Thinking about traditional Sunday lunches and diabetic restrictions, I got to wondering what people have for lunch on a Sunday.
I find I can tolerate the Yorkshires and a few roasties very well but today I'm doing mince and crispy dumplings. It gives me less of a hike than a white bread sandwich I find.

Apologies if this should be in a different section but I wondered if diabetes has affected Sunday dining traditions for people (if you had any to start with of course).

I'm cooking for just me as don't want to spread my bugs. Might get chicken and go heavy on veg with a few wee baby boils

We never have a Sunday lunch on a Sunday lunchtime 😱 due to work or if not working like to go out somewhere if we can. Then enjoy the meal either another day or in the evening. I tend to do the usual roasties Yorkshires and veg but restrict my plate with just one potato but lots of meat and veg.
Working later so will be livlife bread and cheese today!

I will be having salmon and prawns for lunch with salad and wholemeal bread. I must add though that your mince and crispy dumplings sounds divine and has set me off thinking in a whole different direction 🙂. Your thread has actually made me hungry and I think I might just go on a fridge raid 😳

I'll probably have soup and a sandwich. Haven't decided yet. The rest of the family tend to lie on a diet of chips and pasta and things coated in bread crumbs or batter so I don't always join them

Ham salad sandwich, a small banana and two pieces of 85% dark chocolate! 🙂 Very traditional! 🙄 Treating myself to sausage and mash tonight though... 🙂

I actually fancy the salmon and prawns Diabeticliberty so we'll have to do a plate swop! 😛

Pâté on Burgen toast, a satsuma, some Brazil nuts and a pice of 90% dark. This is because I'm going riding later, then will cook for the family later, roast pork with various veg and roast potatoes ( I'll have a couple of small chunks), a glass of red wine and some Camembert.

I'm having roast chicken ,some naughty roast potatoes and veg followed by a yogurt.

Going to Sainsbury's after my walk, was going with a roast chicken, but Robin's pork has maybe changed my mind, wife's working till 5 so I will do dinner for 5.30. That way I can get her to do the gravy, its always better than mine.

This Sunday lunch thread might well be my undoing. My right hand is already twitching ready to reach for extra insulin. I hope you can all see what you are doing to me? Terrible influences all of you 😛

We,re having lamb shanks in red wine and rosemary sauce (6.9g carb),(Sainsburys ):D mashed spuds(25g carb) and spinach for todays lunch. Sunday is the only day of the week we have our main meal at lunch time.

I'm very impressed with all these culinary delights on a Sunday and glad I'm not the only one who still tucks into the 'naughty but nice' roasties! 😛

I normally have a sandwich at lunchtime on a Sunday as we eat dinner in the evening. So tonight we're having roast pork. I'll only have 2 small royalties and 1 yorkie pud with lots of veggies.

We very rarely have traditional Sunday lunch, we just eat the same as we would any other day of the week. If we do decide to do the traditional thing we normally go out for it - there are a few good places near us that do a very nice meal for not too many ££. I have never been a big fan of roasted potatoes or root veg so I normally ask to swap mine for extra broccoli/cauliflower/cabbage etc., even before I was diagnosed! As for the rest, well an occasional Yorkshire pudding or bit of stuffing can't hurt too much can it??

If it were up to my son we'd have an Italian type meal every Sunday...he loves his pasta but my BG's certainly don't! 🙄

Had roast lamb, mint sauce, new spuds, peas from the garden (frozen from last year) and home made ice cream. Not all on the same plate I may add.
Blood sugar sitting at 6.9 at the moment 🙂

Reading what's on your highly appealing menu my bottom jaw is wobbling as if it has a mind of its own. My blood sugars have risen to 53.9mmols 😛

Lol what was even better is the lamb shoulder was a gift from my landlord as he keeps a few sheep.
