Congratulations. My late father did what you did. As soon as he was diagnosed, he completely changed his diet. He cut out sweets, drink, chocolate, sugar etc etc. He lost a lot of weight and went from 1 tablet a day, to half a tablet, to none. He played golf every day which also helped.
But, I've been Type 1 since 1964. My average score was recorded as 7.9 last week. And I have always eaten Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies every morning although nowadays, it's muesli, porridge or granola. On occasions, I even have Frosties if I 'need' to. I'm sure that, in the past, when I've been in hospital (as a youngster in the 60s and 70s), that corn flakes were served as a "Diabetic breakfast".
