? Perhaps a little OTT for the local pub?

@Gwynn and @Lisa65 congrats on the HS.

Oooh and a pic of my lovely new exotic Orchid.

Have a good evening all...

Beware the Jasmin. We bought one to grow up some trellis on an east facing wall at our old house. Don't worry I said to hubby. It prefers south or West facing aspect it will probably only grow to 10 - 12ft tall.
How wrong was I 😱. Picture is of the mature vine in the summer after being hard pruned every winter. We used to get about 100 sparrows roosting in it every year.

Have just showed my wife your post and said good job she loves birds but I will make sure it is planted a long way from the house.
I still have nightmares about taking the Ivy off our gable end on order to prevent any damage.
If it stops her from buying more plants then I will save a fortune mind you it makes her happy and my motto in life is Happy wife Happy Life.

@PattiEvans Once you accept the context that saw them being commissioned or bought from stock, mainly Court balls and ridiculously high society events, and the clientele, lots of royalty, aristocracy, early industrialists millionaires and their heirs, they had sod all else to spend their money on so I can see the attraction.
Also the craftsmanship is extraordinary. As is the innovation. Cartier made the first ever wristwatch. They also made the smallest ever watch movement (which is why ladies watches became ever smaller) and their mystery clocks (so called because the hands are not visibly supported in any way) take over a year to make.
Taste is of course subjective. Objectively they’re stunning pieces. Some are of questionable taste, like the Egyptian pieces they did immediately after Carter’s successful expedition where they took ancient Egyptian artefacts and basically covered them in gemstones. Yes they’re gorgeous but you just couldn’t do that these days thank goodness.

Have to say I didn’t see anything I’d not be happy to sport on a trip to Waitrose. Heck I’d even nip to the Co-op wearing most of it!

Yawning morning. Only gone and got a 5.bloomimg 2! I went to screen shot it and as I’ve a new phone without a button thingymajig I didn’t know what to do! So you’ll just have to believe me! By the time I Google how to do it I’ll probably be in the 8s!

I have absolutely no reason to be up at 4.50, but woke and the internal monologue started, what should I give Zara and Eden for lunch? Should I strip the bed today? Need to buy Darjeeling before our holiday next week. Hope the ferry isn’t cancelled, etc etc etc! This will me now until we get to our accommodation in Harris a week on Saturday ( or Sunday if the ferry isn’t on)! 😳

Cold morning. Only 3 degrees, but the forecast is for sun all day and 16 degrees and light winds. Lovely.

Have a wonderful Wednesday folks.

Morning and the Diabetes Fairy has definitely been “twinning” me and @eggyg this morning and I have put a photo on as no one would believe the co incidence.
You can see I went to bed much higher and had a 2u correction to deal with my going higher before bed and slept all the way through and ended up with a HS.
Really good day yesterday and ended up having lunch near Betws y Coed at a cafe where they have access to a little waterfall.
So after my Toastie I had a 20 minute climb around the circular walk which helped get my BG back under control and was uneven and quite steep in bits but very nice.
Such a lovely drive through Snowdonia but does make it a long day and drove nearly 300 miles which is double or triple my normal day.
Our garden is looking very tidy at the moment so my wife is very pleased and a couple of my shares ( I usually buy fairly volatile and risky stuff ) had a good day so all in all worked out in my favour.
W/ end gardening aches and pains seem to have gone as well and recycling bins today and can fill garden bin up straight away.
Much more quiet day in Manchester today and home much earlier so have a good day.

It’s triplet time!

5.2!!

And I won something on Euromillions yesterday. Not £5.20 as that would have been hilarious.

Good morning everyone.

BG a surprising 4.6 this morning at 6am

Spent a bit of time yesterday trying to get my keyboard to talk to a separate sound module. Got them to talk but I wasn't part of the conversation and I couldn't steer to the topic I wanted! At the momentmI have no idea how to force the subject.

A new keyboard stand should arrive today for my wifes keyboard. It should make it a bit lower.

Nothing else to do, relax, probably best as my right hip is quite painful. Getting older is not much fun!

Have a great day today whatever you are doing.

Morning all, 5.6 here, I went through the HS station without stopping, some time around 6am, according to my graph, and was scraping along in the low 4s most of the night. That’ll be yesterday's exercise, I did a load of unplanned gardening yesterday morning. I went out to hang the washing out, saw some jobs that needed doing, and set to, then in the afternoon I took the pony out for a longer hack than usual, past the bluebell woods.

Morning all. 🙂 6.1 here.

Snap! @Robin - I was hanging out some washing, when some pesky bindweed caught my eye...two hours later I’d cleared a path through the even peskier dandelion patch to a secluded corner of the garden that I want to convert into my little reading / wildlife watching retreat. I thought it was going to rain, so had planned to do stuff indoors. Thank you, sunshine!

I’m ringing my DSN today. I’m not a happy bunny. I’m considering a pump break. Novorapid is utterly useless, even with extended pre-boluses. I want my life back! On the plus side, it’s sunny again today (until it starts raining 😉).

So the day I go to see my new consultant for the first time I get a waking reading of 6.9. Mind you, that’s probably better than something in the 3s I’ve had over the previous few days!

This afternoon we’re over to my parents for the care home assessment, it feels like things are moving really fast now which is probably good as they will be safe and cared for whilst we’re away from next Wednesday. It also doesn’t give them too much time to mull things over and worry about it all.

Congratulations to our trio of HSs today : @eggyg , @Wendal and @ColinUK.

Have a good day everyone whatever your plans.

Morning

A near miss today with 5.3, nothing much planned today, although I signed up to the Body Coach App so I will try the first exercise which is only 10mins, I have already picked a few recipe’s which I like the look of from the food section, so hoping this will help me get back into exercise and shift this last stone.

Congratulations to our HS triplets today, @eggyg @Wendal and @ColinUK

Did the last bits of cleaning at FIL’s yesterday, but another set back, a pipe in the downstairs loo has now started to leak, or was leaking previously and we didn’t notice it, the carpet (yes it has carpet in the loo), was squelching under foot, hubby came home and found our old Vax to soak up the water, plumber can’t come out until next Tuesday, still going to put it up for sale today, as by the time the Estate Agents upload everything tomorrow I doubt we will get any viewings before then. Once fixed going to see if we can find an off cut of the cheapest vinyl flooring we can to put in there.
