Hi guys I'm having a bad day today with my sugar its been really high and its also one of those bad days for me when no one understands me even if I do talk to my family or friends its the same thing over and over and I really do appreciate it but they just don't get it and I don't expect them to. Just came here to feel a bit better hopefully. Just one of those days

Hello right back, we all have these days. I hope that you can the better of it really soon. How high has your sugar been? Do you have a plan to correct the issue or issues leading to this for you?

Feel free to have a rant, whinge or moan. We've all been there. As the saying goes with diabetes 'you only get it if you've got it.'

Hope things pick up for you as tomorrow's another day. 🙂

It was 18.3 and I've take the right amount of insulin i needed. I jus feel really down and want to know how it feels just not to have this for one day but thats not going to happen. thanks

Yes thats very true. Thanks

Yes happens to the best of us. Have you taken a correction dose at all?

We all have always got it. I wish that I could tell you that there is some getting away from it even for a while but there isn't. As well as the low that you are obviously going through right now there are also much better times when your blood sugars behave themselves a bit better and you feel much less bothered by it all . Perhaps a little more insulin might help as a correctional dose but if you are unfamiliar with doing this them perhaps seek proper medical advice first. Even if you are familiar with applying correctional insulin doses please take a lot of care doing it.

I definitely know what it is like to have 'one of those days'.

Can you identify what it is that has made you BG high. Could it be one of these:
- Missed an injection
- Wrong carbs
- Forgot to prime before injecting / prime a new cannula
- Feeling ill (do you need to increase your insulin)
- no logical reason at all

On the topic of other people not understanding, on Accu Chek website there is an excellent list of advice for what not to say to a person with diabetes. Worth a look at, and my husband took on board the one about 'well it could be worse. You haven't got cancer'. Perhaps have a look and show it to your family and discuss the list with them. It is difficult for others to understand the relentlessness of it all. However on the other side of it we do become very adept at managing our own health.

Hey Harveen, we all have rubbish days. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and do feel free to moan, we all need to sometimes 🙂

It was wrong carbs i ate more than i thought i would oops. Wow didn't know that was a thing and I've heard that one enough times. I might go and have a look at it now thank u so much

Put in very simple terms it is a case of applying an extra dose of insulin to correct blood sugars that have elevated unexpectedly or because of miscalculation of carbohydrate and insulin intake or just because sometime diabetes just refuses to follow the rules. The slightly more complex thing is working out exactly how much extra insulin you need to take. If this is set up on your machine then do you perhaps have instructions with it to help you?

I am extremely familiar with my own insulin but am not at all familiar with other types. I cannot advise you about how much to take or when to take it. You really need medical guidance for this purpose.

They set it up recently so they explained it at the time and it seemed easy at that point and I always seem to forget to ask them at my next appointment but I don't need to now. Thank u i really appreciate it

I am really sorry that I cannot offer you more practical help. I hope you are feeling better really soon 🙂

Hi Harveen, hope you are feeling better. I've just got diagnosed so feel pretty pants too. Tomorrow is another day for both of us

I'm sorry that you're feeling like this but completely understand. When you test your blood does it tell you how much insulin to have? You may have to press a confirm button to get the amount of insulin? That is your correction dose and how much you should inject. You should then test again in two hours. Good luck with getting it sorted.
