Feeling scared

I'm.so nervous can't sleep as got new hairdresser Tommy worried incase they are rude or incase I have nits or anything
If you normally enjoy going to the hairdresser then relax and just go and I'm sure it will be fine, even if you have nits which I'm sure you haven't they will have seen it before and will cope.
I worked at a hairdresser when I was at school as a Saturday job and a customer came in with her head alive, we just had to put everything in a bag and as she was going to have a perm the perm solution would actually kill them anyway.
Always something to be aware of if you work with children, worth having some treatment at home just in case.

If you are a new customer they will be keen to impress. I've never had nits but know in some places like schools they have outbreaks but you know you are in worry gut mode. If you had them, which is unlikely the hairdresser would notice and probably has the appropriate shampoo. As far as I recall nits like clean hair. Just try and relax and remember you are an important person and the hairdressers job is to please you and style your hair so you look as lovely as possible. They can see views of the hairstyle that you wouldn't be able to without a very good mirror. Trust them but if they suggest an approach you don't like or want tell them. I have a fringe and discuss how short and how heavy it should be.
If you get home and think it's a bit short just remember hair grows.
Why not tell them as it's a new hairdresser you would like to chat about your options and would welcome advice and reassurancd?

I'm a bit scared as the IVA people are looking at bank statements for my review x

It's usual to be nervous. It shows you are treating a situation seriously. Over confidance can lead to mistakes. However you are going to do a placement you want to do so why would you be scared? Babies aren't going to judge you. So far you have shared many worries about new situations eg tooth extraction hairdressers etc and each time it has turned out well. Have you got a trusted friend or close family who you can talk things through with? Are there people with young babies where you could babysit for an hour or visit and play with the baby? Only you know what will work well for you. I don't know how nervous you are at the moment. If you don't want to cope with a baby on your own for an hour don't do it. Your placement is supervised so you are not on your own. You have a month to use to slowly build up your confidance with little people to get the best you can out of your placement.

I'm also scared about starting my baby placement April the 14th I have no idea abou babies
When I started my 'Child' placement during my Clinical Psychology training I'd barely seen a child since I was one myself! However, I was open with my supervisor about that - and my supervisor said that it wasn't unusual.

My supervisor's job was to introduce me gradually to working with children, which meant that, by the end of the placement, I was able to do an adequate job, which was all that was required. After all, my job was to work with children, rather than to be their parent!

Thank you yes it's part of my course I have spoken to work colleagues they have been supportive
It might be a good idea to talk through with your tutor about what is making you scared. Maybe scared isn't quite the right word, more nervous, anxious, apprehensive might better describe your feelings.
But it is important to try to find out what it is about what you are doing that is the problem.
Everybody is anxious about doing something new, but the more you do something the more it will become second nature. Children quickly realise and can play on that so even if you are nervous you have to act confidently.

Handling ongoing anxiety like that can be really tricky @corriefan

Hopefuly you can see that many of the worries you’ve had have come to nothing. Have you ever tried breathing exercises like Mindfulness? Have you ever asked about talking therapies to help you with your anxious thoughts? Or looked into CBT?

Glad your work colleagues are being supportive. Look after yourself :care:

Hi I'm.feeling really terrified about starting baby placement in less than two weeks.
You want to do well so nerves are good but try and work out some things which will give you joy over the next few weeks. Perhaps make a note each day of what has made you happy hearing a bird sing, the way you've styled your hair a song you liked. Find out what the nursery expects of you, will you be singing songs? Perhaps listen to some. Nursery songs on YouTube. Children's songs are a happy place.
Do you think writing down you are "terrified" is just making you feel more apprehensive? It's a very strong word. Once you are inside the nursery you are going to be so busy with new things to observe and do you may have moments of being nervous but it will be brief. Think about all the good things that are going to happen on your placement and why you want to do it.
