Back in the day!

You got me beat on the number of owned scooters! no pic's of my best one Rally 200, didn't really take any back then.
Will have to make do with scooters seen on rallies in the '80s
Note - not my scooters or my photos
But here's a famous one when custom was big, artwork, engraving, themes etc, the pic's really don't do justice.
One for the Siouxsie fan's

Nice hair dryers.

omg, those were the days, bike rallies, concerts, beer after waking in the morning, left over cold take away curry for breakfast, ears ringing for days after Thin Lizzy, White Snake, Gillan, ac/dc, Rush, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult concerts, constantly hot wiring the bike to get home because of lost keys, riding on bald tyres cos I couldn't afford new ones, always short or cash, riding in the snow and ice with plastic bags on my boots, newspaper shoved down my trousers for warmth.....then.....slowly......I grew up, and am a fine upstanding member of the community, although a little older, less hair and wishing I was young enough to do it all again!

 Bet yer bike was just as nice once you wiped all the grease off it :D

After passing test first big bike was a GS550, it had done a few rounds when I got it & it had a slight oil leak from engine which spray oil on my right boot, better on my boot than rear tyre anyway. Would joke with mates that it was possible to wring my boot out to top oil levels back up.

After getting decent job went on to bigger & newer bikes but still missed that old bike, strange thing is still remember its registration plate but can't remember any other bikes or car regs I've owned.

In 1979 I was riding an MZ motorbike, excellent bike but Eastern European bikes didn't have a lot of street cred. Music wise I always liked rock but I liked The Kinks, The Jam and The Who as well. I never really got scooters though.
My Dad had a MZ for a while in the 80’s they were good for the job designed for, if I remember right the gear change was a bit clunky or maybe was just his bike - says me riding a scooter :D

Passed bike test as soon I could, L plates looked bad, so that would have been 17 I think ?

Thinking back the training was great, Part 1, navigate some cones! follow and be followed as a group by the instructors and a few road signs I was the only one needing to use hand signals, no indicators.

Part 2 ride around some roads next to the test centre, the examiner was on foot! As far as I know and being told at some point he would appear and request an emergency stop. Result, Pass and no licence restrictions :D:party::party:

Reckon it’s much harder now and expensive!

Not my scooter or pic’s :( all credit to the owner!

Now my favourite, it’s just the best of scooter/bike in one, right now that would be my scooter heaven!

Lambretta GP with Yamaha RD350 LC engine, that will surprise bikes from the lights and more :DIMG_0051.jpeg

I built a BSA 650 A10 in the dining room of my student flat.
There was Percy Kilns just around the corner in Elm Grove, Southsea and I used to get genuine BSA spars for pre decimalisation prices from the chief mechanic there - he was tickled pink to have a girl doing repairs and maintenance. The bike lost oil like crazy when I got it, but it was soon in good fettle - the mechanic used to call it my sewing machine.

I’m in the middle of baking a gingerbread when the classic Northern Soul “Do I love you” came on Radio 2. Immediately had to shimmy across the kitchen floor. Wasn’t quite the same without the Oxford bags and brogues. Primarnie leggings, M&S slippers and a pinny! I’ve still got it though.,
