Group 7-day waking average?

6.3 this morning. Is it the heat? I had a few days of 6s during the last heatwave.

Managed to strip the old felt off our Summer house roof yesterday and started ripping it into pieces for disposal, but found it unbearably hot working in the garden so had to keep stopping and retreating indoors. Showers in our forecast for Wednesday so that's my deadline for getting the new felt on.

Trip to M&S over in nearby Camberley later, plus the Garden Centre shop, and then it's the Women's Final at Wimbledon, so need to have everything done & dusted by 4 o'clock.

Congratulations @Northerner on your HS.

Enjoy your Saturday, everyone.

Morning everyone. Another hot one on the way. I did something yesterday that I haven’t done for a while, I went to bed, drew the curtains, turned the fan on and watched two films - it was a pleasant change from roasting all afternoon.

Anyway, it was a 4.5 for me earlier this morning, why is it I’m always in the 4’s for my fasting reading I wonder!!

Have a good day everyone and keep cool.

A whopping 10.6 here after a evening of hypo-land, high BG subsequent after too many JVs and Icecream.

I got refused entry to a play my BiL was playing in because of something that happened a quarter of a century ago - some people never grow up and move on!

Off out to Carnforth today to see some of the Fringe Festival turns. We'll be staying in the hotel for a night so we're not rushed in getting back late evening. Temperatures supposed to reach 29/30C - trust us to go on the hottest day of the year.

Enjoy your day whatever you're all doing, and keep hydrated.

I seem to be in very good company on the 5.1 step today.

MUST, MUST MUST go food shopping today. I haven't been to the supermarket for well over a month and I have slowly been living out of my store cupboards and freezer and supplementing with essentials like milk and yoghurt from the village shop. Lidl will be going bankrupt if I don't get myself there soon!! I have had no dark chocolate or peanut butter for a fortnight and now total crisis as I am out of cheese too, so I absolutely can't put it off any longer, especially as I now need animal feed. I love food but sometimes the thought of going to get it seems like an impossible task, especially when it becomes a massive shop to replenish store cupboard essentials and freezer as well as fridge. Looking forward to getting home with my hoard and having a few treats though. A coffee with cream and a salad are high on my list.

Afternoon folks. 5.8 this morning at 6.30am. Nice and cool though a bit overcast when I went out to feed the chickens their breakfast. The sun is high in the sky and burned off the clouds. Supposed to reach 26 degC.
Bought a floor standing large fan for the bedroom. It was so hot and stuffy last night. The old fan is getting quite noisy and doesn't seem to move the air much.

Congrats on your HS @Northerner . I liked the way you sneaked the meter reading at the end!
Good news about your granddaughter, @eggyg . Also loving the homemade raspberry jam and hoping to see a photo of the redcurrant jelly tomorrow

Well done on another good HbA1c result @Grannylorraine and pleased that you are able to reduce your medication.
Lovely photo of Mrs H with her cake @Homer

Have a lovely Saturday peoples. Enjoy Wimbledon or whatever entertainment you have planned this weekend.
Take care and slap on the sunscreen 😎

5.8 for me this morning my levels shot up for no reason after lunch which was scrambled egg with cheese and no bread, no idea why it shot up to 13.1 at 12.30 and has only just come back in range at 9.9. the same happened yesterday it went even higher, so I am changing my pen tomorrow there only 30 units in it, and take 28 a day. our bedroom is very hot even with a fan on all night, I am wondering if the heat is effecting the insulin, I find my reading go higher in the summer so have already added more units from 20 to 28 over the last few weeks so will see what happens. oddly enough once it comes down it is fairly stable for the rest of the day and evening.

Afternoon was 6.6 today

Congratulations on today’s HS @Northerner :star:

Today is one of those days where it’s a good job I’ve plenty to keep my mind occupied, as marks the 19th anniversary of my Brothers passing :thankyou:

I attended the WalkingFootball/Wellness scheme this morning it was a really good session both physically but also we talked about Action for Happiness, which was great - AFH looks a great support site / app for anyone see below:

My car has been in for MOT test today (passed although has a few advisories) the garage I had it tested today reckons approx £200 for parts and a few hours labour, will confirm price on Monday
fingers crossed I’m expecting a bill of, towards but still sub £500, She’s not a new car anymore 8 years old now and over 110K on the clock so it’s to be expected really.

I’ve today received a copy of a letter Oxford Eye department has sent to my GP confirming they have now discharged me from their care 6 months after the emergency surgery I had following the impacted Ozurdex implant / Cataract Surgery, obviously as still have Diabetic Retinopathy I’m still under NGH for treatment (as needed)

Beautiful sunny day here today, luckily we have a gentle breeze

01:28 BS 6.6 🙂 & a bit more movement on the body clock.

A Very Good Morning, coming up, & have a Wonderful Day! 😉

I mentioned some cold mornings the other day & now I get 2 swelteringly hot days in a row! 😱 I had to deploy the cold bottle of water from the fridge held at the nape of my neck technique to cool down as I got SO hot: cold water or ice to pulse points cools you down fast; the back of the neck, the front of your neck in between your collar bones ( had to google it & it’s the “Suprasternal Notch” area, the inside of the wrist, & basically, anywhere else you feel hot! Ahhh! :thankyou:🙂

It’s a “ scorchio” 12th weekend; The Battle of the Boyne bank holiday this year! 😱

6.9 this AM. I’m chalking that up to the heat and in no way is the hunk of cherry cheesecake I sampled with extraordinary levels of restraint and decorum at 10pm last night to blame!

Helping schlep something somewhere for someone first thing today, I’ve no idea what or where but I do know who! Then a few hours of volunteering and luxuriating in the museum’s air conditioning before heading to Sadler’s Wells East for a dance thing that I’m looking forward to but don’t know what to expect.

It’s described here way better than I could ever hope to describe it before experiencing it myself: https://www.sadlerswells.com/whats-on/sharon-eyal-gai-behar-and-young-r-o-s-e/

and also here https://thespyinthestalls.com/2025/07/r-o-s-e/

Opera yesterday was fun. Wrote this on BalletForum:

Attended the Linbury yesterday for The Wish Thief. Bit of a last minute decision after seeing lots of youth dance companies doing their thing I thought it only right to support the Youth Company of the Royal Opera doing theirs. And what a delightful experience it was!

It’s a newly commissioned opera that is about magic, wishes, hopefulness, repression, totalitarianism, almost fascism and joy. No it’s not the most complicated of plots but given that it’s just over an hour and that other than the two adult cast everyone else is between 9 and 13 they did a great job!

Clearly some of the kids were overwhelmed by being on stage for their first public presentation of the piece but equally obvious was that some of those kids really can sing.

Tickets are available for the performances today and they’re inexpensive. If you’re at a loose end then go and see it. It’s a fun experience and it is supporting the future of an art form we all love. Yes there were mishaps, and there was an odd bit of pushing and shoving amongst the kids when someone was standing in their way but it wasn’t ill tempered but more a demonstration of a juvenile lack of stage awareness which I’m more than happy to ignore given that they’re so young.

Musically, again it’s not the most challenging of librettos perhaps but it works and everyone left with a smile on their face I think. I certainly did!

Good morning folks. 6.8 today. The new fan in the bedroom was very effective and we both slept better last night.
Yesterday I did another hive inspection as I only got one done the other day before it got too hot. Both beehives were fine (fingers crossed no wasp predation). However they were in full on defensive mode so both hubby and I were stung a couple of times. Struggling to see the eggs and larvae now. I will contact one of my Beekeeping friends who lives in the next village. He has offered to help if needed until my eyes are done.
Hubby is going out with a friend this morning on a motorbike ride. I will probably be in the garden.
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday and take care x

Morning all, a hot and sticky 7.4 here.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Good moaning! An irritating 10.3. Three hours after tea/dinner/supper my BG was 5.7. After eating something I got was lower still. At home I would have waited but to avoid the NHS response of "Emergency, emergency, Michael's BG is down to 5.0" and the glucose drink/gels I had a couple more biscuits!

Overcast and cool at the moment with the predicted maximum for today reduced by 3°C.

Morning all, 4.8 here. House is a bit cooler this morning, it was like an oven when we got back last night. Son had been in residence overnight Friday, but left early Saturday morning to go to Goodwood, so the house had been shut up all day. Had a reasonable trip back, Easyjet announced a 2 hr delay as we were travelling to the airport, but then obviously managed to juggle their planes, and got it back on schedule. I had to laugh at Verona airport, they take 'cattle class' seriously, and herd you outside into huge holding pens with wire fencing round when you go through the gate to board (fortunately with a covered canopy for shade). I was expecting someone to appear with a cattle prod when the bus eventually arrived to take us out to the plane.

Morning all
Another hot humid day here. Am doing nothing today am binge watching the 4 seasons of Ambulance on BBC I PLAYER. I'm a sucker for programmes of that nature. How are you all coping with the heat? I'm coping by doing nothing but streaming things on tablet and playing UNO a card game, am also spending a lot of time in front of the air fan in our communal dinning room.
Nearly forgot today's BG was 5.7
You all take care in this weather stay hydrated and make sure those around you do as well. Don't forget your pets feel the heat as well. So look after them..
Special best wishes to all especially anyone on their own.
❤️ gail xxxxx
PS Am in love with new tablet my new baby am using it like its going out of fashion. It was so easy to set up just synced it with phone and it transferred everything across. Even set it up for WhatsApp Love the stylus pen mind you I keep using the phone and attempting to use pen on it LOL

A 5.6 for me today. Another hot day ahead - it's already 27°C upstairs. 😱
Stay cool everybody.
