I thought nothing of weeing more as I was drinking loads but didn't think anything of that as I was running around a shop floor, heavy lifting etc from 9-5, I'd had blood tests as initially they thought I might have an over active thyroid (my dad's mum had while most in my mums side have an underactive thyroid) but it came back fine and my hba1c came back raised (I don't know what as I wasn't told) so I was asked to go in and see a nurse for a fasting finger prick, apparently it was high (again wasn't told what) so off she popped to chat with a doctor, was asked to come back and see a doctor that afternoon, off I went to work, went back and the doctor checked for ketones (urine way) and they were present so off I went to hospital, I'm not sure if my hip pain was linked to undiagnosed diabetes (was agony getting up stairs and living in a middle flat I couldn't avoid them!) but that went away soon after starting insulin along with the permanent cracks at the sides of my mouth! xx
