Two days before going off to visit Vladimir, I was told that my cancer has reappeared in my liver. I 've always known the likelihood of it recurring was high, but as the years go by you can't help but hope. However, I had my consultants blessing to go on holiday, as an MRI scan was not 'sufficiently clinically urgent' to stop me going.
I have an MRI on Tuesday and will be having an op to remove 25/30% of my liver probably late October. The nature of neuroendocrine tumours is that they are inclined to keep popping up, but generally they are dealable with as they usually grow slowly.
As you can imagine, this news has knocked me sideways as I feel well (apart from a British Airways cold!). Being away for a fortnight was great because it really pushed this into the background, but now I'm home reality is beginning to bite. Lots of rude words are being said and tears shed, but i don't propose to let it defeat me.
My consultant doesnt see any reason why we shouldnt be sitting there in five years time discussing my health.

I'm so sorry to hear this Susan but love your fighting spirit! Being in the same position I totally understand.

Stay strong and never let the fear of dying destroy the joy of living x

I'm really sorry to hear this Susan :( Sending you all the positivity I can muster {{{HUGS}}}

I am not good with emotions, but feel for you and hope that this will be your last op.
Try and be positive.

Sorry to hear this! Good luck for the operation and have a good recovery!

Oh Susan, I am so sorry to hear this! Wishing you all the best for your operation and a speedy recovery. You are so strong I know you'll get through this 🙂

((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Oh B******s. So sorry this has reared its head. Sending all possible good vibes your way.

I'm sorry to hear your bad news Susan. However I can tell by the tone of your message you have no intention of giving in to any of it and because of that you'll do well. So much positivity has to see you through. Sending my very best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear this news Susan, but you're a fighter and I reckon your consultant is right.

Aye, Sue, swear at it with impunity, and treat it with the scorn it deserves. Don't shed tears. You won't miss a third of your liver. It's the only organ in the body that can regrow. You'll have your CGM funded before this ever kills you.

All the very best for an uncomplicated op - a darn sight easier than your first, that's for sure, but it will take a wee while before you're back on form. And you will be, don't worry.

Yes. Ive wondered whether losing a chunk of liver will make me significantly clinically different to other T1s ( which im not!)

No, there'll be no significant difference clinically. Humans can manage with about a third of a healthy liver. So sadly this will not add ammunition to your CGM campaign. That's why I made the comment:(Sorry to deflate your mood further, or cause even more colourful language. Did you learn any curses in Russian? They'd be handy post op.

Oh boy, that was a pretty rubbish send off for your holidays. I wish you every good fortune with your treatment.

So sorry to hear your news Susan and glad that you have let us know.

Sorry to hear this Susan. Wishing you all the very best of luck for a positive outcome.

Sorry to hear this Sue, sending lots of positive thoughts your way x

Sorry Susan, that's a horrible blow. I'm glad to hear it can be removed and hope the operation isn't too traumatic X
